Chapter 117: If You Can Clear Out the Demon Energy, I’ll Be Your Dog – Deal?
The demon energy here is so thick you could drown in it—a veritable swamp of evil fumes.
Bai Feng opens his eyes and carefully surveys his surroundings.
All he sees is barren land, with dirt constantly oozing black demon energy. Not a single plant in sight.
He lifts his head to look up. The sky is also shrouded in demon energy, yet oddly, it doesn’t make the place dark. It’s just… there. Like some secret realm he explored before—mysterious and slightly spooky.
‘When did I get caught in this trap?’
Bai Feng ponders for a few seconds. It’s not a teleportation charm issue—he remembers clearly: he saw the city lord’s mansion’s gate, and Bai Yu Mo was still tucked in his arms.
His only guess: it’s probably that Black Lotus messing around again.
He doesn’t dwell on it. That’s not the priority right now. The big question is: how does he get out of here?
Suddenly, the demon energy around him starts swirling wildly, transforming into fierce monsters that land on the ground and circle him ominously.
Bai Feng reaches out and touches the jade stone given by the Sect Master, calm as ever.
‘Seems like these monsters don’t have much IQ.’
He sizes up the monsters. They stand stiffly, motionless, like living black sculptures—dead to the world.
Then, unexpectedly, the monsters retreat to either side. A familiar silhouette appears in front of him.
It’s Zuo Qiu, standing right in the middle of the monsters. She raises her hand, and the demon energy floating on the ground suddenly turns into chains that wrap around Bai Feng’s legs.
But then she stops, showing a seemingly gentle smile: “Don’t be scared. How about we have a little chat first?”
“What do you want to talk about?”
Bai Feng glances down at the chains, which are tight but still not unbreakable. He could struggle free—just… he hesitates.
He glances at the swirling demon energy beside him. If he tries to break free, those demon spirits might turn into new chains, or worse—something even more binding.
“Honestly, I’m also a victim here,” Zuo Qiu shrugs. “Half of my spiritual energy is contaminated with demon energy. I can’t even control my own body right now.”
“So… you’re asking me for help?” Bai Feng narrows his eyes. “You don’t seem like the kind of person eager for help.”
“No, I admire your array-fu, but I don’t think you can help me get rid of Black Lotus’s control,” she shakes her head. “I’m just trying not to be the scapegoat. If you’re mad, take it out on Black Lotus.”
“But you don’t seem like someone who’d get guilty about this kind of thing. Plus, if you k*ll me here, Heavenly Sword Sect and the White Family won’t just let you off easy.”
Bai Feng can’t quite figure out her true intent—she’s stalling? Preparing some big move? He sneaks a glance with the Yin-Yang Pattern, but sees no sign of spiritual or demon energy gathering.
And what she says, maybe she’s not voluntarily cooperating with Black Lotus—maybe she’s just putting on a show for him.
Zuo Qiu laughs and nods without denying: “If you can leave me alive, I hope you’ll leave a note for them, asking them to let me go and focus on Black Lotus.”
“Are you joking?”
Bai Feng watches her. She looks… well, she’s not bad-looking, considering she’s the Child of Destiny. But thinking about it, she’s got quite the ambition—and a mind of her own.
Is she trying to stir his anger, letting demon energy slip in unnoticed?
“Of course not, I’m serious,” she shakes her head. “If you spare me, I’ll help you take revenge—that black Lotus, even the Central Continent’s Divine Monarch—I swear I’ll destroy them all. Cross my heart.”
When she mentions Black Lotus, a flash of hostility flickers in her eyes. Bai Feng can feel the hatred behind her words.
He stares at her for a while. Seems like she’s either forced into this—or her acting skills are so good, they’re scary.
Since he can’t be sure of her true motives, he decides to play along for now.
“Oh? So, if I let you go, you’re planning to go wipe out Black Lotus and even the Divine Monarch?”
“Ha! Of course I am, I always keep my word,” Zuo Qiu’s smile turns even kinder as she pulls out paper and brush. “Come on, hurry up and write something.”
Bai Feng takes the paper and brush. He looks at her eagerness, then suddenly, a blazing fire ignites around him, burning the paper, the brush, and even the chains binding him—everything reduces to ashes.
In the next moment, like gasoline on fire, flames spread rapidly, turning the sky red.
The demon energy around him shrinks back like it’s seen its worst nightmare, dispersing into the wind.
“What is this thing?”
Zuo Qiu’s eyes widen as a wave of fire rushes toward her. She falls onto the ground, the flames halting abruptly in front of her, scorching heat pounding at her. She can feel the terrifying power to burn everything—so much so that even her demon energy stagnates, no longer lively like before.
“So… what do you think now?”
Bai Feng stands amid the flames, lowering his head to look at Zuo Qiu.
