Chapter 318: “I’m Just a Tiger.”
“Darling, I’ve come to visit you!” Yun Yue Yao reached out and hugged Bai Feng, then suspiciously looked around the empty kitchen. “Where’s Yu Mo? Isn’t she usually whipping up breakfast at this hour?”
“She… is still sleeping,” Bai Feng yawned. “Probably a little while before she wakes up.”
“Oh.”
Yun Yue Yao nodded at the bedroom door, almost as if she’d already figured out what Bai Yu Mo did last night. Though she didn’t seem too bothered—more like slightly jealous, maybe? Hmm… decision made: tonight, she’d be staying at Bai Feng’s place. Why not? Could use a little extra *something*.
“Since she’s still snoozing, I’ll go ahead and make breakfast today.” Yun Yue Yao released Bai Feng and strolled toward the kitchen. She casually tied her hair into a simple ponytail, then looked back at him. “Anything you’d like to eat?”
Bai Feng studied her for a few seconds. “Can you cook?”
“I’ve looked at a few recipes,” Yun Yue Yao said, grabbing an apron but not immediately putting it on. She looked up at him. “I remember one way of wearing an apron doesn’t even need clothes, right?”
“…That’ll just make things easier to burn,” Bai Feng shot her a glance, then quickened over to her side. “Let’s make some noodles. If you don’t know how, I’ll teach you.”
“Thanks, dear.”
Soon, the two started bustling in the kitchen.
Yun Yue Yao stood on a tiny stool, gently stirring the food in the pot with a spoon, then turned to Bai Feng. “Is this okay?”
Bai Feng nodded. “Good. Just pour the soup out a little, add the noodles, then pour the soup over.”
Watching her move, he thought she didn’t seem like a bad cook—just a bit inexperienced. Still not quite on Bai Yu Mo’s level, but not too shabby for a newbie.
“Cooking’s not so hard,” Yun Yue Yao said, scooping the noodles out of the pot. “If you get hungry later, just come find me. I’ll make something for you.”
“…Are you messing with me, or just really planning to cook noodles for me?” Bai Feng raised an eyebrow.
How does she manage to say such things so casually without blushing?
“Anything works, really. Or we could do both at once—like, I cook noodles, and you… do what exactly behind me?”
“Just focus on making your food,” Bai Feng interrupted, amused.
After some joking around, Bai Feng finally sat down at the dining table to eat his breakfast.
“How does it taste?” Yun Yue Yao asked eagerly.
“Not bad,” Bai Feng nodded. “A bit less fiery than Bai Yu Mo’s, but considering you’re new to this, it’s pretty good already.”
“Then eat more.”
Just as he finished, the bedroom door slowly creaked open. Bai Yu Mo, cheeks slightly reddened, appeared from inside.
“I accidentally overslept… I was about to go…” She froze for a second when she saw the noodles, her expression blank.
Bai Feng waved at her. “Breakfast is ready. Come eat some with us.”
“…Okay.”
Bai Yu Mo sat at the table, gazing at her bowl of noodles. Then she looked at Yun Yue Yao, who wore a soft smile, and clenched her small fists. Her good mood vanished in an instant.
Clearly, it was Yun Yue Yao who made breakfast—this was her job!
Next time, she absolutely *will not* oversleep, she vowed silently.
—
After breakfast, Bai Feng approached the *Child of Destiny* Tiger, scratching his chin thoughtfully.
“Has this tiger woken up yet?”
Despite giving it pills and its injuries being nearly healed, its body was still weak. It *should* have woken up already!
He activated his divine consciousness magic, overlaying his awareness on the tiger.
Then he entered a dense forest—deep within the tiger’s mind—to see if its consciousness was still intact. If he could get in, it meant the tiger’s mind wasn’t too damaged. Probably just in a really long coma.
Since he was already there, he decided to wander around. Soon, he spotted a narrow cave where a tiger, shivering, curled up in a corner.
Honestly, this was pretty strange—tigers are usually mighty and intimidating. Seeing one so scared was rare.
To avoid frightening it further, Bai Feng also transformed into a tiger’s appearance, approaching slowly.
The tiger, sensing footsteps, first looked terrified, then, upon realizing it was a fellow tiger, it relaxed slightly. But then it kept a wary eye on Bai Feng. “You… shouldn’t be connected to those black-robed humans outside, right?”
Bai Feng felt this tiger was quite clueless. Even if it was, he wasn’t about to admit anything.
He shook his head. “What black-robed humans?”
“The humans in black clothes, and even up in the sky, there’s a flying arm… very scary!” the tiger explained, still alert. “If you’re not involved with the black-robed humans, then why do I find you so annoying? I kind of want to bite you.”
…
So his divine consciousness playing in the tiger’s mind also came with sarcasm? Nice.
“Fine, as long as you’re not involved with those black-robed guys.” The tiger shook its head. Compared to the threat of the black-robed humans, which wanted to k*ll it, this slightly stupid-looking fellow wasn’t so bad.
It then quietly peeked outside, and as Bai Feng said, there were no black-robed figures or flying arms in sight.
It sighed in relief. “Thank goodness, they’ve finally left.”
Meanwhile, Bai Feng’s eyes flashed black and white. The black-robed villains that the tiger imagined appeared, but as soon as they emerged, they were crushed.
“Ridiculous. I’m leaving now,” Bai Feng muttered, cleaning up the scene. He turned to leave, confident that with the black-robed men gone, the tiger would wake up soon.
“Wait,” the tiger suddenly shouted at him. Despite disliking him, it preferred that over the black-robed assassins trying to k*ll it. “Let’s work together. If we bump into those black-robed guys again, we’ll have each other’s backs.”
“Fine with me…” Bai Feng nodded, curious about what this tiger planned next.
He watched as the tiger started hunting—caught a foolish roe deer, split some meat with Bai Feng, then lay under a stone “bathing in the sun.” Supposedly, lying on the stone was to avoid dangerous things falling on its head, but Bai Feng didn’t quite get it.
After resting, the tiger resumed hunting—ate, then sunbathed again. This cycle repeated a few times.
When Bai Feng thought the tiger was nearly recovered enough to leave, it suddenly asked:
“Do you cultivate immortality?”
Bai Feng glanced at it, then shook his head. “I’m just a tiger.”
