Chapter 11: Tired, Let’s Destroy It All
“Um, brother, let’s go check out that place over there!” Bai Yu Mo and Bai Feng strolled side by side, she peering towards a shop selling spiritual tools, pills, and all that shiny stuff. “I’ve got money now, so I can finally make up for those gifts I promised when I was a kid.”
“You remember? I nearly forgot,” Bai Feng chuckled. “Alright then, let’s go take a look. Your birthday’s coming up next month too. Since you probably won’t have time to come back then, I’ll give you a gift now in advance.”
As kids, Bai Yu Mo was brought home by their dad during a trip, so everyone was suspicious of her identity. She wasn’t bullied, but hardly anyone played with her. Her mom rarely gave her money.
So, he’d usually spend his own money to buy her little snacks and toys. But, being a proud kid, she didn’t want to accept them — she’d even promise, “When I grow up and have money, I’ll buy you better stuff!”
“No need, I don’t lack anything right now,” Bai Yu Mo shook her head. “You were always the one giving me gifts. I’ve never given you anything in return.”
“But didn’t you give me two little clay figurines? You spent an entire night making them! That counts as giving me a gift, right?”
“That was just clay, and they didn’t look good anyway…”
She looked a little embarrassed. She still remembered her sister’s birthday coming up, and she had no money to buy a present. So, she had the bright idea of molding two little clay dolls that looked like her and Bai Feng.
Thinking about it now, she still felt a bit awkward. She’d stayed up all night kneading those little clay figures, covered in mud, and got scolded by Bai Feng. But when she saw him happily accepting them the next day, her heart was genuinely joyful.
She suddenly became interested in those childhood clay figures, and asked Bai Feng, “By the way, what happened to those two dolls? I want to take them back and reinforce them, since they were just normal clay back then.”
“They’re broken,” Bai Feng shook his head. “Don’t you remember? When I was changing rooms, I accidentally bumped into the corner and knocked them off the table. They shattered on the floor. You got so angry you ran off.”
“They broke?”
Suddenly, Bai Yu Mo paused, frozen in place. She vaguely remembered that incident.
It was shortly after her bone excavation event, so she was still feeling pretty down, her mind running wild with strange thoughts. On her way back to her room, she had bumped into Bai Feng, who was living nearby.
She recalled feeling flustered, and didn’t want to be alone with Bai Feng, so she ran away quickly.
Why hadn’t she looked more carefully then?
She remembered Bai Feng liked those two ugly little clay figures — he always kept them on his desk. But her own birthday gift, the one she handmade, was the one she broke…
Her chest suddenly squeezed tight, as if being crushed by water in a deep sea. It felt like a stone was pressed against her chest, making it hard to breathe even with her mouth open.
“Are you okay? Did something happen? Don’t scare me!” Bai Feng saw her clutching her chest in pain and instantly realized he might have said the wrong thing.
d*mn it, probably again the system is going to snatch away my luck points!
Bai Yu Mo reached out and grabbed Bai Feng’s arm, slowly raising her head with a forced smile. “Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. It’s all my fault…”
“Stop saying that. I’m not mad at you,” Bai Feng nearly cried. If he kept talking, the system would definitely force-feed him more luck points.
【Congratulations, Host! Your critical hit caused Child of Destiny Bai Yu Mo to feel intense regret, increasing your luck points by +100. Since this is your first time reaching a three-digit luck score, your reward has upgraded to the Array Mastery!】
‘……’
Sigh, I’m so tired. Time to destroy everything.
“Brother, am I really such an annoying pest?” Bai Yu Mo lowered her head, her mood clearly off. Bai Feng could sense her feelings weren’t quite right. “You were always so nice to me, giving me everything in childhood, even letting me have the best stuff… yet I still doubted you over trivial things, and even cut ties with you over the past few years…”
“I don’t blame you. If I were in your place, I’d probably be even more extreme,” Bai Feng said. “Alright, stop talking. Let’s find a place to rest, okay?”
He noticed the eyes of nearby passersby on them, as if judging a scumbag. But if he was a scumbag, that’d be better—because he was actually Bai Feng’s little sister, and a Child of Destiny flooding him with luck points.
“Brother, you only know how to comfort me. I get it. Over these years, I’ve been like a wolf with white eyes,” she continued, her voice trembling. “Maybe this Celestial Bone isn’t supposed to be on me…”
“Enough. Let’s go rest over there,” Bai Feng sighed, gripping her arm, and they turned away from the busy street together.
He didn’t notice that, from afar, a fiery gaze watched them, unmistakably burning with intensity.
……
Using his familiarity with the street layout, Bai Feng turned left and right, finally stopping at a bridge with almost no lights and no one around.
He looked back; Bai Yu Mo still had that gloomy, vacant look. Her eyes—seriously, it made his temper rise.
If he hadn’t interrupted just then, she might have burst into tears again, and the system would have forcefully dumped more luck points on him, no doubt.
Clay figurines always have some fire, not to mention his sister giving him 180 luck points all by herself. He really wanted to grab her, sit her on his lap, and smack her bottom good!
“Alright, enough daydreaming,” Bai Feng plopped onto the steps. “Do you think I did all this for you? Nope—I did it for myself. I don’t care about the Celestial Bone anymore. Don’t overestimate your importance. The only reason I talk to you is because you’re my sister.”
“Came here to comfort you and now you’re crying again? Huh? Want me to keep being nice and soft? Back when you made mistakes, you at least knew how to apologize. Now? Besides crying, what else can you do? You’re even worse than when you were a kid!”
“d*mn it, what did I do to get such a sister? If you’re too scared to see me, just leave. Go to Heavenly Sword Sect and don’t bother showing up in front of me. It just annoys me!”
The more he spoke, the angrier he got—even if the system kept piling on luck points, he didn’t care anymore. Today, he had to vent his frustration.
If Bai Yu Mo kept crying and refused to leave, he’d drag her over and give her a good slap—no doubt about it!
But the scene he’d imagined didn’t happen. Bai Yu Mo not only kept her composure but stared at him intently, her eyes shining with a strange light.
Then, she took a tear from the corner of her eye, smiled softly, and said, “Brother, you’re still the same as before, not much has changed.”
Bai Feng stared, dumbfounded.
Did I just listen to your endless whining, and now you’re saying that?
Fine, fine, I’ll pretend this means something. Lots of comfort, then insults—you’re happy, aren’t you?
“You’re right, brother,” she said, sitting on the steps. “If I’ve made mistakes, I need to change. Feeling guilty doesn’t solve anything.” She looked up at the starry sky. “I’m not going back to Heavenly Sword Sect. I want to fulfill the promise I made when I was a kid.”
Bai Feng’s eyes widened in disbelief.
What the hell do you understand now?
