Chapter 148: Bai Feng – Show Me Your Determination
“Good, then you can pick a comfy position first.”
Bai Feng nodded and set aside a few precious pills. After thinking for a few seconds, he also took out a vial of spirit water and a towel.
Zuo Qiu looked at the precious pills beside her, and her heart sank faster than a stone. Nope, no happiness here—just pure panic.
“What’s wrong?” Bai Feng tilted his head, giving her a side-eye.
“Nothing, nothing at all.”
Zuo Qiu’s face wore a grin that was uglier than a pouting cat, and she hurried to cross her legs and sit down — preferably unconscious right now.
“Alright, let’s begin.”
Bai Feng started to ignite the Immortal Fire, releasing a torrent of flames toward Zuo Qiu.
In an instant, her body seemed to transform into a black hole, a powerful magnet that devoured all the flames swirling around her.
“Hmm…”
Zuo Qiu clenched her teeth so hard her jaw might shatter, clutching her clothes as if they were the last life raft on a sinking ship. Bai Feng even heard fabric ripping.
Unlike last time, this round she didn’t feel the flames wandering inside her—no, this time they soothed straight into her flesh and bl**d.
She felt as if she was being roasted from the inside out—her skin reddening, and white hot steam constantly billowing out.
While this wasn’t painfully sharp like before, it definitely wasn’t a walk in the park either.
“Open your mouth.”
Just as she was about to pass out, a voice suddenly whispered in her ear. Instinctively, she parted her lips.
Next, some hands pinched her face, and a few pills were shoved into her mouth.
A cool sensation flooded her mouth, drawing her from the brink of semi-consciousness.
“Swallow.”
Following Bai Feng’s command, Zuo Qiu gulped the pills, but her internal heat remained stubbornly high. Only her consciousness sharpened to a razor’s edge, and every sensation doubly intensified—like her pain receptors were blasting stereo.
She even started to wonder if she had offended Bai Feng somehow, because if this was punishment, it was next-level.
Meanwhile, Bai Feng glanced at his own hand, which was red from touching her cheek, and couldn’t help but mutter:
Her body temperature was way too high!
Especially now that Zuo Qiu was nearly fainting, Bai Feng noticed her temperature spiraling out of control—some parts of her garment turning a charred black. He quickly fed her another pill to bring her back from the edge.
His main task was to keep a close eye on her, making sure she stayed awake.
A moment later, he saw her temperature start to spike again. He grabbed a damp towel and gently wiped her face—this wasn’t for cooling but to keep her alert:
“Stay awake. Don’t fall asleep.”
Zuo Qiu grimaced and finally managed to open her eyes, glancing at Bai Feng holding the wet towel.
“Don’t you still want revenge on the Black Lotus? Don’t you thirst for powerful strength? Well, here it is—if you can hold on.”
“Come on, let’s see your resolve.”
She nodded grimly, grit teeth clenching harder, enduring the burning agony of her body.
And if she couldn’t hold out any longer? Bai Feng would just feed her another pill.
Gradually, her body’s temperature began to drop, but her aura kept intensifying. Her aura was roaring back to the top of the Golden Core stage.
Seeing this, Bai Feng lowered the damp towel.
‘Did I succeed?’
He stared at Zuo Qiu; her skin was now as white and lustrous as jade, smooth and glowing, and her cultivation had reinforced to late Golden Core.
As her temperature continued to fall, she opened her eyes.
In an instant, flames traced glowing patterns on her skin, and her explosive Spirit Power surged outward in a wild, uncontrollable burst.
“Not bad.”
A voice echoed in her ear, and her turbulent Spirit Power suddenly settled down, obeying.
She sneaked a glance at Bai Feng and, seeing he wasn’t angry, let out a small breath of relief.
Thinking about everything she’d just endured sent a shiver down her spine.
She definitely didn’t want a repeat.
“How do you feel?”
Bai Feng reached out and touched her exposed arm, sensing the high internal heat.
But he hadn’t yet found a divine body that matched Zuo Qiu’s characteristics.
“Quite good!” she nodded and lifted her right hand, summoning a flickering flame. “I’m completely unafraid of Demon Energy now.”
‘Immortal Fire? No, that’s not quite right.’
Bai Feng studied the flame in her hand. Though it looked like the Immortal Fire, it was significantly weaker—more like a diluted version of it, just a stronger Spirit Flame.
Is it a Sun Body? Or a Fire Spirit Body? Nothing quite fit.
Then, he noticed her smooth, jade-like skin—a trait that could match a divine body.
But if he remembered correctly, that divine body was the Immaculate Body, which was impervious to all spells—yet that didn’t match her current state.
‘Could it be a new kind of divine body?’ he wondered silently.
Divine bodies hadn’t appeared for a very long time. The last record was over a thousand years ago. If there was a mutation, it wasn’t surprising. Plus, she didn’t show her divine body at first—only after being infused with Demon Energy and then burnt by his Immortal Fire did it resurface. A mutation? Totally possible.
Just as Bai Feng prepared to test her divine body, he suddenly sensed her internal temperature plummeting again. Her fiery patterns on her skin faded, even her skin returned to its normal hue—though now it was even more porcelain white.
“Wh-what’s happening?” she panicked. Could she really have endured all that torment just to last a little?
“Calm down.”
Bai Feng put a hand on her shoulder, sensing that her body was no longer the same. Her divine body had awakened—yet it seemed to be temporarily dormant due to lack of energy.
Could it be that he was right? Her divine body was incomplete?
He summoned a bit of Immortal Fire once more, carefully inserting it into her body while she looked at him with wide eyes, trembling.
The familiar blazing heat returned, but this time it wasn’t as intense and even felt a little comfortable. Her body once again shimmered with fiery marks.
She looked down at herself, puzzled.
“Sure enough.” Bai Feng nodded, explaining as she looked puzzled. “Your divine body isn’t fully developed yet. It might be immature, which is why it needs extra energy to fully activate.”
She pondered silently, realizing she’d need Bai Feng nearby to unleash her full divine potential.
On second thought… this might actually be a good thing for her!
