Chapter 186: Feeling Like I Totally Took Yu Yao Down… And Not in a Good Way
Morning.
Bai Yu Mo stretched out her hand and pushed open the door to her bedroom, then tiptoed over to the bed and leaned down, whispering into Bai Feng’s ear, “Brother, wake up.”
“Huh, is that Yu Mo?”
Bai Feng let out a yawn and slowly sat up in bed.
Went to bed too late last night…
Thinking about what happened last night, he couldn’t help but rub his throbbing forehead — he, too, had been so furious he took Zuo Qiu for a walk around the room multiple times.
“Brother, what’s wrong? Did you not sleep well?”
Facing Bai Yu Mo’s concern, Bai Feng suddenly felt a little guilty. Some things from last night just couldn’t be spoken of!
“Just stayed up a bit longer.” He shook his head casually, trying to brush it off.
“How about I give you a massage tonight?” Bai Yu Mo eyed Bai Feng up and down and then suggested, “I guarantee you’ll sleep like a baby.”
“That would be great, Yu Mo.” Bai Feng didn’t refuse; lately the system had been stressing him out, and he really needed to relax.
Bai Yu Mo grinned with a smile: “Then let’s go eat first.”
A few minutes later, Bai Feng was sitting at the dining table eating breakfast when he suddenly saw Little Snow fiddling with his window.
“You’re quite punctual.”
Bai Feng raised his hand and nudged the window open. Little Snow slipped right in.
He was about to pull out the specially prepared beast meat when he suddenly remembered the “100 Ways to Make Spirit Pets Happy” system had given him last night.
So he paused, looked at Little Snow and grinned: “Xiao Xue, wanna try some new breakfast flavors?”
Xiao Xue tilted its head: “Meow?”
Bai Feng selected some cat-specific food suitable for the three-eyed spirit cat, only to realize that making it required herbs too.
He stroked his chin, pondering for a few seconds, then got up and pushed open the door: “Xiao Xue, wait for me a little longer.”
Little Snow looked at him suspiciously, utterly puzzled about what her future master was thinking.
Just as she wondered whether to go back home and eat, Bai Feng pushed open the door again, carrying the herbs he’d fetched.
“Xiao Xue, hold on a few more minutes!”
After that, he stepped back into the bedroom, beckoned the Immortal Fire, and began preparing the pet food.
The method resembled alchemy but was much simpler — just keeping the essence of the herbs, mixing it with beast meat and other ingredients, then forging it over a flame until it formed irregular little balls resembling cat food.
Although Bai Feng hadn’t personally refined pills, handling ingredients was routine for him, so making a batch of cat food was no sweat.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.” Bai Feng carried in a plate of the strange-looking balls and placed it in front of Xiao Xue. “Want to try it?”
Xiao Xue tilted its head at the dark, misshapen spheres, feeling that maybe this wasn’t exactly normal.
Is it because I’ve been eating so often that the master is annoyed? Or why else would he feed me this stuff?
But seeing Bai Feng’s expectant gaze, it didn’t want to be rude and simply looked at the food.
‘Master, for you, I am all in, meow!’
Xiao Xue’s unwavering expression as it stepped forward, sniffing the balls and then licking them, its eyes sparkling with delight — hmm, smells pretty good!
Without hesitation, it lowered its head and started munching.
“Eat slowly, and if it’s not enough, there’s more!”
Bai Feng beamed, reaching out to pet Xiao Xue’s back. But Xiao Xue didn’t react and kept gnawing contentedly.
It was incredibly tasty, and it felt the spirit energy inside it was practically pouring out.
“Brother? Why’d you just go out?”
Bai Yu Mo carried the last dish in from the kitchen, curiosity evident in her voice as she asked Bai Feng.
“I asked Lin Yan for some herbs to make Xiao Xue some cat food,” Bai Feng explained, pointing at Xiao Xue who was happily eating. “See? Xiao Xue actually likes it.”
“Cat food?”
Bai Yu Mo looked at the irregular, dark-colored spheres on the plate, and her reaction was just about the same as Xiao Xue’s — can I eat this? Seriously?
And Xiao Xue, who had previously doubted the food, was now completely blocking out the world, scarfing down every last piece until the plate was empty. It then licked the emptiness and looked satisfied.
“Looks like Xiao Xue really likes it.”
Bai Feng reached out to stroke Xiao Xue’s fur but then suddenly sensed something amiss. Xiao Xue’s spirit energy seemed way too abundant.
“Meow!”
At that moment, Xiao Xue let out a pained cry, curling up instinctively.
“What’s happening?”
Bai Feng hurriedly picked up Xiao Xue and checked. Could it be a problem with the recipe?
Suddenly, he noticed Xiao Xue’s spirit energy began to whirl wildly, and its aura shot up rapidly.
“Meow~!”
Xiao Xue suddenly let out a blissful cry, and its cultivation suddenly reached the Foundation Establishment mid-stage.
“Turns out it was breaking through. Scared me half to d*ath,” Bai Feng exhaled in relief, gently setting Xiao Xue down.
Although he knew this cat food improved spirit pet cultivation speed, he never imagined it would work so well — a meal that boosted it from early Foundation Establishment to mid-stage in one go.
“Meow~~”
Xiao Xue rubbed its head against Bai Feng’s foot, seemingly expressing gratitude.
And maybe it was just his imagination, but Xiao Xue’s meow sounded a little… strained.
He knelt, petting Xiao Xue’s head, which then half-closed its eyes and rubbed his hand with its head — much more affectionate than before.
Though it was somewhat affectionate earlier, it still felt a little forced, mostly just lying quietly and occasionally reacting when teased.
‘Hmm… I suddenly feel like I cowed Yu Yao… in a good way.’
Bai Feng watched Xiao Xue act spoiled and hoped Yu Yao wouldn’t be too mad if she saw this.
—
“Ugh, being a princess is such a pain…”
Shui Miao Miao sank gloomily onto her bed. Unlike the other disciples of Heavenly Sword Sect, who only needed to train and spar, she, as the Princess of Eastern Continent, had way more on her plate.
Constant banquet invitations kept pouring in, and she couldn’t refuse many of them. Even the previous head of the Yu family, celebrating over 514 years of age with a grand birthday, sent her an invitation.
Crazy much? Who celebrates a 514th birthday? Are the Yu family members even all there in the head?
On top of that, she hadn’t received many good news lately — especially with Eastern Continent in even more chaos. She just feels lucky she escaped in time.
“When I go back, will Eastern Continent still even be there?”
She whispered softly.
Maybe I should find a talented, handsome genius to marry and stay in the Northern Region?
It’s not that she had no feelings for Eastern Continent. She just knew her own weight, and because of her personality, she had no real backing there. She might even end up being forced into an arranged marriage with a monster tribe in the Southern Region by her siblings once she returns.
So, she might as well find a genius in the Northern Region to marry.
