**Chapter 245: Do You Think I’m a Brain-Dead Fox? Just a Bit of Food, How Could I…**
“Right here.”
Bai Feng halted his steps, noting the ground littered with the corpses of monster beasts and several disciples from various sects mixed in.
He furrowed his brows; it seemed like Zuo Qiu had been singled out by that behind-the-scenes player.
But why target Zuo Qiu? Could it be because of the Divine Body?
He shook his head to dismiss the thoughts and continued exploring.
Meanwhile, Zuo Qiu sprinted ahead, though her condition was less than stellar. She was uninjured but her Spirit Power was nearly depleted, and strands of black mist were wrapping around her. A faint flame flickered, barely resisting the encroaching Demon Energy.
Suddenly, a hawk’s cry echoed from above.
Zuo Qiu swiftly turned and swung her blade, but a red-eyed hawk easily dodged and slammed into her wrist.
Exhausted, she couldn’t maintain her grip on the long blade, which went flying.
The pursuing monster beasts arrived, with a thick tail swinging toward her thigh, knocking her off her feet and blocking her escape route.
Bracing herself with the long kn*fe, Zuo Qiu struggled to stand, feeling pain in her thigh. Her bones were likely unbroken, but walking was out of the question.
Clearly, the enemy had panicked and decided not to capture her alive anymore.
Steeling herself against the approaching monsters, she swore—if she couldn’t escape, then…
Flames surged to life again; she wouldn’t leave a single trace of her body behind for the enemy.
Although Demon Energy was seeping into her body, disrupting her Spirit Power, she still had the spark of fire Bai Feng had given her. She just needed to ignite it…
Too bad she couldn’t take revenge herself or stay by Bai Feng’s side.
Licking her dry lips, she was just about to ignite the spark when the monster before her suddenly split in half.
“That was close; I almost arrived too late.”
A familiar figure appeared in front of her.
She rubbed her eyes, the burning mark on her tongue confirming this wasn’t a dying hallucination.
Bai Feng flicked away the bl**d from his sword and looked at Zuo Qiu’s disheveled state. He snapped his fingers, and suddenly ferocious flames engulfed her, burning away the Demon Energy binding her.
“Master… cough, Young Master! What are you doing here?”
Zuo Qiu instinctively called out, but changed her words at the sight of Bai Feng’s narrowed eyes.
“I came looking for you because I need your help.” Bai Feng pulled out a few pills. “Open wide.”
Zuo Qiu quickly obliged, watching as he placed the precious pills in her mouth.
“Hurry and heal up; I’ll handle the rest.”
Bai Feng dropped a formation plate for basic protection and turned to face the remaining monster beasts, whose sharp teeth and ferocious red eyes fixated on him.
“Huh? Did the illusion fail? Is someone manipulating it from behind?”
He murmured softly, scratching his head.
Since the illusion wouldn’t work, he might as well just chop them to bits.
He quickly tossed out several formation plates, linking them into place.
At the same time, Bai Yu Mo and Yun Yue Yao had already prepared, dense Sword Qi targeted the trapped monsters.
Tian Yan wasn’t just watching either; she took out a coin and tossed it at one of the monsters. The coin hit precisely at the spot of its injury, tearing it open instantaneously.
Even though the monster had lost sensation, the ripped muscle made it stumble before smashing its head against a sharp rock.
The Nine-Tailed Fox occasionally jumped atop the heads of the trapped monsters, raising its paw and giving a slap.
…
“This should be the last one.”
Bai Feng sheathed his sword, the ground now a mound of monster corpses.
“So many of the monster tribe have been corrupted by Demon Energy.”
The Nine-Tailed Fox’s expression grew serious. If Bai Feng hadn’t treated Zuo Qiu in time, it might have joined the pile.
Who was the vile guy messing things up in this Secret Realm?
“This might be worse than I thought.” Bai Feng pondered for a few seconds. “We should gather the disciples from the sects and the Holy Land.”
With Zuo Qiu acting as a walking Demon Energy detector, he didn’t worry about asymptomatic infiltrators.
“Sure, I can help with that.”
Tian Yan raised her hand, looking quite eager.
“Thanks a lot.” Bai Feng nodded, accepting her help without hesitation. “Let’s head back and see if Junior Sister Li’s medicine is ready.”
He turned to Zuo Qiu, who was sitting cross-legged to heal. “Zuo Qiu, can you walk?”
“Yeah, thanks for your concern, Young Master! I feel much better after the pills!”
Zuo Qiu nodded and stood up with her kn*fe, though it was clear she still wobbled, as her thigh injury hadn’t fully healed.
“Do you need help?”
At Bai Feng’s concern, Zuo Qiu quickly shook her head under the gazes of Bai Yu Mo and Yun Yue Yao, “No need to worry, Young Master! I’m fine!”
“Uh…” Bai Feng thought for a second before glancing at the yawning Nine-Tailed Fox beside him. He crouched down next to it and asked, “Could you grow a bit bigger and carry her back?”
“Eh… I’m the Nine-Tailed Fox, a servant of the Immortal…” The Nine-Tailed Fox looked reluctant and clearly didn’t want to be a temporary mount.
Bai Feng rubbed his chin. He felt like if he pressured it a bit, it would eventually agree, but he had a better idea.
He pulled out a bag of cat food that Little Snow usually ate—from what was called cat food, other meat-eating spirit beasts could eat it too. After all, spirit beasts didn’t discriminate between cat and dog; it was just categorized by meat eaters and non-meat eaters.
“If you help out, I can give you a pack of this.”
“Do you think I’m a brain-dead fox? Just a bit of food, how could I—”
As the Nine-Tailed Fox was saying this, it suddenly caught a whiff of something delicious. It took a sneaky glance at Bai Feng, who had opened the bag and was wafting the aroma towards it with a fan.
It instinctively swallowed, thinking how unfair it was that this human food smelled so good, and how much it wanted to taste it…
So it grudgingly modified its response, “But since you’re a friend of my master, I guess I’ll reluctantly agree.”
“Thank you! When we get back, I’ll make you a delicious meal.”
Bai Feng smiled and handed the cat food to the Nine-Tailed Fox. It hurriedly used one of its tails to curl around the food, which vanished in no time within its massive tail.
‘Is this some sort of interdimensional storage space?’ Bai Feng couldn’t help but mentally scoff at the sight.
