Villain Too Many Children of Destiny, I Choose to Lie Flat – Chapter 289

Chapter 289: What Kind of Ghostly Emotions Did Chu Chu Drop on Me?

The Celestial Immortal Secret Realms suddenly popping up in the Northern Region and Eastern Continent were like flashing neon signs — “Hey, something big is happening!” Soon enough, more and more small secret realms started to appear faster than you can say “pop quiz.”

This sparked a frenzy among the sects, all scrambling for resources inside these realms. Independent cultivators also went all out, throwing punches and curses left and right in hopes of snagging some fortune. And with lots of Child of Destiny types running around causing chaos, the world was less like a peaceful garden and more like a playground during recess — wild, noisy, and way too crowded.

But guess what? None of this shook the Heavenly Sword Sect — or, more accurately, their not-so-lively disciples who’ve promised not to cause trouble. The least they could do for world peace was to keep out of trouble… mostly.

As for Bai Feng? Still doing his usual thing — mostly observing from the sidelines. Every day, he’d relax and take a mental note of what the other sects and cities were up to, like a busybody with a really good sense of boundaries.

“So, I’m about to take it off now,” Bai Feng announced softly, standing in front of Chu Chu.

She looked up at him, her eyes hidden behind a black eye patch, giving him that innocent, “Go ahead, hero.”

Bai Feng slowly reached out, gently removing the eye patch. Beneath it wasn’t a hollow eye socket anymore, but a perfectly good, functioning eye. Ta-da!

“Looks like the recovery’s pretty good,” he said, scrutinizing her. Then he pointed a finger at her faint pink eyes and dangled it in front of her face. “Can you see this?”

“Mm, I can see,” Chu Chu nodded eagerly, her face lighting up like she just gained super sight after decades of blindness.

“Great.” Bai Feng let out a little breath of relief. Healing Chu Chu’s eyes turned out to be more complicated than he thought. He spent nearly every day applying ointments, channeling spirit power, and stimulating her meridians around the eyes. Lucky for her — and for him — his efforts paid off, and the eyes were finally saved.

He took out a small round mirror and held it in front of her. “Take a look at your eyes. How do you feel?”

She reached out, receiving the mirror, and looked into the reflection. Her once dull, red eyes now sparkled with a curious stare — except… doesn’t this look kinda strange? She squinted, confused. Her old eyes weren’t this shade of red, were they?

“What’s wrong?” Bai Feng noticed her expression and asked gently. “Something not quite right?”

“My old eyes weren’t red,” Chu Chu whispered softly. She didn’t dislike her current eyes, but it left her puzzled.

“Probably because of the Celestial Eye’s influence or residual feelings. Before, your negative emotions might’ve been absorbed by its leftover power,” Bai Feng mumbled, scratching his chin thoughtfully.

“Probably,” Chu Chu mumbled back, instinctively touching the corner of her eyes. Glancing at her perfect, restored eyes, she felt a mix of excitement and surrealism — like she was dreaming.

Then she looked up at Bai Feng, fully aware that her eye recovery was thanks to him. How could she repay him? Hmm…

Just then, Bai Feng suddenly reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Bai, Bai Feng? What’s going on?”

Her face reddened as she watched him approach slowly. Was Bai Feng about to do something… strange? Could it be? Her heart fluttered with suspicion, eyes flickering shyly, but her body didn’t resist.

“Wait a sec!” Bai Feng suddenly snapped out of it. They were oh-so-close now — just a few inches apart, practically face-to-face. His hand quickly pulled back, and he rubbed his forehead, confusion written all over his face. “What just happened?”

He remembered clearly — he didn’t lose his mind. He knew exactly what he was doing moments ago. But strangely, a powerful emotion welled up from his subconscious, overriding his reason. It was as if an invisible force was pushing him to act on impulse.

If his divine consciousness weren’t so strong, and considering the power wasn’t that intense, he might not have snapped out of it so easily. Who knows what would’ve happened otherwise?

“This Celestial Eye’s power… it’s terrifying,” Bai Feng thought, glaring into Chu Chu’s eyes once more. That sudden surge of emotion was intense — anger, sadness, greed, despair… all swirling into a dangerous storm.

He focused, forcing himself to stay calm. He asked out loud, “Can you just influence one emotion at a time? Like, only anger or sadness, not all of it together?”

“L-let me try,” Chu Chu nodded, closing her eyes to concentrate. When she opened them again, her eyes had changed from pale pink to a softer shade of pink, a hint of innocence in her gaze.

But at that moment, a wild urge suddenly struck Bai Feng. He wanted nothing more than to pull her into his arms and kiss that soft little mouth of hers. Whispering a quick “Nope,” he shut his eyes tight, mentally cussing himself out. ‘What the hell just happened?’

