Chapter 319: Bro, Are You My Mum or What?
“That’s what I was saying too.” The Tiger nodded solemnly. “But I want to cultivate immortality! I’m tired of being blindly targeted by Black-clothed Men without any rhyme or reason. I don’t want a life full of paranoia and fear. I want to live freely!”
“That’s pretty good! I support that!” Bai Feng nodded in agreement. “Who knows, maybe someday you’ll become the King of Beasts!”
The Tiger fell silent for a few seconds, then looked at Bai Feng with a hint of hope. “I thought you’d laugh at me, but… you’re really quite special. I’ve seen some of my kind before, but they’re all… stupid. I don’t like them. But you’re different, hmm… I think I like you more already. And maybe—I won’t even bite you.”
“Thanks for the compliment.”
The Tiger continued, “Don’t you want to cultivate and become stronger?”
“Of course I do.”
“Well then, let’s cultivate together!” the Tiger suggested boldly.
Bai Feng tilted his head, giving the Tiger a look. Didn’t you just dislike me and even want to bite me earlier? Man, this guy’s quite the master manipulator!
Still, requests for joint cultivation from a Child of Destiny aren’t something you should take lightly.
He shook his head and said, “My talent’s not good enough—I can’t cultivate. But you’re different. You’ve got talent, and you work harder than me. I believe you’ll succeed. When you do, if you still remember me, come back and tell me about the scenery from the mountain top.”
“Is that so…?”
The Tiger’s expression darkened a bit. It had finally found a kindred spirit, only to have them part ways. Boohoo.
But then, it rallied itself and said, “It’s fine! I’ve heard there are pills that can change your fate. I’ll find a way to get one for you.”
“…”
Bai Feng tilted his head. If I remember right, we just met, right? Or is this just a tiger good at bragging?
The Tiger lifted its head, eyes sparkling with hope as if imagining a brighter future. “When I reach the point where no one dares to bully us anymore, I’ll come back with the pills. Then you can cultivate with me, and we’ll have a little tiger family!”
“Hm… hmm?”
Bro, you’re way off.
“Besides, I’ve never had cubs before. I’ve heard from hunters on the mountain that raising kids is pretty hard. I wonder if I can do it.”
“…?”
Wait—bro, are you my mum?
“Goodbye! I’ll definitely succeed. You have to wait for me!”
With that, the Tiger jumped up from the stone and dashed off into the distance, leaving a bewildered Bai Feng standing there.
What the hell? We’ve only known each other for a short while, and I barely got past negative impressions before praising it a bit. Are all demon tribes this straightforward?
Suddenly, the surroundings trembled, and the scenery became hazy. Bai Feng knew—it was almost time for the Tiger to wake up.
‘Oh well, waking up is good enough.’
He sighed, knowing that since they’d been chatting in the consciousness space, the Tiger probably wouldn’t remember this once it woke. Even if it did, it wouldn’t matter—that might just be a dream to it.
So Bai Feng withdrew from the depths of the Tiger’s mind and returned to reality.
The moment he did, the Tiger’s eyes snapped open.
‘Ugh, my head hurts. Wasn’t I just in the forest? Where am I?’
It furrowed its brow and looked around, seeing it was in a courtyard with a Human standing in front of it.
“Roar!!”
In an instant, the Tiger leapt from the ground, baring its sharp teeth at Bai Feng.
“Relax. Don’t shout. I healed all your injuries,” Bai Feng said calmly.
The Tiger didn’t seem bothered; rather, it felt relieved—apparently, it hadn’t linked Bai Feng to the Tiger.
After a few growls, it seemed to notice what Bai Feng said, but it didn’t lower its guard. Instead, it fixed its gaze on him, eyes gleaming with suspicion. Man, I really don’t like you. I kind of want to bite you.
By the way, that kind of disgust seemed familiar—like it hated another Tiger before. No, wait—different. That Tiger was special. It’s not something a wicked Human can compare to!
Now, where did that Tiger go…
The Tiger fell into thought, a strange suspicion creeping in. Could it have just been a dream?
‘Looks like I’ve recovered well. Here’s your medicine for today. Come on, take it.’
Bai Feng didn’t know what the Tiger was thinking. He held out a pill to its mouth, but the Tiger, instantly alert, took a step back.
Not to be outdone, Bai Feng moved forward, pried open the Tiger’s mouth, and shoved the pill inside.
No surrender—though the Tiger was stubborn, it was no match for Bai Feng. It could only watch helplessly as the pill slid into its stomach.
Bai Feng clapped he hands; a bit rough, but all for the Tiger’s own good. He’d been careful—not to hurt it. So, system, you can’t possibly have a reason to dump Luck Points on me, right?
He waited and, sure enough, no system pop-up appeared. He relaxed completely.
“All done. Rest here awhile. Don’t run around. When I finish treating your injuries, I’ll let you go,” Bai Feng said casually.
He didn’t bother to check on the Tiger again—it was wary of him, whether because of the Black-clothed Men chasing it, or because he’d changed his identity and renewed the mockery.
Point is, better not push too hard now, or the Tiger might fight back fiercely, and the system might force Luck Point allocations again.
Soon, Bai Feng left. The Tiger didn’t try to escape; it just lay there, lost in thought.
It still couldn’t believe such realistic scenes and conversations could be just a dream—especially, the fact that it was the first of its kind to acknowledge it.
…
“Haah…” Little Jiu yawned and followed Bai Feng, looking up. “Did you bring it back to keep as a pet?”
“No, I’m just curious if the Immortal’s arm has affected it,” Bai Feng shook his head. If I dared keep it as a pet, the system would definitely dump a ton of Luck Points on me.
“Good.” Little Jiu nodded. Little Snow, who’s small and doesn’t eat much, is fine. But if this Tiger comes back, I don’t know if I’ll still get enough fox food. Looks like that big guy loves to eat.
A moment later, she followed Bai Feng into the house—then jumped onto his lap with practiced ease, tail swaying. “How long are we staying here?”
“Huh? Want to go home?”
Little Jiu waved her paws quickly. “No! If I go back now, what if the Southern Region demons are still here?”
“I think… you don’t need to worry anymore. They probably won’t come back,” Bai Feng said, glancing at the message from Yu Yao on the Image Retainer, offering ‘comfort’.
Little Jiu blinked. “?”
