Chapter 27: As Long as You Give Them This, Boys Will Be Super Happy
“Can’t even find Brother Lin? Hmm, that’s a bit tricky.”
Bai Feng wasn’t all that surprised; he’d known for a while that he was being watched by the Child of Destiny.
Too bad he had no idea who this Child of Destiny actually was.
This system really is a lazy bum—it doesn’t even bother to show a name.
【Ding! When Luck Points reach 1,000, the name display function unlocks.】
Bai Feng: “……”
Forget it, I’d rather not.
Lin Yan saw Bai Feng go silent and assumed he was worried about this, so he patted his chest confidently. “Bro Bai, don’t worry! With me here, I swear I’ll find that little tail!”
“Thanks a lot, Brother Lin.” Bai Feng wasn’t about to reject. “But if you find any clues, don’t go and act first.”
He really didn’t want a notification popping up saying, “Hey, use the Child of Destiny to whack the Child of Destiny’s little brother.”
“Rest assured, I’ll be sure to tell Bro Bai first,” Lin Yan nodded, clearly thinking Bai Feng was planning to take matters into his own hands. So his job was to quickly find out who was mastermind-ing behind the scenes.
……
After chatting for a while, Lin Yan said his farewells and left.
Before Bai Feng could even get back to his study, Bai Yumo pushed open the door and barged in.
“Little Sis, I won’t say anything if you don’t knock, but could you maybe try to level up your cultivation instead of just wandering into my place all the time?”
Bai Feng looked somewhat speechless. Sure, he did crave a bit of security, but he didn’t need his sister to come knocking down his door every day! It was like she thought this was her own home.
He suspected that if he invited Bai Yumo to live with him, she’d probably say yes.
“I can cultivate here too; I even progress faster than over there,” Bai Yumo said as she skillfully set down the ingredients into the kitchen. “Big Brother, what do you want to eat today?”
“…Been eating too greasy lately, something light would be nice.”
Bai Feng watched Bai Yumo bustling in the kitchen, feeling something was just… off.
When did my relationship with Yumo turn this strange?
My little sister looks less like a sister and more like… a nagging old mom taking care of my daily needs.
“Oh! If my training is so fast here, I’ll install a Spirit Gathering Array in your room too,” Bai Feng said while watching her tie her apron and masterfully turn on the Spirit Gas stove to cook. His eyes twinkled with subtle meanings. “If you like this kind of thing, I can set one up for you at the same time.”
“Let’s think about it later,” Bai Yumo casually shifted the topic. “Oh, by the way, Master Sister Ji from Purple Cloud Peak invited us over for a feast.”
“Eh? Luo Chen’s getting married?”
“No, it’s because the little disciple of Purple Cloud Peak just broke through to Foundation Establishment, and since Master Sister Yu Yao has a good relationship with them, they’re celebrating together.”
Bai Feng fell silent for a few seconds. “And we’re actually going?”
“Nope, not interested,” Bai Feng shook his head. Though he loved gossip, he wasn’t crazy enough to go to Purple Cloud Peak—especially not when Luo Chen’s the luckiest kid in the world, and the peak’s probably full of little thugs from the Child of Destiny club trying to pick fights with him.
“Well, then I’ll tell Yu Yao about it later,” Bai Yumo nodded, then expertly placed the finished dishes onto plates.
Bai Feng had thought that would be the end of it—until…
A few nights later, Bai Feng sat by the window, propping his chin with one hand, listening to the lively noises outside. But honestly, he just felt annoyed.
Why did the celebration get moved to Green Bamboo Peak?
“Little Junior Brother, stop holed up in your room! Come out and have some fun!”
A cheerful voice called from outside. Bai Feng ignored it; a moment later, he saw a tiny head poke out from the window.
It was a ‘little girl’ who didn’t even reach his chest. She was leaning on the windowsill, tiny legs stomping furiously.
“Little Junior Brother, I knew you’d be here!”
Bai Feng looked at this small nuisance and sighed. That’s Master Sister Yu Yao, but her brain seems to have stopped growing along with her body, so she often does weird things.
Seeing Bai Feng’s disinterest, Yu Yao awkwardly chuckled, apologizing. “Sorry, I saw you hiding in your room and hardly ever coming out, so I thought I’d throw a little party to cheer you up.”
Ah, so the reason for the Green Bamboo Peak gathering was because of you!
He really feels like tossing her tiny legs off the mountain.
“Is it possible I don’t go out because I’m researching Array formations?”
Bai Feng sighed again. He actually thinks well of Yu Yao—over the past month on Green Bamboo Peak, she’s often helped him and Bai Yumo, definitely a decent person. Just… her thinking is a little too aligned with her height.
Yu Yao awkwardly smiled, “Sorry, sorry! Is there anything you want? Sister will buy it for you!”
“…Just because I joined Green Bamboo Peak later doesn’t mean I’m younger,” Bai Feng said again, feeling exhausted. His little apprenticeship is tough enough; giving him a ‘Little Emperor’ book just isn’t fair.
He sighs even more. Honestly, Bai Yumo was more worry-free as a kid than this girl.
“Come on, come on! I even invited a senior and junior sister from Purple Cloud Peak. If you’re interested, I can introduce you,” Yu Yao whispered, eyes glinting like a secret agent sneaking around.
“No thanks, not interested in Purple Cloud Peak’s sisters,” Bai Feng said without hesitation. Purple Cloud Peak belongs to Luo Chen, the luckiest Child of Destiny, and—especially—because they’re smitten with him so much their heads might be upside down. He’d only get trouble if he involved himself with that mess.
“Eh, then if you agree, I’ll give you a present. I guarantee you’ll like it,” Yu Yao said, glancing around even more cautiously this time. “But don’t tell anyone! I barely managed to get this thing.”
She pulled out a book from her storage bag, its cover strangely familiar—especially the flowing spring and autumn characters, making him feel like he was rushing back to his manuscript deadlines.
Bai Feng looked at the Spring and Autumn book stuffed into his arms, then at Yu Yao’s expectant face.
He wasn’t sure what expression he should make anymore.
You give a new disciple who’s only been in the sect a month a little imperial uncle? Which disciple can survive that test?
But his ‘Little Emperor’ author can.
“Senior Sister, why do you have this book?” Bai Feng sighed deeply.
“Because I heard that if you give this to boys, they’ll be super happy,” Yu Yao said with a big smile (???) like she was super clever. “Plus, the book’s just a little scantily clad—nothing about boys and girls together.”
“But it’s got exposed parts besides those three spots!”
Yu Yao suddenly pretended to be surprised. “Huh? Have you looked at it too?”
Bai Feng’s face was deadpan. “Has Bai Yumo not told you? I live in Qinghong City.”
After hearing that, Yu Yao suddenly brightened. She clambered onto the windowsill, excited. “Then can you help me get a few copies?”
Bai Feng: “?”
Let his little disciple be a Little Emperor? Does that even sound right?
