Chapter 128: It Was Not an Accident, It Was Deliberate!
At this point, Bai Yu Mo stretched out a hand to rub her eyes and sat up in bed. Her face looked a tad dazed. “Good morning.”
“Morning.” Bai Feng casually nodded and then shot her a look. “Aren’t you going to explain yourself?”
“Uh…” Bai Yu Mo suddenly snapped to attention. She shrank her head, giving Bai Feng a sheepish look, and then quickly explained, “Well… after my massage, I was planning to rest a bit before heading back, but I accidentally fell asleep.”
Before Bai Feng could ask more, she hurriedly added, a bit panicked, “It’s mainly because last night I started thinking about old times. Remember how, whenever it rained in summer, we’d chat and play on the bed? Since we hadn’t talked like that in ages, I just lay there reminiscing about the good old days… and then, I accidentally fell asleep…”
Hearing this, Bai Feng also recalled childhood memories.
Bai Yu Mo was terribly afraid of thunder as a kid, so whenever a storm rolled in, he’d sneak into her room to keep her company—boosting his popularity points. At first, she put up a fight, but as soon as lightning lit up the sky, she’d soften instantly, curling up into his arms with a look of pure terror. Even when he was waiting to leave after she fell asleep, she’d wake up just in time to cling onto him, not letting go.
Now that he thought about it, it was pretty funny.
“Forget it, I won’t pursue it this time.” Bai Feng waved dismissively, then added with a serious tone, “But you should also be more careful. You’re not a child anymore. Although we’re siblings, living to the outside world as if we’re attached at the hip isn’t a good look for your reputation.”
“Yeah, yeah, I will.” Bai Yu Mo nodded quickly, though inside she was thinking, *I wasn’t just sleeping by accident last night—I deliberately curled up next to him to sleep…*
“Oh, brother, what do you want for breakfast?”
“Noodles,” Bai Feng replied.
…
After breakfast, Bai Yu Mo headed to her master’s to continue practicing. Bai Feng also began working on making array disks.
Not long after starting, he heard a faint knocking at the door.
Judging by the force and position, it was probably Su Lan Qian.
Bai Feng pushed open the door, just as he guessed. Standing outside was indeed Su Lan Qian.
“Um, I’m here to help…” Su Lan Qian lowered her head and whispered softly, “Do you need help making the array disks?”
“Of course! I just ran out of the ones I was using in battle and was about to ask for help.” Bai Feng nodded. He was naturally not opposed to requests. “Actually, I need to craft some new array disks soon. Sister Su, if you have time, you can come by and help. I’ll pay you for it.”
“Hmm…” Su Lan Qian quickly nodded. “No need for payment. You’ve already taught me quite a bit.”
“Then, can I also give you the pencils I’ve used?” Bai Feng chuckled, reaching into his pocket to produce a short, half-chewed pencil.
“…Yes,” she replied, her cheeks flushing. She kept her head down and spoke softly but firmly.
Bai Feng stifled a laugh. Every time he saw her like this, he couldn’t resist teasing her. He handed her the pencil. “Alright, just joking. Here, take this. The reward is something else.”
“…Mm,” she accepted without hesitation, reddening even more. Carefully, she pocketed the pencil, ensuring it was stored safely.
…
“Is the big array finally finished?”
While working on the array disks, Bai Feng suddenly sensed something unusual. He set down his work and hurried out of the room. Up in the sky, a semi-transparent film seemed to be covering the city, with intricate array symbols swirling continuously overhead.
“Looks like we can finally head back.”
He withdrew his gaze, feeling a bit relieved. Once the big array construction was done, he probably wouldn’t need to go out again—at least, for a while.
He could finally relax for a bit.
Meanwhile, Su Lan Qian, who had been helping with the array disks, quickly stepped out of his house, also looking at the unusual sky. She felt a touch of reluctance.
Back at the sect, could she still help Bai Feng craft array disks? Even if she couldn’t sleep over at Bai Feng’s place like she did the first night, just being in his house during the day satisfied her.
“But building that big array really took so much time and effort! I thought it’d be quicker,” Bai Feng shook his head.
“Actually, my master made some modifications to the array structure so it could be activated early,” Su Lan Qian whispered, explaining. “That’s why the construction got a bit more complicated later.”
“I see.” Bai Feng nodded, understanding. Without his master and Su Lan Qian’s help, escaping from the demon woman might have been impossible. “It’s just a pity I don’t know what my master likes. I haven’t figured out what gift to give her to thank her yet.”
“Hmm…” Su Lan Qian lowered her head to think. She shook her head. “My master isn’t particularly interested in anything besides array techniques.”
But she recalled that a few times she saw her master reading the Spring and Autumn Annals. Is that suitable as a gift, though?
“Array techniques, huh…” Bai Feng pondered. Then he remembered he’d received a somewhat interesting array formation technique as a system reward—a damaged terrain array. It wasn’t very practical, but it was good for research.
If he couldn’t think of a better gift, maybe he could just copy the terrain array manual and give it to Master Liu Meng.

“Thanks, Sister Su. I’ve got a plan,” Bai Feng said with gratitude.
“Ah…” Su Lan Qian was still lost in thoughts about the Spring and Autumn Annals when Bai Feng spoke. She suddenly realized and her face started to heat up. “N-No, I didn’t come up with anything…”
Should she also give her master a gift?
After solving a tricky problem, Bai Feng looked up at the shimmering array symbols above and casually started chatting: “By the way, does it really take so long to activate a big array?”
“Master is probably testing it out, to make sure there are no errors,” Su Lan Qian explained. “It’ll still take a while.”
She also looked up at the array symbols. After several days working with Bai Feng on the disks, she had gradually overcome her mental barrier and stopped feeling uneasy about array techniques.
But being alone still made her nervous. Being next to Bai Feng felt peaceful.
“I see.”
Bai Feng nodded, understanding. Testing bugs and errors? Easy.
Before long, the semi-transparent film above vanished, and Liu Meng also returned, landing beside Bai Feng and Su Lan Qian.
“Master,”*2
Liu Meng waved her hand. Seeing Bai Feng and Su Lan Qian, her slightly exhausted face broke into a faint smile. “It seems you’re both unscathed. That’s a relief.”
“Thanks to your and Sister Su’s timely rescue,” Bai Feng said gratefully.
Liu Meng shook her head. “It’s partly my fault for insisting you come here to help.”
“Moreover…” she glanced at the somewhat evasive Su Lan Qian, her smile growing warmer. “If you really want to thank me, just thank Lan Qian. I only analyzed the situation briefly, and she insisted on waiting in the southeast of the city.”
Su Lan Qian’s cheeks flushed pink again as she muttered softly, “So, you’re saying I should wait in the southeast, right?”
“Alright, that’s enough of that,” Liu Meng teased with a smile. “Let’s go see City Lord Gu. They’re probably itching to see us already.”
