Chapter 10: Bai Feng, You Deserve to d*e!!
Bai Feng rubbed his temples, feeling like his brain was being squeezed by a thousand hemorrhoids. Suddenly, he remembered why Bai Yu Mo had barged into his life in the first place. So, he hurriedly switched the subject: “Alright, alright, aren’t you planning to go shopping or something? Let’s get moving—time’s ticking, and if we’re late, the store will be locked tighter than a clam in a clam festival.”
Though he suspected that shopping might spark some trouble, not going now would mean chaos sooner rather than later. So, best to fake his way through this mess first.
“Hm…” Bai Yu Mo dabbed at her eyes desperately, tears still brimming. When her emotional tsunami hit, calming down was easier said than done.
She instinctively leaned her head toward Bai Feng, but then paused, like she was weighing whether to do it or not.
Bai Feng, naturally sharp as a tack, caught her little move. To prevent the system from dumping more luck points into him—because he knew that was only inviting more trouble—he had to sacrifice himself a little.
So, he shifted from a gentle pat to an embrace, pulling her closer by wrapping his arm around her shoulders. His hand slowly lifted and gently ruffled her hair.
Ah, it’s been ages since he last stroked Yu Mo’s head—it still feels just as comfortable.
He could tell that Bai Yu Mo stiffened up, maybe about to protest, but surprisingly, she didn’t. Instead, she simply buried her face into his shoulder, quietly sobbing.
Bai Feng stood still. Sure, this scene looked warm and fuzzy, but honestly, all he wanted was to wrap this whole thing up ASAP.
Once her crying subsided, he finally lowered his hand from her head. “Feeling better?”
“Yeah…”
“Should we still hit the shopping district?”
“Yep!” Bai Yu Mo’s tone firmed up considerably. She wiped the tears from her cheeks, her face tinged with a blush, saying softly, “I… I need to wash up first.”
“Got it. I’ll wait for you at the door.”
Watching her hurriedly dash away, Bai Feng clicked the system, forcing a twitch at the corner of his mouth.
He did a quick mental tally—today, he’d gained a hundred luck points. The luck points quickly doubled!
At this rate, how could he not be pulled out and beaten by the Child of Destiny mobs?
He could feel Bai Yu Mo basically crackling with thunder. Any slight mistake might prompt a system notification that would blow up all his plans.
Next, he was stuck accompanying Yu Mo on her shopping spree. Hopefully, no more surprises popped up afterward.
Though he could refuse, he knew that doing so might trigger even worse things—maybe the system would show up with a big, terrifying surprise.
Farewell, my once low-maintenance little sister.
……
“Sorry, I took a bit longer to freshen up,” Bai Feng said as he peeked out the door.
His expression froze for a split second when he saw her.
What was she wearing? Bai Feng’s eyes widened. Bai Yu Mo wasn’t in her usual Heavenly Sword Sect disciple blue robes but in a purple dress, fluttered by the breeze with frilly hems that looked lively and playful. The purple on her dress added a touch of charm.
Her face was slightly flushed, shy yet adorable—like a pet hiding behind its owner, begging for an embrace.
But Bai Feng had no particular thoughts. Because, quite disturbingly, this dress—
Was drawn by him.
Mew, meow—what if Bai Yu Mo was also his fan? That’s way too weird!
Inside, he felt a wave of awkwardness—like accidentally drawing naughty pictures and then being caught by his family.
Wait a minute!
Suddenly, a bright idea flashed through Bai Feng’s mind—if Bai Yu Mo knew his identity, or was his fan, she definitely wouldn’t be wearing that dress out.
In fact, she probably had no idea where that dress came from.
Thinking of that, he cleared his throat and asked casually, “So, when did you get this outfit? It’s… quite a contrast.”
“Recommended by friends,” Bai Yu Mo whispered, avoiding eye contact. “They made a lot of clothes. It’s popular among the girls in the Heavenly Sword Sect.”
She looked down, obviously feeling she wasn’t quite selling it. Bai Feng, feeling a mix of complicated emotions, nodded. Luckily, it wasn’t some sexy, revealing getup, just a sweet, cute style—more for changing the vibe than seduction. Otherwise, he might have had trouble looking straight at his sister.
“Hmm, I find it a bit hard to get used to, too,” Bai Yu Mo admitted softly.
“Why the sudden change of clothes? I thought you’d keep wearing the Heavenly Sword Sect uniform,” Bai Feng changed the subject quickly, worried he’d slip up.
She hesitated, fingers fidgeting nervously. After a few seconds, she mumbled, “Just… wanted a change of image.”
She was determined to mend their relationship but knew the wounds from the past weren’t so easy to heal. So, she decided to start by improving her image—differentiating herself from her old self.
A little girl’s innocent thought.
“You’re going a bit overboard,” Bai Feng couldn’t help but complain. If he hadn’t known beforehand, he wouldn’t dare recognize her on the street.
Hearing this, Bai Yu Mo felt unexpectedly pleased. She remembered the scenes of them shopping together as kids. Without thinking, she reached out her hand—until she hesitated midway, looking at him as if asking for permission.
“No need to be so precious. I won’t bite. Want to hold my hand? Just do it,” Bai Feng said straightforwardly.
The moment her soft, boneless hand gripped his, he realized something—at their age, it was kind of weird for brother and sister to be holding hands walking down the street!
He looked up at Bai Yu Mo, who was blushing crimson, her eyes darting around nervously. She seemed aware of it too but didn’t let go, probably too shy.
Seeing her like that, Bai Feng’s lips curled into a sly grin. Playtime! Since she was the reason his luck points jumped by 80, he’d make her suffer a little.
So, he pretended not to notice, gripping her hand tighter and pulling her along: “Let’s go shopping.”
“Hmm…” Bai Yu Mo squeaked like a tiny mosquito, her cheeks burning even more. She wobbled as she walked, too nervous to speak, worried their fragile reconciliation would break apart now.
She kept dragging along, and when they reached the shopping district, she realized they’d walked a marathon.
No! This has to stop. She had to speak up—no more holding hands into the store!
But before she could protest, Bai Feng let go first.
“Like it? Feel like we’re back in the old days?” he grinned mischievously, a little too smug.
Bai Yu Mo caught on—that he was messing around. She puffed out her cheeks, annoyed at his teasing, already exhausted from her mental struggle.
Finally, she let out a small breath, little annoyed but still holding some affection—“It’s fun bullying your little sister?”
“Sorry! How about I buy you candied hawthorn as an apology?” Bai Feng said quickly, smoothing things over. But if there was a next time? Definitely not daring again.
Meanwhile, at a distant inn, Brother Chen suddenly woke up from his fainting spell.
He stood by the window, eyes locking onto Bai Yu Mo—dressed in that stunning purple dress—and the useless Bai Feng beside her.
His face twisted into a fiery red, like a boiled lobster. “Bai Feng, you b*stard!!”
He saw that Bai Yu Mo’s face was full of anger and reluctance. No doubt—Bai Feng, backed by his family, forced Bai Yu Mo to change outfits just to drag her out shopping.
That shameless, family-backed loser! How dare he treat Bai Yu Mo like that? This must come with a price!
And Lin Yan, helping out this useless piece of trash? He must also be no good. Today’s revenge? Well, it’s on him!
Wah dude…
