Chapter 309: Finally Getting to Meet the Teacher Again
“Cough! Spit!” A burly man spat out a mouthful of bl**d, leaning on a big tree with one hand, eyes nervously scanning the surroundings. “We should have shaken off those guys by now, right?”
“Probably, but we can’t let our guard down. That guy’s methods are seriously weird,” said the man with the Broken Spear, catching his breath while dangling a dazed old tiger in his hand. “To be safe, let’s get out of here pronto.”
He shot a quick glance at the tiger, feeling surprisingly accomplished — this haul was pretty big.
These two are demon tribes from the Southern Region, cooperating with a certain prince. They came here because they heard rumors of some treasure being born nearby. However, the prince got blocked by the Black Dragon Chancellor. No big deal—they’re not afraid of the Black Dragon, so they snuck away from the prince’s side.
The burly guy is actually a Earth Dragon—some call him a giant earthworm—using his ability, they tunneled straight from underground into the woods, where they spotted a swift-moving tiger.
This tiger was just at the Foundation Establishment Stage, but freakishly fast. Seeing that, they decided to try recruiting this talented little furball.
But before they could even reveal themselves, a bunch of black-clad figures suddenly appeared behind the tiger. These dark figures emitted faint demonic energy, making the two underground spies suspicious—they wondered, “Since when does magic cultivation exist here? Is the Black Dragon Chancellor mixed up with the demonic arts?”
While pondering this, a giant net descended from above, ensnaring the fleeing tiger. Shocked, the two had no choice but to intervene, trying to stop the magical hunters. Little did they expect, hiding in the shadows was an even more terrifying black-clothed expert—who struck in one move, seriously damaging them. With their lives on the line, they managed to retreat underground with the tiger, taking cover for now.
Fortunately, during their hideout, another group clashed with those black-clad enemies. Seizing the opportunity, the two streaked away, running all the way here.
“Hey Yi, where do we go now?” The burly man coughed up another mouthful of bl**d, looking pretty hurt.
“This demonic group has ties with the Black Dragon, no doubt. They’ll probably station troops on the route to the Southern Region,” said He Yi, thinking for a moment before making a decision. “We need to head to the Northern Region before they figure things out. Su and the foxes from Qing Qiu should be there. We can ask for their help.”
“Then to the North it is,” the burly man nodded. He also cast a glance at the unconscious tiger. “I really wanna know what this guy did to get so many people hunting him.”
“Maybe it’s just like the rumors say—something related to Immortals!” He Yi chuckled. “Di Yuan, let’s go. After we deliver him to the Northern Region, we’ll see what’s up.”
After the duo left, a shadowy device silently appeared beneath a tree, recording every scene in detail.
…
“Could that tiger in those two demon tribes really be what the Divine Monarch is after?”
Shui Xi Yu looked at the recorded images, whispering softly.
Ever since she used her shadow recorder to catch the evidence of the Black Dragon Chancellor working with the Divine Monarch, she had set up more to keep watch. Surprisingly, these devices worked even better than she imagined—neither the Chancellor nor his men detected them, thanks to stealth formations embedded in the area. They were completely unaware that their movements had been exposed.
Not only that, but even the two demon tribes hadn’t noticed—they had no idea their whereabouts were already leaked.
After listening to their conversation, Shui Xi Yu pondered for a few seconds before sending this information to Bai Feng.
Meanwhile, Bai Feng took the shadow recorder and looked at it, his face uncertain.
What tiger? Why would the Divine Monarch want to catch a tiger?
Could it be that the tiger beat the Divine Monarch to it, and ate the immortal’s arm?
He rubbed his chin, utterly confused. How could an immortal’s arm end up inside a tiger’s mouth? Immortal corpses are supposed to be kept hidden in secret realms, or buried in some mountain pit. Otherwise, how could a tiger possibly snatch an immortal’s arm from under the Divine Monarch’s nose?
What he was sure of, though, was that he had meddled with the natural flow of things. The tiger that ate the immortal’s arm didn’t fall into the Divine Monarch’s hands but was rescued by the two demon tribes. This time, the Divine Monarch missed his chance.
Bai Feng pulled out his shadow recorder, intending to ask Tian Yan. Given the Divine Monarch’s behavior, the story of the tiger swallowing the immortal’s arm probably wasn’t far from the truth—though he couldn’t be completely certain.
Soon, Tian Yan sent a message.
Tian Yan: A tiger? The Divine Monarch’s people are indeed after a tiger, definitely not a trick.
Tian Yan: I just did some calculations, but I can’t figure out why—seems like that tiger is the Divine Monarch’s target.
Tian Yan: Are you heading to East Continent? If so, add me.
Bai Feng looked at Tian Yan’s message and thought for a few seconds. He didn’t know what use the immortal’s arm had, but after the incident with the Black Lotus residual soul, he figured the arm wasn’t something good—better to destroy it quickly.
He was planning to go to the East Continent anyway, even if it meant encountering a new Child of Destiny.
Especially since Xiao Jiu had been worried about being captured by the Southern Region demon tribes lately, so he might as well bring her along to hide for a while.
He grabbed his shadow recorder and texted Shui Xi Yu:
“I got it. This is complicated, you keep watching those two demon tribes. I’ll handle it when I arrive in East Continent.”
Seated at her desk, waiting for Bai Feng’s reply, Shui Xi Yu’s eyes suddenly snapped to her device when it beeped.
“Teacher’s coming to East Continent?”
She blinked, both excited and a little scared.
They had already talked about her identity and apologized earlier, but that was through the shadow recorder, and they were far apart. Now, meeting the teacher in person inexplicably made her nervous.
It’s okay—worst case, she’d just get a scolding.
She took a deep breath, calming herself.
Then she looked once more at Bai Feng’s reply, a faint smile curling her lips. Finally, she would see her teacher again. She had so many questions to ask! How long would he stay in East Continent? She hoped it would be a long visit.
