Chapter 30: Don’t You Think You Look Like a Dog?
Bai Feng glanced at his chopsticks, then eyed Bai Yu Mo, who was blushing and happily chewing on roasted meat. For a moment, even his brain hit a mental freeze.
Did the action of him just extending the chopsticks cause the misunderstanding?
“Little Sister, if you want to eat roasted meat, just tell me. Don’t be so… impatient.”
Bai Feng secretly retracted his chopsticks and looked at their tip, unsure whether he should continue using this pair.
If he didn’t, it might seem like he was a total j*rk treating Bai Yu Mo like she was disgusting. The system might then sprinkle Luck Points all over him for causing her inner hurt—no thanks!
But if he kept using them, he’d feel weird and awkward in his heart.
“Hmm, Brother, you’re right,” Bai Yu Mo straightened her posture, acting all obedient and like she’s being properly groomed.
“Forget it, let’s keep roasting meat.”
Bai Feng didn’t put down his chopsticks and continued to chop more meat, feeding Bai Yu Mo with it.
Since exchanging the chopsticks wasn’t an option, might as well wash away the guilt with some oily meat juice!
Thanks to Yao Yao’s participation, Bai Feng was having a genuinely good time at this gathering.
Honestly, eating alone is fine, but fighting over bites with someone else is just more delicious—don’t you think?
Even Bai Yu Mo got caught up and ate a couple more pieces of roasted meat.
But there was this nagging feeling in his heart—the way her eyes looked was just a tiny bit… off.
When Bai Feng focused more, Bai Yu Mo returned to her usual adorable self.
He really hoped it was just his imagination. Please don’t let her cause trouble again; he’s already at his limit with the system trying to push Luck Points down his throat.
“This was so satisfying! Thanks for the treat, little junior brother,” Yao Yao patted her belly. “I need to go hustle now, but next time, I’ll invite you guys to another round of roasted meat.”
After saying that, she hurried off. The gathering was almost over, and she had to pack up quickly, or else the elders would come to see a messy mountain and give him trouble.
Bai Feng also felt a bit stuffed. He got up with a stretch: “Let’s go back and rest.”
“Yeah.”
“Sigh, all that roasted meat scent—need a bath and laundry now.”
Hearing Bai Feng mumbling, Bai Yu Mo’s eyes seemed to sparkle. “Then how about I help you wash your clothes, Brother?”
Bai Feng waved his hand: “No need. I’m not some spoiled brat who only eats and doesn’t do anything. I can handle laundry myself.”
“It’s okay, really! Instead of wasting time on laundry, you should focus more on cultivation—to reach the Golden Core Stage sooner!”
“Washing clothes doesn’t take much time anyway, right?”
But Bai Yu Mo was persistent: “It’s no trouble at all! Leave it to me—I guarantee it’ll be as good as new.”
“Forget it, we’ll see later. You should go back and rest quickly.”
Bai Feng couldn’t shake the feeling that Bai Yu Mo was a bit too eager. Now his meals had been taken over by her, and if she also decided to handle laundry, she might as well evolve into his mother.
A few minutes later…
Bai Feng stepped out of the steamy bath, only to find that his clothes, which he had left outside, had vanished. All that remained was a note.
He looked at it with a deadpan expression:
[Brother, I took your clothes to wash them. Keep practicing hard!]
Bai Feng: “…… ”
Did he ultimately fail to stop his little sis from evolving into a mommy figure?
……
Purple Cloud Peak.
A sharp voice echoed from inside the house:
“Senior Brother, haven’t you thanked Senior Sister Bai yet?” A girl, looking only sixteen or seventeen, with a frost-covered face, said coldly. “If Little Junior Brother hadn’t asked me to deliver this necklace as a thank-you gift, I wouldn’t even know there was such a thing. Isn’t that embarrassing for Purple Cloud Peak?”
Luo Chen, the Great Senior Brother of Purple Cloud Peak, kept his head bowed in silence in front of the girl. After she finished speaking, he mumbled:
“I already thanked her—but Senior Sister Bai declined.”
He explained, and the girl seemed even angrier. Her tone rose again: “Then can’t you just deliver it a few more times? Even if Senior Sister Bai doesn’t need this stuff, her untalented brother probably does, right? Why can’t you give it to him? Can’t you think this through?”
