Chapter 22: Hand Over the Control Stuff for Senior Sister Bai!
White Feng tag-teamed with Chu Ning Yan and arrived at Green Bamboo Peak. First order of business? His trusty system jumped into action to scan the place like a snooping detective on caffeine.
“Well, not bad,” he thought, “Aside from Bai Yu Mo, I don’t see many other Child of Destiny types hanging around.”
Though—he took a quick glance around, matching the name—this peak was basically a giant bamboo forest in glorious shades of green, so no surprises there.
“Your situation’s a bit special, so I need to run this by the Sect Master,” Bai Feng said, patting Chu Ning Yan on the shoulder. “For now, you’ll stay on Green Bamboo Peak.”
Chu Ning Yan shot a quick look at Bai Yu Mo, who was trying to straighten her expression like a seasoned actor. “Just stay next door to Yu Mo. Plus, you two siblings can chat and bond. Family vibes, right?”
Bai Feng froze mid-step. Great. So, he’d be camping here for a few days. Figures.
But hey, in a dangerous yet mysterious environment, having a good Child of Destiny buddy might actually be useful.
“Got it, Elder Chu! Thanks a lot!”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll go report to the Sect Master. Won’t bother you two.” Chu Ning Yan nodded happily, then turned to address Bai Yu Mo with a few friendly reminders: “Yu Mo, take Bai Feng around the Heavenly Sword Sect. Show him the ropes, the zones, the cute little corners.”
This wasn’t just because Bai Yu Mo was Bai Feng’s little sister — no, she also carried a mission to squash some rumors.
Bai Feng had joined the sect, plus his talent in Array Formation was out of this world. Any wild gossip? Better to clear that up so everyone can focus on the real deal.
Bai Yu Mo understood her master’s intentions instantly. She nodded eagerly: “Yes, Master!”
Once Chu Ning Yan left, Bai Feng turned his head and found Bai Yu Mo looking right back at him.
“Oh, take me to where I’ll be staying,” he muttered, sighing internally. Honestly, he didn’t find her all that annoying anymore—especially in this weird, alien environment. Bai Yu Mo somehow made him feel a little safer.
And then there was Lin Yan, his undercover fanboy—also a Child of Destiny—who could provide extra security. Hmm… maybe it’s time for a little “hello” chat soon.
—
The houses on Green Bamboo Peak looked pretty basic – mostly bamboo sticks and a few wooden planks.
Inside, it was just the essentials: a bed, a couple of tables, some chairs, and a sitting mat for meditation. Nothing fancy.
“Pretty nice, really,” Bai Feng said, nodding at the humble abode.
“Yeah, it’s a bit rustic…” Bai Yu Mo scratched her head, feeling a tad embarrassed. Her master was all about classic, no-frills style—focused on cultivating the mind and feeling nature’s vibe without shiny decorations.
This influence rubbed off on the sect’s disciples, including Bai Yu Mo.
“Eh, it’s fine! Good change of scenery, right?” Bai Feng waved a hand, already determining that this was just a temporary stay—like an exotic vacation.
“Oh! Brother, want to tour the sect?” Bai Yu Mo’s eyes sparkled with hope. “But, if you’re tired, we can do it tomorrow. I’ve got plenty of free time lately.”
“Let’s go then! I’m curious about this Heavenly Sword Sect anyway,” Bai Feng agreed, also wanting to check how many other Child of Destiny types were lurking around.
After all, this was probably where he’d live from now on, so best to get the scoop.
“Yep! Let’s start at the Quest Hall—the main hall for missions. It’s close to the main peak, easy to find…”
Bai Yu Mo chattered happily, while Bai Feng kept an eye on his System’s Child of Destiny detector.
He’d thought there’d be lots of Child of Destiny people here, but surprisingly, on this whole walk, he didn’t spot many.
Did they all just head out? Or were they busy training? Or maybe they preferred small clans and skipped big sects?
He secretly wondered in his mind.
But—good news! That meant he could relax. Less competition, fewer troublemakers, more peace. Less chaos, more Chi—wait, wait, focus.
“Here’s Dan Peak,” Bai Yu Mo announced. “If you want pills, this is the place. Pretty straightforward, huh?”
Even after walking for a while, she still smiled happily. “Brother, where to next?”
“Um… let’s head back,” Bai Feng replied with a forced smile, feeling a little unnerved. The surrounding sect disciples—especially the loudest ones—looked like they wanted to peel him alive. Yeah, no thanks.
Suddenly, a disciple jumped out in front of him, blocking the path with a serious expression.
“Bai Feng, your tricks are impressive,” he said, eyes narrowed with simmering anger. “You might fool others, but not me!”
Then he turned to Bai Yu Mo, shouting, “Junior Sister Bai, forget about Bai Family stuff here! Don’t worry! We can help you handle him! Trust the Heavenly Sword Sect!”
Bai Yu Mo blinked at him.
Huh? What’s going on?
