Chapter 162: Master Sister Yu Yao: Maybe I Should Dance for You
A few minutes later, Bai Feng saw angry Yu Yao storm out of her room, looking as if she wanted to roast someone over an open flame.
“Sorry for the show,” she breathed deeply, trying to get her temper under control. “Let’s go to my room and rest. That way, my mom shouldn’t bother you anymore.”
“…Okay,” Bai Feng managed, unsure what else to say.
Honestly, how did Yu Yao Master Sister manage to grow up in this environment without turning into a psycho? Well, she does occasionally go full crazy, but let’s just call that “character development.”
Bai Yu Mo walked behind Bai Feng, her expression as bland as unsalted tofu. Maybe before she’d be a bit annoyed if she’d encountered this kind of scene, but now? Her heart was totally at peace—probably because she’d done much crazier things herself.
Ha! See? They’re seasoned survivors!
‘Heh, I’ve matured too,’ she thought, smirking to herself.
—
“By the way, Master Sister, what about the cat that dances?” Bai Feng sat in a chair, sipping tea and nibbling on snacks. But honestly? Even tastier than the snacks was that mysterious dancing cat Yu Yao mentioned.
“I’m also searching,” Yu Yao was leaning by the window, staring out with a faraway look. “Strange… I’ve been gone from home so long that perhaps Little Snow forgot about me?”
She finished speaking, then suddenly crawled out the window with gusto: “Wait for me! I’ll go find her!”
Ten minutes later, Bai Feng heard the door creak open. Without thinking, he looked up—and there she was: Yu Yao, with cat ears, strutting in like she owned the place.
She looked slightly embarrassed, eyes flicking away shyly, muttering, “Uh, I couldn’t find Little Snow… maybe I should dance for you instead…”
Bai Feng: “…”
Honestly, he suspected she was just using the “dancing cat” excuse to lure him over. d*mn it! He’d always thought there were no cute dance-wielding cats in the immortal world — but here she was, proving him wrong!
“No, I’m telling the truth!” Yu Yao blushed furiously, pulling off her cat ears and mumbling while pinching them. “Stupid cat, doesn’t know where it’s sleeping now… If I catch it, I’ll punish it—no fish for a month!”
Meanwhile, her mother suddenly peeked in from outside, waving happily. “Yao’er, are you looking for Little Snow? She was just sleeping on my lap. Don’t blame her!”
She handed over a tiny, snow-white cat that was smaller than your average kitty. Its bright blue eyes sparkled, and on its forehead, a pattern that looked like an eye glowed faintly.
‘Three-eyed spirit cat? Hmm, seems like a not-so-pure bloodline—smaller, and the forehead markings aren’t very clear,’ Bai Feng thought to himself.
No wonder it learned to dance; among monster beasts, a three-eyed spirit cat with early Foundation Establishment level intelligence (about seven or eight-year-old human kid) would be a pretty smart little critter.
“But didn’t you used to hate cats, Mom?” Yu Yao took Little Snow, eyes suspicious. “And now you let it sleep on your lap?”
“Oh, that’s because you’re off at Heavenly Sword Sect training. I’m all alone at home, and honestly? It can get kinda lonely,” her mother sighed wistfully. “Wish I had a grandson or granddaughter with the Bai surname—someone handsome, smart, and with a bit of Array talent. Oh, or a granddaughter. That’d be great too!”
“…Get out!” Yu Yao snapped, completely fed up. She shoved her mother out and locked the door behind her.
Whew. She took a deep breath, sweat on her brow. Next time, she wouldn’t bring Bai Feng to her place if she knew this was going to happen.
“Master Sister, calm down. Here, have a snack,” Bai Feng chuckled quietly, watching Yu Yao’s embarrassed expression.
“I knew I shouldn’t have written so much in the letter,” Yu Yao grumbled, biting into a pastry.
“Is this the dancing cat you mentioned?” Bai Feng gently rubbed Little Snow’s head, sitting on the ground and picking her up.
Little Snow didn’t dodge but instead enjoyed the gentle petting, purring softly.
“Cute, right?” Yu Yao reached over and stroked Little Snow too. “But I remember, she didn’t like being held by anyone else. Why’s she so obedient with you?”
Little Snow tilted her head, then nuzzled into Bai Feng’s arms.
Just ten minutes ago…
She was snoozing by the window when Yu Yao’s mom quietly scooped her up.
“Meow!”
“Shhh, don’t make a sound,” her mother whispered, tiptoeing inside with the little fish drier nearly as tall as herself, placing it front of Little Snow.
The cat looked at the towering dried fish without much joy, taking a hesitant step back.
“Let’s make a deal,” her mom smiled mysteriously. “Help Yu Yao get that guy she’s after, and these fish are yours—and you can eat fish anytime you want after that.”
The cat pondered, eyes flicking over the mountain of fish.
Finally, it nodded. “Meow!”
—
Back in the present, Little Snow looked at Bai Feng, feeling a bit conflicted. How was she supposed to help her owner get that guy? She was just a kitten!
“Come on, Little Snow. Dance for me!” Yu Yao suddenly lifted Little Snow from Bai Feng’s arms and placed her on the floor.
Looking into her owner’s expectant eyes, Little Snow felt a bit of hesitation.
Did she really have to dance just because Bai Feng asked? Just a little? For… a way to help her owner?
But, well, under the pressure of her master’s gaze, she reluctantly lifted her tiny paws and twirled her body.
She’d learned to dance because she often saw Bai Feng sneaking away into his room alone, trying to cheer him up. Now? It was being used for… this?
Wait a minute!
Isn’t all this just what she hoped for? If her dance could help her owner win that guy, she’d have countless fish to eat!
Excited by the thought, she danced even more vigorously.
Suddenly, a knock at the door.
“Junior Brother, you play with Little Snow. I’ll see who’s knocking,” Yu Yao called out, leaving.
Bai Feng looked at the lively Little Snow and remembered a meme he once saw online. With a grin, he turned to Bai Yu Mo.
“Yu Mo, give me a piece of spiritual beast meat.”
Bai Yu Mo looked a bit puzzled but still handed over a piece.
Bai Feng cut the meat into strips, squatting down with a smile to Little Snow.
“Hey, Little Snow. I’ll teach you a few moves. If you can learn them, this meat is yours.”
