**Chapter 18: Now Everyone Looks Like a Demon Woman to Me**
“There’s been way too much trouble lately; is the system gearing up for something?”
Bai Feng couldn’t help but mumble, thinking about all the chaos that had happened recently.
【Beep, this system will not interfere with the host in any way. Please do not elevate your actions to the level of the system.】
Bai Feng: “…”
Suppressing the urge to retort, he was forced to reconsider his plans of entering the Heavenly Sword Sect when his life was at risk.
First of all, avoiding the Child of Destiny was not his main goal—it’s merely a means to an end, and that end was simply to live a long life.
However, since his current situation was starting to clash with his objectives, he had to rethink things.
Plus, he could have a strange Child of Destiny staying at the Bai Family for a few days in the future. Just the thought of dealing with a new child of destiny gave him a headache. Therefore, joining the Heavenly Sword Sect didn’t seem like such a bad option anymore.
After all, there were two Children of Destiny there whom he knew, and their relationship was quite good. With their backing, he could easily loaf around the Heavenly Sword Sect!
With this thought, Bai Feng immediately sought out Bai Tian You, who was still busy, and stated his purpose:
“Dad, I’m going to the Heavenly Sword Sect. Keep this under wraps and arrange for a stand-in for me at the Bai Family. I’ll sneak away.”
Bai Tian You: “?”
Is it really necessary? It’s just that the Hundred Faced Saintess from the Holy Heart Sect has her eyes on you, right? You don’t need to sneak out to the Heavenly Sword Sect, do you? Or do you think the Bai Family can’t protect you anymore?
And weren’t you the one who didn’t want to go before?
Bai Tian You never expected that a demon woman would cause his son so much stress that he now wanted to practice at the Heavenly Sword Sect.
If it weren’t for that demon woman scheming after his son, he might have even wanted to thank her personally.
Bai Tian You waved his hand dismissively, “No need. In a few days, I’ll personally take you over.”
But Bai Feng shook his head, “No way! I’ve developed demon woman PTSD! Now everyone looks like a demon woman to me!”
Bai Tian You: “…”
So how about me? Do I look like a demon woman?
Ultimately, Bai Tian You sighed. What could he do—he only had this one son!
Going to the Heavenly Sword Sect would also allow him to investigate the matter thoroughly without holding back.
“Fine, I’ll arrange a carriage for you shortly, and the Grand Elder will accompany you.”
“No way! A carriage is too conspicuous! I want to walk there with the Grand Elder!”
“……”
Can you please not be so cowardly, being my son Bai Tian You?
……
Outside Blue Rainbow City.
In a dense forest, a dark figure suddenly fell from the sky.
A hideous bl**d mark marred her originally smooth and beautiful back, looking extremely terrifying.
This person was the Hundred Faced Saintess, also known as Qiu Er. Obviously, even though she had escaped the Bai Family, it didn’t come without cost.
She held a golden talisman in her hand, which turned to black ash and dissipated. With a more serious look in her charming eyes, she remarked, “No wonder the Bai Family has a battle god; they really are ruthlessly efficient.”
Taking out a pill, she opened her luscious mouth and swallowed it whole.
One hand delicately brushed over the gory wound on her back, which soon began to heal, expelling the residual sword qi as well.
The Hundred Faced Saintess donned a long robe edged with gold, and as she slipped it on, her entire aura transformed, resembling a savvy businesswoman.
“I still need a few subordinates.” She turned to look behind her, spotting a merchant caravan passing by on the distant main road, “Hmm~ got it.”
She wasn’t going to give up easily; she planned to re-enter Blue Rainbow City.
Even though the city was likely on lockdown by now, she, as the Hundred Faced Saintess, thrived in such thrilling situations. The Bai Family probably never thought she would dare to return!
Not only this time, but she always enjoyed going back to the “scene of the crime” to observe, all while no one could recognize her identity or even discuss her right in front of her— that feeling was simply irresistible.
……
“Little Feng, do we really need to rush like this?”
An old man appeared to be moving slowly, yet no matter how fast the young man in front of him walked, he always managed to keep up effortlessly.
“Second Grandpa, you don’t understand! The demon woman’s look at me was terrifying—she was sizing me up like I was her next meal!” Bai Feng shook his head, even quickening his pace a bit, “I feel like she won’t give up easily. Maybe she’s watching outside the Bai Family right now!”
“You’re overthinking it.” The old man chuckled lightly, “Forget it; you’re moving too slowly. How can we get to the Heavenly Sword Sect at this rate? Come here, I’ll carry you.”
“Uh…” Bai Feng halted, looked around, and then whispered, “Second Grandpa, do you make a lot of noise when you run? If you do, let’s walk a bit further before flying out of Blue Rainbow City!”
The old man’s eyes widened: “What? You don’t trust your second grandpa? Back in the day, I was known as the Ghostly Swordsman because I could move without making a sound. By the time they noticed me, my sword was already at their throats!”
“Second Grandpa, so strong!” Bai Feng clapped excitedly, “Can you teach me? Just for the experience of scaring people!”
“Get outta here with that talk!” The old man grabbed Bai Feng by the back of his collar, and the two swiftly darted away into the distance. “If you want to learn, work hard to become a Golden Core first!”
……
At the Heavenly Sword Sect.
A boy appearing to be around fourteen or fifteen stood at the entrance, smiling as he addressed the old man: “Are you here with your junior to take part in the Heavenly Sword Sect assessment? Please come this way.”
Bai Feng looked at the Heavenly Sword Sect’s entrance. Rather than a door, it was more like a gigantic broken sword stuck in the mountainside.
Not to mention, it did have a certain flair at first glance.
Although he had participated in the Heavenly Sword Sect assessment before, as the young master of the Bai Family, he didn’t need to come personally; an elder was invited to conduct the assessment at the Bai Family.
So this was technically his first time visiting the Heavenly Sword Sect.
Bai Feng shifted his gaze back and quickly caught up with the boy, and as he moved forward, the number of passersby steadily increased.
No doubt, these folks were here for the Heavenly Sword Sect assessment.
The Heavenly Sword Sect had a unique assessment approach: while talent accounted for a significant portion, those with special skills or great perseverance could still join, unlike other sects that kicked you out for lacking talent.
This was partly because the Heavenly Sword Sect, a heavyweight in the Northern Region, was not only wealthy but also held a large array of resources, thereby able to cultivate disciples who might not be exceptionally talented, but had good temperaments.
“Please register here,” the boy said, stopping and turning back to Bai Feng with a smile.
Next to him sat a young man in his twenties, his expression blank or perhaps simply expressionless as he looked at Bai Feng: “Name, place your hand on this stone and inject a bit of spirit power. If you don’t have any spirit power, forget it.”
“Bai Feng.”
As he spoke, Bai Feng placed his hand on the stone, and soon it emitted a faint glow, indicating that his talent was average.
However, both the boy and the young man paused their actions, with the boy’s smile vanishing and the young man no longer looking like a statue. They both fixated their gaze on Bai Feng: “You’re the Bai Feng from the Bai Family?”
