Chapter 88: Restarting the Live Stream
Xu Xiaoyue felt like happiness had just dropped in her lap like an overripe fruit.
She’d prepared so much—candy was just the first step. Next came the warm big sister treatment, head pats, and hugs full of love.
And there were backup plans for support, heroic rescues, and forced snatches!
But instead of that, she barely started her charming little attacks and the girl dove straight under the covers?!
Don’t get any funny ideas! We’re talking about little sister here who’s too scared to sleep alone at night.
In short, she got her way.
And that’s a good thing!
But it sent the onlooking players into an uproar.
Isn’t this practically a royal decree for an assistant? They could stay together for extended periods, even keep tabs on Nuclear Bomb Little Sister’s movements. Gaining affection would be a piece of cake!
Not to mention, they could openly take advantage of Nuclear Bomb Little Sister—because who wouldn’t want a slice of her clout?
That’s a dream position for so many people!
“No way! We demand fair competition!”
“Yeah! This is unfair; do it over!”
“Why should she get it? What’s up with that!”
Xu Xiaofeng, whose hearing was already sharp, was practically overwhelmed by the chaotic cacophony of players clamoring around her.
Seeing this, Xu Xiaoyue immediately shielded the little loli and shouted at the players, “Hey! What’s all this noise about? With you lot acting like this, who would dare to ask for your help?”
The players quickly realized that stirring up trouble wasn’t the best course of action and quieted down in record time.
No one wanted to not only miss out on the assistant role but also lose affection points. That would be game over!
One player stepped forward to counter Xu Xiaoyue, “Sister, you can’t say that. You can’t just whack everyone down like that. We still need to compete, right?”
“Aw, come on, sister. The deal’s already done; what’s there to compete over? If we were going to compete, we should’ve done it earlier.”
“But we didn’t know about it beforehand!”
“Didn’t you think I’d know? What, should I have sent you a heads-up?”
Xu Xiaoyue puffed out her chest like a victorious hen.
Although she didn’t see this coming, that didn’t stop her from flaunting it!
Another player piped up, “Hey girl, that’s not right. We’re all here, aren’t we just waiting to compete? How can the first applicant just seal the deal?”
“Just because you guys are standing there doesn’t mean it’s fair. Saying you’re applicants doesn’t make it official, right? Wouldn’t it mean that literally any player in the main city—or the whole game—is also in the running?”
“What about you?”
“That’s exactly what I’m doing!”
Xu Xiaoyue pulled out a piece of candy, which Xu Xiaofeng accepted and gobbled down.
She was just watching the show, curious to see how her little lady would handle these players.
“Uhh…”
Others dug through their pockets and bags, but nothing sweet turned up.
What could they do? No decent player brings candy to a game! It’s not like they’re trying to lure little lolis away!
Oh wait… maybe that’s exactly what they were doing now…
Someone pulled out a high-grade potion, “I have this!”
Only to be met with Xu Xiaofeng’s ruthless disdain.
Buddy, have you lost your marbles?
The others kept jumping in.
“I admit you came prepared and got the upper hand, but…”
“Then you should stop talking.”
Come on! Flattering before the argument? Isn’t that just thick-headed? There’s no need for this ‘to build up before tearing down’ nonsense.
Someone else tried to jump in but was quickly shot down.
Though Xu Xiaoyue had an icy demeanor in reality, in her home or online, she was a force to be reckoned with.
“Let’s put it this way, big sister. Just give us a reason everyone accepts, and if it’s legit, we’ll agree! Of course, if you can’t give one, then we’ll go with whoever else can!”
“Right!”
“I agree too.”
This was what they thought was the best way to avoid a stalemate.
In reality, if Xu Xiaofeng just said a couple more sentences and firmly settled things, the others wouldn’t dare to say a peep.
But she wouldn’t! She was just having fun!
And Xu Xiaoyue? She almost burst out laughing at that statement.
Of course, she had an excellent reason, but it didn’t seem appropriate to say it right in front of everyone.
Taking a glance at the little loli, she found her happily munching on candy, seemingly oblivious to the players’ antics.
So she said, “Hey everyone, check the public screen; I’m going to announce something there.”
After a moment, she typed in big, bold letters on the screen:
“I have insider channels! I can drop juicy details about Nuclear Bomb Little Sister for you all from time to time. The last time she visited the main city, I was the one who spilled the beans! Check my ID!”
When the others saw that and matched it up with previous posts, they were incredulous!
No wonder she was able to prepare ahead of time—turns out she had insider info!
As the internal mole, Xu Xiaofeng was left dumbfounded.
Had this brat seriously weaseled her way through? That’s just too pathetic!
With so many players around, couldn’t anyone muster up a bit of chaos?
Even if they didn’t dare to raise a hand, at least throw around some angry insults, right?
But one by one, they were cursing like they were flirting, and it was like they were cooing affectionately instead! When did players get such high standards!?
Oh, turns out it was because of her presence—so everything’s fine.
She was so intimidated by their kingly energy that even her own dialogue became refined.
It made her want to restart the game and find an NPC to recruit assistants while she happily sat in a corner, munching popcorn while watching the drama unfold.
Too bad she couldn’t, and thus missed out on a show of a lifetime.
(For those confused about the plot here, feel free to check back at Chapter 27; there were slight edits made around October 26.)
Oh well, guess it’s time to go earn some cash.
With the assistant’s role decided, it was time to kick off a live stream!
Before long, a live room named “Nuclear Bomb Little Sister’s Royal Stream” exploded in popularity on the official platform, quickly hitting the top of the charts.
In the streamed scene, Xu Xiaofeng was holding a piece of candy in her left hand, waving at the camera with her right, and constantly munching away, which made her voice come out a bit garbled.
“Hello, big sisters and big brothers! I… oops, we’re live again! Gulp~.”
She swallowed her candy.
“From now on, my big sister here will help out with the streams. The times will be irregular because she’s super busy with tons of stuff. So please support her a lot!”
In an instant, the comments section exploded.
“So cute! So cute! N”
“This is ten times better than those outside streams! Pure natural charm, I’m totally a fan now.”
“Without you for these last days, I’d have lost my mind! Do you know how I survived these five days!”
“Wait for me, streamer! I’ll be in the main city in three days!”
Except for players under level 10, everyone else already in the main city was tuned into the stream.
Those who couldn’t get there quickly, people busy with things, or even those on their way, were able to do their own stuff while keeping the stream on.
After all, the live room was part of the interface, and only they could see it.
The only thing one had to be careful of was to watch their path while walking.
And sure enough, within just a short time, plenty of players were falling into pits or colliding with poles.
And then there were the priests so glued to watching the stream they forgot to heal, resulting in their squad getting wiped; mages causing over-threats, rangers dealing zero damage.
As for the other classes? Try letting a melee fighter watch and see what happens.
