Chapter 214: I Feel Like She’s Just Trying to Run Away
“Then you’ll stay here for now.”
Yù Yao stood in a rather spacious room, handing her maid the task of tidying up.
Then she turned to the blindfolded girl: “Just tell the servants if you need anything. Oh right, what’s your name?”
“Uh, I’m… Siku…” Chu Chu suddenly hesitated, then corrected herself, “No, I’m Chu Chu. Just call me Chu Chu.”
Yù Yao stroked her chin, muttering, “Looks like she’s from the Siku Family in Central Continent. And I’ve heard rumors about a genius with an immortal eye, but they’ve been hiding her like a treasure… barely ever seen. Now it seems…”
She lifted her head, glancing at Bai Feng for a moment, then whispered, “What a huge difference.”
Suddenly, she thought of something. “Hey, does Yu Mo know about this?”
“Her memories are sealed,” Bai Feng shook his head. “But my father probably knows something. I’ll go ask him later.”
“And that guy you captured? He should know something too, right?” Yù Yao asked curiously.
Bai Feng shook his head again. “Asked him already. Other than the third Miss from the Siku Family demanding Chu Chu’s bl**d, he knows almost nothing—just a tool following orders, doing the dirty work.”
After saying that, he turned to Chu Chu, who was trying her best to look composed, and smiled comfortingly. “You rest here for now. If you need anything, just tell us.”
“Mm, thanks.” Chu Chu nodded.
‘Why does she seem pretty wary of me?’
Bai Feng scratched his chin, pondering. Previously when Yu Mo visited his home, she didn’t seem so guarded, right?
Could it be that even if she can’t see, his passive ‘mockery’ still affects her?
“Little Junior Brother, shall we head back?” Yù Yao asked, tugging gently at his sleeve.
“Let’s go back first,” Bai Feng nodded. “That employee Fang Yue isn’t arriving until this afternoon anyway, no rush now.”
He had left early this time simply to scout out the place and lay some formations—just in case someone good at hiding tried to sneak in.
He already marked the demon girl with a signal. As long as she shows up, he’ll know immediately. Plus, now he’s Yuan Ying, which is why he’s confident enough to leave the Heavenly Sword Sect.
…
Qing Zhu Peak.
“Senior Sister, I’m going to find Yu Mo. Can you tell the master for me?”
“Got it, leave it to me!”
The two parted ways.
Bai Feng strode quickly to Bai Yu Mo’s door. He pushed the door, but it was locked.
“Not home?”
After thinking for a few seconds, he went to his own room. Instead of rushing straight to the small connecting door, he used a formation to observe from a distance.
His expression turned a bit strange. He hurried to the bedroom door and pushed it open—only to see Bai Yu Mo rolling around on the bed, hugging his blanket.
At that moment, she stopped her tumble, a blush creeping over her face. She lowered her head, silently pulling the blanket up over herself.
Bai Feng stepped over calmly. “Yu Mo…”
“… ”
Bai Yu Mo stayed beneath the blanket, completely motionless.
He gently patted the blanket. “Okay, okay, I have something important to tell you.”
She peeked out from the corner of the blanket with big eyes.
Bai Feng studied her for a few seconds, then, just as she was about to retreat again, he continued, “It’s about your background.”
“My background?” Bai Yu Mo paused, slowly revealing half her face, blushing with a hint of confusion.
“I happened to meet your sister when I went out,” Bai Feng said smoothly.
“…Eh?”
Bai Yu Mo froze slightly. When did she have a sister?
Bai Feng continued, “She looks a lot like you. When I first saw her, I nearly mistook her for you…”
He recounted how he met Chu Chu, and gradually Bai Yu Mo fell into deep thought.
“So basically, she came specifically to see you. My senior sister and I temporarily arranged for her at Yu Ling Long. Do you want to meet her?”
“… ”
Bai Yu Mo remained silent for a few seconds, then looked up at Bai Feng. “Bro, do you want me to see her?”
“This is your business, don’t ask me,” Bai Feng smiled wryly. He thought she might be overthinking a bit, so he reached out and gently patted her head, softly saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll always stand behind you. You’ll always be my…”
Before he finished, Bai Yu Mo quickly pressed her finger against his mouth, slightly turning her gaze away. “I don’t want to just be your little sister…”
“Mm, not just your sister,” Bai Feng chuckled and shook his head. “Alright then, are you ready to decide?”
Bai Yu Mo nodded gently. “Let’s go see her.”
She was indeed curious about her sister and also wanted to ask who was hunting her down all those years ago, as well as her biological parents’ whereabouts.
…
“They seem to have all left,” Chu Chu slowed her breathing, listening carefully outside.
It didn’t sound like anyone was guarding her place.
Or perhaps the guards are high-level cultivators deliberately concealing their presence—that’s unlikely though.
She pondered for a few seconds, then decided to test the waters.
She picked up a wooden stick by her bed, pretending to be bored as she pushed open the door and stepped into the backyard.
‘No one’s guarding after all?’
She wandered slowly in the yard, unbothered, until no one warned her away.
Gradually gaining confidence, she moved toward the wall, using her wooden stick to measure its height.
No one stopped her during this process either.
‘Could I have guessed wrong? Maybe they aren’t planning to imprison me after all?’
She instinctively wondered in her heart, but then shook her head. Maybe this is all part of their plan; better to run now.
She started walking along the wall, searching for a climbable tree or a water barrel.
Meanwhile, Yù Yao slowly pushed open the door, Bai Feng and Bai Yu Mo entering the house.
Through a window, they saw Chu Chu probing the wall.
“What’s she doing?” Yù Yao asked, puzzled. “Is that some sort of training method from Central Continent?”
“I think she’s just trying to run away,” Bai Feng replied, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
