Chapter 257: Is that big tail really capable of doing that?
“Big bro, why are you going out alone again?”
Bai Yu Mo stood at the door with her cheeks puffed, all cute and suspiciously adorable.
“I saw you sleeping so soundly, I didn’t have the heart to wake you up,” Bai Feng said awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. “And I was just stepping out to buy some materials, not leaving the camp or anything dangerous.”
“At least tell me next time! It’s getting more and more dangerous out there…” she muttered with a hint of displeasure.
“Yeah, yeah, next time I’ll tell you,” Bai Feng chuckled, ruffling her hair.
Bai Yu Mo wasn’t really mad, she sighed and tugged at Bai Feng’s sleeve. “I’ve already prepared breakfast. Come eat with me.”
Bai Feng sat at the dining table, glancing at Yun Yue Yao’s room. They seemed to have some silent agreement—rarely appearing together. Like now, he was eating breakfast, and Yun Yue Yao was probably curled up in her room.
After a simple breakfast, Bai Feng returned to his usual focus—researching formations. Bai Yu Mo went back to her room to cultivate.
“Finally done.”
After a busy morning, Bai Feng let out a sigh of relief. There were about six or seven formation disks in front of him. Unlike normal formations, the Extermination Sword Array was way more complex than he imagined. Plus, it was incomplete; compressing it into a portable formation was basically impossible.
But he had a clever trick up his sleeve: make multiple disks first, then use the Yin-Yang Pattern’s new ability to connect them.
The price? Setting up the formation took some time. But considering the power of the Extermination Sword Array, that tiny inconvenience was nothing.
“Meow…”
“Huh? Little Snow’s here?” Bai Feng grinned, scooping up Little Snow. “Speaking of which, you’ve been way too clingy lately. If Yu Yao sees this, she’ll probably start nagging me again.”
“Meow~~”
Little Snow pretended not to understand, rubbing against his arm.
“Want some cat food?” Bai Feng reached out, scratching her head, then grabbed a handful of kibble, placing it in front of her.
But this time, Little Snow didn’t dive straight into the food. Instead, it sat on Bai Feng’s lap, gently resting its head on his wrist, occasionally nibbling a mouthful.
“Not hungry?”
Bai Feng stroked Little Snow’s back. Recently, he couldn’t quite figure out her behavior. Usually, when she was close, it was because she was hungry and wanted something to eat. Or sometimes she’d nap comfortably on his lap.
But recently, she had been unusually clingy without any apparent reason. At first, he thought she might be asking for help from him, but now it seemed that was not the case.
‘Could it be because Little Jiu came, and she’s sensing the crisis?’
He chuckled inwardly.
Meanwhile, Little Snow—the one on his lap—was secretly furious.
‘d*mn big tail, do you think you can just snatch my owner away?!’
In her mind, she was grumbling. She had initially wondered why Yu Yao’s master was so paranoid about others, but now she understood!
A spiritual pet should only belong to her. There was no way she would let another pet come over and share her owner!
Fortunately, that big tail wasn’t really interested in sharing; it was merely pressured by another person. Although kicking it out was unrealistic, she could leverage the difference in attitude to win more of Bai Feng’s affection!
With that thought, she rubbed against Bai Feng’s arm again, then rolled onto her back, exposing her belly for him to pet.
Haha, can that big tail really do what it wants to?
Bai Feng looked at his overly obedient Little Snow, feeling a bit off—something was just a little unusual.
‘Did her favorability actually reach a critical point?’
He gently stroked her belly, pondering silently.
As he played with Little Snow, suddenly, a golden twin-tailed figure slowly peeked out from outside the window.
Bai Feng looked at Tian Yan and silently pointed at the door: “Go through the front.”
But Tian Yan didn’t seem inclined to walk through the front; she placed her hand on the window frame instead.
“One piece of cake.”
No sooner had she spoken than the golden twin tails vanished like a mirage. It was as if she’d been a hallucination. But then, just a few seconds later, there was a knock at the door.
Bai Feng: “……”
This girl, her obsession with cake is a little too intense, isn’t it?
“The door’s not locked; just open it yourself.”
He sighed helplessly, placing Little Snow back on his chair. Then he headed to the kitchen to grab a regular cream cake.
When he came out, Tian Yan was already sitting at the dining table, holding her own utensils, waiting for the cake to appear.
“Is there something you need this time?” Bai Feng pushed the cake toward her and sat down beside her, asking.
“The battle’s about to start; a bunch of monster beasts are gathering here,” Tian Yan said as she continued to eat her cake, unbothered. “Recently, more and more people have been attacked outside. That guy can’t take it anymore.”
“Are they finally coming?” Bai Feng nodded, not too surprised. “Found his lair yet?”
“Nope. All those places are empty,” Tian Yan shook her head. “But I bet he’ll show up in the upcoming fight.”
“That guy is pretty cautious,” Bai Feng lamented, shaking his head.
Then he noticed the empty plate and Tian Yan licking what remained on her spoon, smirking. “Maybe I should get you a set of baking tools—you could make your own cake whenever you want.”
But Tian Yan shook her head. “I don’t really want cake that much…”
Under Bai Feng’s gaze, she finally couldn’t hold her expression and a faint blush showed on her face. She averted her eyes and softly admitted: “Mine doesn’t taste as good as yours, and you know more recipes than I do.”
“But if you learn it yourself, wouldn’t you be able to eat whenever you want?”
Tian Yan thought for a few seconds, then looked up and said, “I can do that now.”
“……So you’re determined to get me, huh?” Bai Feng sighed helplessly. “It’s okay in the secret realm, but what if after leaving?”
“I’ve been thinking differently lately. Instead of coming to Central Continent as planned, I’ll come find you myself,” Tian Yan said calmly. “So, after leaving the secret realm, I’ll still follow you.”
“Stop bothering me!”
How obsessed is this girl with cake? She’s the saintess of Tian Yan Holy Land! Why would she follow him all the way to the Northern Region just for a slice of cake?
“Forget it……” Bai Feng waved his hand, feeling a bit defeated. Honestly, this wasn’t a bad thing—Tian Yan wasn’t a Child of Destiny, but she was quite powerful, just a little mysterious.
Really, the only major flaw was her way of showing up—so unpredictable. He was even a little worried that one day he’d wake up and find her crawling out from under his bed asking, “Good morning!”
“There’s leftover cake in the kitchen. If you want some, just eat it all,”
After all, enemies are about to attack too—wasting it would be a pity.
“I don’t want any…”
Under Bai Feng’s watchful eye, Tian Yan finally lowered her head and whispered, “Thank you.”
