Chapter 273: How Did Senior Sister Su Shijie Become So Clingy?
Su Lan Qian tentatively reached out her hand, but froze mid-air, as if she wanted to touch him but was afraid—afraid this was just a dream.
Bai Feng saw her hesitation and chuckled, then got up from his seat and hugged her. “Yep, I’m back.”
Suddenly, Su Lan Qian buried her face into Bai Feng’s chest, instinctively taking a deep breath and carefully savoring his scent.
“All right, all right, just a hug for a bit, okay?”
Bai Feng rubbed her head, but she showed no sign of letting go.
“Not enough…”
Still wanting more…
She let out a soft gasp, her cheeks flushing slightly. She longed to remove the awkward barriers of clothing and get even closer to feel his presence, to be wrapped in his aura.
“Senior Sister Su?”
After several calls, Bai Feng finally managed to snap her back to reality. She slightly shifted her gaze, gripping his arm even tighter. “Just… a few more minutes.”
“Maybe I should sit on a chair first, then you can hold me?” Bai Feng’s voice seemed a little helpless. He’d only been in the Secret Realm for a bit over a month, yet as soon as he saw her, she turned into this clingy little koala. Could it be the Heart Demon’s aftereffects?
Silence lingered for a few seconds. Su Lan Qian nodded, easing her grip a little but not letting go entirely.
Noticing this, Bai Feng didn’t insist—they both knew better than to push. Instead, he took two steps back and sat down, allowing her to sit on his lap naturally, her head nearly resting on his chest.
‘…You really sat down like that!’ Bai Feng thought with a mix of helplessness. ‘Calm down. Focus on the task.’
He took a deep breath, catching a whiff of her delicate fragrance. His composure that was already shaky began to falter, yet he forced himself to focus on the message transmission method instead.
His Self-Control had seriously diminished lately.
Luckily, as he started contemplating how to improve it, his inner calm gradually returned.
After some time, Su Lan Qian shifted her body slightly, as if finally satisfied, no longer clinging so desperately.
“Is there anything I can help with?” she asked softly, glancing at Bai Feng’s draft.
“Of course there is! Work’s never done,” Bai Feng chuckled. “But first, I’m curious—how much have you learned over this past month? How much progress?”
“Our master says I’ve made pretty good progress, but I still can’t compete with you,” she replied, recalling the difficult days of study—almost every day, she’d squeeze in practicing Array techniques, even with her sleep on the bedside table stacked with books.
“Huh… Yeah, you do look a bit more haggard than before,” Bai Feng lowered his head, inspecting her chin with a touch. Looking more carefully, he finally noticed the faint dark circles under her eyes. “Since that’s the case, I have a first task for you.”
In her expectant gaze, he took off his long robes and draped them over her shoulders. “Now, go get a good rest immediately. Come back refreshed, then help out again.”
“Mm…”
Su Lan Qian tightened her grip on the robe and obediently curled up into his embrace for a rest.
Bai Feng: “…”
No, I meant—go lie down and recuperate.
Just as he was considering how to say it, he saw her suddenly straighten her body, then slip off his lap and walk over to bring a couple of chairs. She pushed them together, then laid herself across and rested her head on his leg.
She looked up cautiously and asked, “Is it ok?”
“…It’s fine. You rest well first,” Bai Feng sighed. What else could he say? At least, that’s an improvement over her previous clinginess.
He resumed working on his message transmission method, while Su Lan Qian, lying on his leg, gradually fell into even breathing, peaceful and steady.
Though the chair was stiff and a bit cramped, this time she slept remarkably soundly.
…
Water Miao Miao sighed as she gazed at the remaining meatballs in the jar, carefully stuffing them into her storage bag.
She had to save these last few for a special occasion.
Her eyes then drifted down to the pile of tasks on the table, and she couldn’t help but fold forward, feeling completely defeated.
Why was it like this? Were her brothers and sisters brainless? How could they still fight each other?
Since returning to Eastern Continent, she learned a bit more about the situation there. And, seeing what she saw, she found it even more incomprehensible.
One prince’s men allied with some of Eastern Continent’s sects, another prince recruited a batch of Monster Tribe and apparently even had connections to the Southern Region. Then there’s a princess who has a good relationship with a Jiao dragon in the East Sea. But she hadn’t fought with the first two princes—instead, after occupying the East Sea and island chains, she did nothing more.
As for herself, she was stopped by two princes who got the news—her current residence is in Clear Water City near the Northern Region. For her, that was actually good news; she remembered the Little Princess reminding her to be careful of the Black Dragon Chancellor. If she dared to go back, she’d probably be played to d*ath by that old stick.
In short, her current strategy was the same as two princes’: delay!
No matter what happens later, just delay for now!
Besides, she had no real strength to do anything anyway. She used to be powerless and unconnected. If not for Grandpa Dragon’s help, she’d probably not even have a usable soldier now.
“Forget it, just keep handling these matters…”
She slumped over the table and picked up a piece of paper to read.
Apparently, during a recruitment, a promising young man skilled in Array formations approached her, asking if she needed to pay more attention.
“Do I really need to tell you about such trivial matters?” she snapped in frustration.
d*mn it, she really wanted to drag Bai Feng over to help. With his scheming personality, he’d definitely know what to do!
…
“Tian Yan sat at the table, eating cake, but her eyes kept flicking over Bai Feng.”
“…What’s wrong? Do I have something on my face?” Bai Feng asked, trying not to laugh as he brushed fox tail fur.
“No, just… I think following you was the right choice. My cultivation hasn’t slowed down at all lately,” Tian Yan shook her head, stuffing a piece of cake into her mouth.
“Really? Feels like you’re saying that just for the cake,” Bai Feng joked casually.
Since Tian Yan moved into Heavenly Sword Sect, she visited his place more often than Yun Yue Yao. Though she claimed she was here to help, she mostly just came for the cake, clearly.
