Chapter 298: No Rain Today, Instead It’s Falling Food?
“So, what does the unenhanced simulation look like?” Bai Feng tiptoed cautiously forward, poking Yun Yue Yao’s shoulder as he asked.
Yun Yue Yao casually threw her arms around his neck, inspecting the surroundings while explaining, “Most of the scenes are blurry, then a few fragments flash by.”
“Hmmm…”
Bai Feng nodded, feeling pretty sure now that the system had indeed absorbed a bit of Fairy Tian Yan’s divine power.
Then he turned to Yun Yue Yao. “So… can I finally let go now?”
“Uh, well…” Yun Yue Yao slightly averted her gaze. “Actually, I think we’d get a better effect if we stay hugging. What if we separate and the scenery turns blurry? After all, you did enhance the deduction effect.”
“…That’s a fair point, but I think we can give it a shot,” Bai Feng decided, ignoring her protests and gently lowering her. “Seems like nothing’s wrong, so let’s keep exploring.”
Yun Yue Yao wasn’t angry; she quickly grabbed Bai Feng’s hand, interlacing her fingers tightly. “Let’s go check out that direction next.”
……
“The time here feels frozen,” Bai Feng looked up, noticing a gigantic bird flying overhead—well, it was flying, but seemed nailed in the air like a decoration.
“Huh, but being able to deduce this much is already terrifying,” Yun Yue Yao observed the scenery, then seemed to notice something. She tugged Bai Feng’s arm and headed to the right ahead. “Let’s see what’s over there.”
As they moved forward, the scenery finally transformed. The ground was stained with bl**d, and the buildings on both sides bore damage.
“It looks like a battle’s happening here,” Bai Feng said, eyeing the bl**d. He could sense a faint demon energy in it. “And there are folks from the Demon Path here.”
“Look over there.”
Suddenly, Yun Yue Yao pointed ahead. In the distance, there was a woman wielding a sword with just one hand.
She had a pair of dragon horns on her head, a formation disk at her feet, and was surrounded by piles of black-clad corpses.
Her eyes were fixed forward, her expression serious—like something important was ahead.
“Huh? Shui Miao Miao?” Bai Feng instantly recognized her. But he didn’t understand why Shui Miao Miao was here—was this a battlefield of some kind?
“There’s still something up ahead,” Yun Yue Yao pulled Bai Feng around her and kept walking.
Along the way, they saw many soldiers fighting—if you looked closely, you’d notice one side’s soldiers had bloodshot eyes, their muscles slightly bulging, clearly something was off.
After passing the soldiers, a tall figure appeared before them. Her horns were even larger, and she wore a red robe with golden trim, a thick dragon tail protruding from beneath. Her face was cold, her right hand raised, as if bl**d made into thorns was constantly growing upward, with bodies hanging on these bl**d-red thorns.
“Huh?”
Bai Feng’s attention sharpened. He felt this woman resembled Little Princess a lot—could she be Little Princess herself? But somehow, she looked so much older.
Unfortunately, their future deduction only showed this picture. He wasn’t sure why Shui Miao Miao and Shui Xi Yu were there—only that it was some battlefield, and an important fight was happening.
“Let’s go forward,” Bai Feng pressed on without hesitation; there wasn’t enough info yet. He couldn’t guess what was happening here.
After detouring around the grown-up Shui Xi Yu, the scene ahead was again empty. Bai Feng started doubting if he’d taken a wrong turn.
But soon, his doubts vanished. A figure cloaked entirely in black stood at the edge of a bl**d-colored formation—at its center was a… thing.
Crack…!
Before Bai Feng could get a proper look at what was in the middle, the surroundings shattered like broken glass.
In blurry glimpses, he saw part of the object in the middle—a hand?
No, based on size and length, it looked more like an entire arm.
What a pity—he couldn’t verify it now, as the scene had become a complete mess, plunging him into a darkness so deep he couldn’t see his hand in front of his face.
He hurriedly pulled Yun Yue Yao into his arms. Luckily, the darkness didn’t last long, and soon he was back in his chamber.
“What was that thing?” Bai Feng frowned. That arm couldn’t have been cut from an immortal’s corpse, right?
“Uh, cough cough!”
Yun Yue Yao, leaning against him, suddenly coughed several times. He quickly released her and examined her carefully.
Her little face looked a bit pale, and she forced a faint smile. “Looks like we saw something terrible and got backlash….”
“Don’t speak now. I’ll take you to the bedroom to rest,” Bai Feng said, lifting her. His mind already had some guesses—based on how Yun Yue Yao was affected, that arm was definitely taken from an immortal corpse, probably related to the Divine Monarch.
But he still lacked enough info. He wasn’t sure when that battle had happened, or what the Divine Monarch planned to do with the immortal’s arm.

While pondering, Bai Feng returned to his bedroom and gently laid Yun Yue Yao on the bed.
“Feeling better?”
“I’m okay now; the backlash wasn’t that serious. I just need a moment,” Yun Yue Yao said, clutching Bai Feng’s clothes. “If you’re willing to chat a bit, I might recover faster.”
“…You don’t look too badly hurt,” Bai Feng said with a helpless smile, sitting by her bedside.
Meanwhile, in Eastern Continent.
A black arm resting on a stone platform suddenly trembled.
Then, as if alive, it emitted fluctuations of spiritual power, seemingly connecting with a secret realm. In the next second, the arm disappeared.
Soon after, a man wrapped entirely in black—his face hidden—entered. He looked at the empty stone platform, frowning.
“Am I too late?”
He raised his hand and shattered the platform, but the arm was nowhere to be seen.
He then pulled out a cracked compass given by the Divine Monarch—rumored to point toward the immortal’s corpse. Yet, over the years, it had remained silent. Only recently did it show signs of reaction. He hadn’t expected to be a step late. Could others also have such a compass?
He didn’t dwell on it; seeing the cracks increase, he hurriedly stored the compass and left the secret realm. He had to find the immortal’s corpse before the compass shattered.
On the other side, a tiger sunbathing in an open clearing got smacked on the head by a floating arm dropping from the sky.
It jumped up fiercely, opening its bloodthirsty maw to bite the attacker—but then it saw the arm and roared yet froze mid-yell. It looked up at the cloudless sky, face blank as a sheet—today’s weather forecast: no rain, just falling food?
