Chapter 280: Nine-Tailed Fox Will Never Be a Slave—Unless…
Time flies when you’re busy—so busy, in fact, that minutes feel like minutes and hours feel like days.
Right now, Bai Feng, the Transformation God at the Nascent Soul Stage, is supervising Little Jiu’s training with the patience of a saint (or maybe just a very bored monk).
“Not bad, not bad! You’ve already reached the perfect Yuan Ying stage so quickly,” Bai Feng nodded with a rare approving look. “Looks like all those feeding sessions you’ve had haven’t gone to waste.”
Little Jiu’s eyes sparkled with hope. “Can I take a few days off to rest?”
But that hope was short-lived. Bai Feng shook his head and shot her down with the efficiency of a top-tier drill sergeant. “Nope. Next up is actual combat training. You’re a Nine-Tailed Fox—don’t start thinking of yourself as a pet, okay?”
Little Jiu lowered her head and muttered softly, “I think being a pet isn’t so bad…”
Bai Feng tilted his head, snagged her little face with his fingers, and teased her. “Aren’t you proud to be a Nine-Tailed Fox? Back in the Secret Realm, you weren’t this lazy.”
“Eh, well, at the time, I didn’t realize pets get pampered so much,” she said, subtly avoiding eye contact.
Every day now, she gets delicious feed, occasionally sips on sparkling juice, and even someone (probably Bai Feng) brushes her fur. Honestly, it’s way better than hunting for her own food.
…Yup, she’s officially spoiled.
Bai Feng stared silently for a few seconds, then shook his head. “If you really want to be a pet, go join Little Snow. Whoever is more obedient and adorable gets more feed.”
“Those shameless cats? No way!” Little Jiu suddenly straightened up like she’d been electrocuted. “I am a Nine-Tailed Fox, not some filthy cat that behaves so… shamefully!”
As Bai Feng watched her flare up, Little Jiu suddenly shrank back, tangled in her own thoughts.
Just the thought of Little Snow flipping over to let Bai Feng pet her belly, practically begging to be cuddled, made her shiver.
There’s no way she’d do such a shameful act—she’s a proud Nine-Tailed Fox!
In the end, her noble identity and pride trumped her desire to be a pet. Little Jiu threw her head back and demanded, “It’s just combat training! Don’t make it seem scary. When are we starting?”
“Today,” Bai Feng announced with a trace of a sly smile. “Let’s go to the Simulation Secret Realm.”
That faint smirk flickered on his face—this innocent little fox was still easy to manipulate!
—
Meanwhile, a woman blindfolded with a black cloth was darting through a narrow space, her movements swift and unpredictable. Before her was a sword-wielding puppet relentlessly chasing after her.
But, somehow, the puppet’s moves—like it had been played like a puppet show—never quite hit her. No matter how it attacked, she managed to dodge perfectly.
Suddenly, in the brief gap between attacks, the blindfolded woman drew her long sword and swung, severing the puppet’s head clean off.
“Finished,” she declared flatly, lowering her sword without a glance at the puppet that had fallen. She strode straight toward the open door.
Meanwhile, on the Speed Challenge Chart—known as the Ruthless Hero’s Race—‘Chu Chu’ had just risen to the ninth position.
“d*mn, that name again! How many times has she popped up? Always in the top ten. Who the hell is she?” someone muttered.
“Sounds like Senior Sister Bai’s older sister. I heard she had a little accident before, but now she’s back to training.”
“No wonder. So it’s Senior Sister Bai’s sister… Seems she’s just broken into the Golden Core stage recently—her strength is terrifying!”
At that moment, a shadow stepped out of the Simulation Secret Realm, causing the lively environment to suddenly quiet down.
The blindfolded woman, walking steadily, didn’t seem hindered by her cloth—almost like she could see perfectly. Some weaker disciples hurriedly bowed their heads as she approached—not out of shyness, but because of the faint killing intent she radiated, coupled with her icy expression, making her appear downright intimidating.
She wasn’t doing it on purpose. Honestly, she was often frustrated by this herself; she couldn’t understand why, as her cultivation advanced, her killing aura only grew stronger.
A young disciple beside her tugged at his senior brother’s sleeve and whispered, “Who is that? She looks so much like Senior Sister Bai, and she’s kind of terrifying!”
“That’s Chu Chu—the one on the leaderboard, and Bai Sister’s older sister.” The senior whispered.
Just then, Bai Feng and Little Jiu approached, and upon seeing Chu Chu, Bai Feng greeted her with a wave. “Chu Chu! You’re here too? Finished your training?”
“Mm-hmm, just came out,” she nodded quickly. Though she tried to suppress the murderous aura emanating from her, she couldn’t completely hide it like before.
Bai Feng eyed her carefully, noting the unmistakable killing intent around her. He guessed it had something to do with her eyes.
“Want me to add some time?” Bai Feng asked with a smile. “I’m about to train this lazy fox. If you’re free, you can come along.”
“Sure!”
Without hesitation, Chu Chu nodded again and followed Bai Feng toward the Simulation Secret Realm.
Once they entered, the surrounding noise gradually returned.
“Senior Sister Bai’s sister doesn’t seem so scary after all!”
“Senior Brother Bai is Bai Sister’s brother. Maybe Chu Sister will call him ‘brother’ too. I also heard Bai Brother put in a lot of effort so Chu Sister could continue practicing!”
“Got it. As expected of Bai Brother. Next time I challenge the Simulation Secret Realm, I’ll curse him less—a real Bai Old Thief!”
—
Inside the Nascent Soul Zone of the Simulation Secret Realm.
Little Jiu was battling elite puppets with all her might, vanishing and striking in a flurry. Bai Feng watched for a bit before withdrawing his gaze.
“By the way, how are your eyes?” Bai Feng asked casually.
“Still feel strange during practice. Maybe if I keep at it, they’ll heal,” Chu Chu said with a bright smile, sounding quite optimistic.
“I’ve recently been reading some books on medical techniques and found ways to treat eye issues,” Bai Feng turned to her softly. “Want to try?”
Chu Chu paused for a second, then her face lit up with a radiant smile. “Yes!”
“Trust me so much?”
Her straightforward reply surprised him. He’d already prepared excuses to persuade her, but in the end, he didn’t need to.
Chu Chu nodded sincerely. “Well, after all, my current life is thanks to you. Plus, you’ve shown me that cultivation technique before. It’s worth a shot. What if I really get better?”
And… I really want to see you with my own eyes, she thought silently.