At that moment, Lin Yu, standing nearby, looked apologetic as he defended Luo Chen: “Senior Sister, don’t blame the Senior Brother. The truth is, I mistakenly lost the pills…”
“Enough, Junior Brother, no need to explain for him,” the girl’s expression softened, and she turned to comfort Lin Yu. Then she continued without looking back: “Senior Brother, you should go to Qing Zhu Peak and make up for your thanks. You’re not as thoughtful as Little Junior Brother.”
“Yes, yes! Don’t be mad, Senior Sister. I’ll go now.”
Several minutes later…
Bai Feng watched as Luo Chen, expressionless, stood in front of his door.
What bad luck—seeing a Child of Destiny right outside his house early in the morning.
“Luo Senior Brother, what brings you here today?”
Knowing how much the Luck Boy was obsessed with luck, Bai Feng suspected this wasn’t just a friendly visit. Probably trouble or some scheme.
“Actually, about last time—White Sister helped me so much, and I only expressed my thanks verbally. That’s really not enough,” Luo Chen said with a poor smile. “This time, it’s thanks to Senior Sister’s reminder, or I would have been rude.”
Bai Feng frowned. He thought, shouldn’t he thank Bai Yu Mo? Why come all the way to his door with gifts?
Seeing Bai Feng’s puzzled expression, Luo Chen hurriedly clarified: “White Sister isn’t home right now, and since knocking on her door and disturbing her is… kind of inappropriate, I was hoping you could help receive this gift.”
He then glanced inside.
Sure enough, Bai Yu Mo wasn’t home. She had already run over in the morning to make breakfast before he woke up.
“No need. Yesterday, Senior Brother already gave me the secret recipe for roasting meat—that’s plenty.”
This felt kind of fishy. If there was a proper thank you to be made, it should have been during yesterday’s gathering. Especially since they had made contact, and he’d given him the meat-roasting secret recipe. Coming early today seemed suspicious.
He suspected some other party was pulling strings. Maybe the Pearl Boy of Purple Cloud Peak hadn’t given up on planting tea on Qing Zhu Peak?
So, better to reject.
“No way. Such a simple thing isn’t worth a thank-you,” Luo Chen shook his head and took out the necklace he had prepared, handing it over. “Please accept this.”
Bai Feng stared at the necklace for a few seconds. It was silver-white, shaped like a flower he’d never seen before. There was a faint spiritual energy fluctuation on it, indicating it was a Spirit Tool.
Clearly, the giver put effort into choosing it.
And it probably wasn’t Luo Chen herself—just an honest kid who grew up in the sect. He wasn’t the type to flatter women, or else he wouldn’t have ended up like this.
While he pondered, Luo Chen’s next reply confirmed his thoughts: “This necklace was prepared by my Junior Brother. As the Senior Brother, I feel ashamed to give such a precious gift.”
Yep…
If he didn’t know the folks of Purple Cloud Peak were mostly scoundrels, just listening to Luo Chen’s description, he might believe they were all nice people.
“Helping deliver a gift and giving something this expensive—it’s a bit too much, isn’t it? If we’re talking effort, Senior Sister Yao Yao did most of it, right?”
Luo Chen shook his head: “Later, I’ll thank Senior Sister Yao Yao again.”
……
Bai Feng was silent for a few seconds. He didn’t take the necklace but looked up at Luo Chen and asked: “What if I don’t want to accept?”
Faced with Bai Feng’s straightforward question, Luo Chen chuckled bitterly: “Please, Junior Brother, just accept it. It’s a little token from me, the Senior Brother, and our Junior Brother.”
“If I refuse, how do you explain to the sect?”
Luo Chen didn’t reply; he just smiled bitterly.
Seeing Luo Chen’s awkward and humble expression, Bai Feng didn’t feel pity, only a bit disgusted.
He held back his nausea and refused several more times, but Luo Chen refused to give up.
Finally, Bai Feng threw in the towel.
If you’re going to disgust me, I might as well disgust you back.
So, Bai Feng maintained a serious face—no mockery, no sarcasm—dead serious: “I mean no disrespect, but don’t you think you look like a dog?”