He clenched his fists, trying to suppress the confusing rush of feelings. His divine consciousness was powerful, but the Celestial Eye’s force was no joke. If he’d been less prepared, things could’ve gone really out of control.

‘Sure, I was affected because I dropped my guard, but my spiritual awareness is far superior to most. This power of the Celestial Eye… it’s way too scary.’

He stared into Chu Chu’s new, faint pink eyes, a dangerous impulse brewing underneath. But he was prepared this time — he kept his cool and didn’t let the emotion take over.

“Chu Chu?” he said softly, trying to mask the chaos inside. “Is something wrong? Did something happen?”

“Yeah,” Bai Feng admitted, “the Celestial Eye’s power might be even scarier than I thought. Sorry — I think I got overwhelmed by a strong emotion and lost control for a moment.”

“It’s okay,” Chu Chu quickly shook her head, though confusion clouded her eyes. “But I didn’t use the Celestial Eye just now. Why would it affect you?”

“Could be lots of reasons,” Bai Feng mused, rubbing his chin. “Either your control isn’t perfect yet, or just seeing your Celestial Eye makes that force come alive. Best to cover your eyes when out in public — better safe than sorry.”

Chu Chu chuckled helplessly, “Looks like even with my eyes fixed, I still need to keep wearing this blindfold.”

But inside, she didn’t feel upset. As long as her eyes healed, and she could see Bai Feng, everything was good. Plus, the blindfold cleverly kept others guessing she might still be ‘blind,’ adding a little mystery.

“I’ll make you a new one,” Bai Feng offered, grabbing paper and drawing quickly. “Or maybe some glasses — they’d work too.”

Chu Chu looked at the sketch, then shook her head. “No need, I prefer the eye patch. I’ve worn it for so long, I’m used to it.”

“Alright. I’ll find time these next few days to craft a new one for you,” Bai Feng promised. Honestly, he liked Chu Chu’s look with the eye patch, especially when she was practicing swordsmanship — so cool. Though, weirdly, whenever she stood before him with that icy expression, she seemed… softer somehow.

“Now,” Bai Feng said seriously, “let’s test your Celestial Eye’s actual ability. Use it voluntarily, and tell me what you can do.”

“Okay,” Chu Chu nodded. She gathered her divine consciousness into her Celestial Eye, and instantly her pale pink eyes turned bl**d-red. A thick murderous aura radiated from her, and her whole body seemed ready to k*ll.

Bai Feng suddenly felt an influx of dark emotions: anger, sadness, greed, despair — a whirlwind of it all.

He looked at her and asked with concern, “Can you just influence one emotion at a time on others? Not all at once?”

“Let me try,” Chu Chu said softly, closing her eyes and channeling her power. When she opened them again, her eyes turned to a gentle pink.

And in that instant, Bai Feng felt an uncontrollable urge — to hug her tight and give her a passionate kiss.

He hurriedly shut his eyes, internally curse-forming: ‘What the hell is Chu Chu giving me? Ghostly emotions or what?’

Bai Feng transmigrated—and he has a younger sister born with Immortal Bones. He initially thought that as long as he clung tightly to his sister’s thigh, he could live a carefree life in this perilous world of cultivation. Until he woke up one day to discover that his mother was preparing to extract his sister’s Immortal Bones and implant them into him. Only then did he realize he was holding the villain script! Right at that moment, the System appeared. As long as he targeted any Child of Destiny and seized the Child of Destiny’s providence value, he could receive generous rewards. At the same time, however, if he plundered too much providence, it would draw the Child of Destiny’s wariness—or even outright hostility. Looking at the three Children of Destiny in this single city, Bai Feng decided—forget it! Whoever wants to be the villain can go ahead; there are already three Children of Destiny in this one city alone. He didn’t even dare imagine how many Children of Destiny might exist across the entire world. So, when the sects were recruiting disciples, he avoided that sect full of Children of Destiny. He also steered clear of those professions they frequented. Every day, he would just draw some ecchi arts, listen to music, and do whatever he felt like. Many years later, Tianji Tower had the opportunity to interview some Children of Destiny who were close to Bai Feng, asking them for their thoughts on him: Child of Destiny A: “No one understands Bai Feng better than I do. He’s nothing like the rumours that claim he coveted the Immortal Bones out of selfishness. On the contrary, he has no interest in Immortal Bones and has secretly been protecting his sister all this time.” Child of Destiny B: “Many people call me a Child of Destiny, someone fated by the heavens. But in my opinion, Brother Bai is the true favored son of heaven. He’s warmhearted and upright, walking the path of immortality with an ordinary body.” Meanwhile, Bai Feng, who was watching this interview, slowly tapped out a ‘?’ They’re slandering me! And you bunch of Children of Destiny—stay away from me!
