Chapter 321: This Kid Must Not Be Left Alive
“Your big formation…” Bai Feng looked up at Shui Xi Yu, who was practically bubbling with anticipation. After a few seconds of silence, he continued, “This big formation isn’t so easy to pull off. There are tons of differences from traditional formations. I suggest you lower your expectations first.”
“Mm, thank you, Teacher, for the reminder. Got it.”
Shui Xi Yu nodded, though she knew deep down that accomplishing this was no walk in the park. The big formation she envisioned was a far cry from traditional array setups—lots of tweaks needed, and definitely not something she could master overnight. But hey, that was part of her plan.
She was well aware that once the Black Dragon Chancellor was captured by the people at the Holy Land, the chaos on the Eastern Continent wouldn’t last long. If she didn’t do something while Bai Feng was still around, she’d risk losing touch with him once she took up the mantle of Empress. Their connection would inevitably weaken.
Originally, she planned to keep things steady during her fight against the Black Dragon Chancellor by gradually crafting some of the items her teacher mentioned, hoping to strengthen the bond between them. But now, time was against her. She couldn’t afford to sit back and wait.
Plus, some little gestures from Yun Yue Yao had shifted her mindset slightly. She had decided to take a more aggressive route.
Pulling out paper and brush, Shui Xi Yu looked seriously at Bai Feng. “Teacher, if I want to build this big formation, where do you think I should start?”
“Don’t bother with the big formation for now. Start with a simpler one,” Bai Feng stroked his chin. He could see the seriousness and hope in Shui Xi Yu’s eyes—she was eager to create this big formation.
Honestly, he was eager too. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be chatting about this with the princess, who was still a junior cultivator.
“Hm…” Shui Xi Yu thought for a few seconds, then raised her hand with a proposal. “Teacher, can we make a formation only as big as a single house to start with?”
“Sure, that’s not too difficult,” Bai Feng nodded. In fact, he’d already crafted such smaller formations. For example, the house in Heavenly Sword Sect where he stayed had a water faucet that spewed water with a twist, a cold storage fridge for ingredients, even a stove that could spit flames at will…
Of course, these were just initial versions. His constant stream of ideas made the overall design a bit cluttered.
‘Guess I should revisit and tidy it up later,’ he thought internally.
“Teacher, can we start now?” Shui Xi Yu pressed on. “I’ll probably be busy in a few days, so I want to seize these quieter days to learn more.”
“Of course. Are you planning to modify that house first?”
“No, another one. Please, Teacher, come with me.”
Quick as a flash, Shui Xi Yu stood and headed over to Bai Feng. Her hand hovered in the air for half a second, then took a deep breath, grasped Bai Feng’s wrist, and pulled him towards a pre-prepared house.
This wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment idea. During her time with the teacher, he often shared his wild ideas—one of which was this special big formation she now held in her hands.
She could imagine how transformative such a formation could be for a city. She’d decided early on to build a city around that concept, and now she was just bringing the plan forward.
She also saw that Bai Feng was quite interested. But to make such a big formation, she’d need money and a willing city to cooperate. Few cities would dare try it—most city lords didn’t care much for their citizens’ well-being anyway.
This was her chance. Even if she became the Empress of the Eastern Continent someday, as long as that big formation existed, she could use it to maintain her relationship with Bai Feng. Plus, once the formation was successful, it could revolutionize city life—two birds, one stone.
Soon, under Shui Xi Yu’s lead, Bai Feng arrived at a somewhat secluded house.
“Here it is,” Shui Xi Yu pushed open the door, which was quiet and undisturbed. “It’s quiet here, and no one will bother us.”
Bai Feng nodded, stepping inside. The interior layout was simple—a table and some chairs—but very clean, probably tidied in advance.
After assessing the layout, he turned to Shui Xi Yu. “Tell me your ideas first.”
“I want to start with something simple. Teacher, what do you think about lights?” she asked while closing the door behind her, eyeing the lock to suppress her urge to lock it.
Bai Feng didn’t know what this little princess was planning. Thinking for a few seconds, he said, “Sketch out a blueprint. Let me see what you’ve learned.”
“Alright, Teacher.”
…
Meanwhile, in a dark cave, a few phantom images gathered in front of a stone table.
“Didn’t the Shadow come back?” one asked.
“That guy’s hurt pretty bad. Probably hiding to heal,” another replied.
“Why is he hiding to heal? Couldn’t we ask him to get treatment?” someone else questioned suspiciously.
But no one responded. They all knew better than to poke the bear.
Then, a slightly annoyed voice echoed inside the stone hut: “He screwed up big time, and now he’s hiding? Pathetic.”
“And that’s not all. Someone tried to snatch the Immortal’s arm and ended up costing us two Merger-stage experts. One was slaughtered by the Holy Land guys, the other blew himself up trying to steal the arm. Was that because he got distracted by demon energy during cultivation and turned into an idiot?”
“Bunch of garbage!” the Heavenly Mouse, already full of resentment, slammed the table and stood up. “If Black Lotus hadn’t run away, I’d have succeeded!”
“Are you brain-dead? That kid’s got a Merger-stage warrior guarding him. Do you think you can break through that defense and grab the arm?” Black Lotus sneered. “You even had him self-destruct; so much for a fireworks display, huh?”
“They’re just two useless trash that won’t last. Blow them up, no big deal!” the Heavenly Mouse snorted coldly.
“But even trash shouldn’t be just blown up at will. And you’re blowing up a Merger-stage warrior—do you know how many Merger-stage experts are inside the Divine Monarch? Not many,” another voice said sinisterly. “I propose banning the Heavenly Mouse from commanding the Divine Monarch cultivators from now on.”
“You dare?” the Heavenly Mouse snapped, glaring angrily.
But his fury was useless. The others quickly agreed:
“Agree.”
“Support.”
“He’s gone too far this time. Better to let him cool down for a while.”
“Maybe it’s better to swap him out for someone else—call him Heavenly Mouse once more,” Black Lotus suggested, smiling and resting her chin on her hand.
“You!” The Heavenly Mouse’s face twisted with rage. He never expected Black Lotus to be so bold.
The group glanced at Black Lotus, then shook their heads in disagreement: “Heavenly Mouse’s strength is decent. Let’s not dwell on this.”
“Fine,” the Heavenly Mouse hissed, still fuming but knowing he’d lost this round.
She shook her head as if dismissing it all casually.
One more thing—regarding the Heavenly Sword Sect’s genius disciple who apparently destroyed the Immortal’s arm. That guy must be eliminated, no questions. Black Lotus nodded with a smile, then turned to the Heavenly Mouse: “Next, you’d better listen carefully. Be cautious, don’t run around.”
The Heavenly Mouse said nothing, lowering his head in a storm of thoughts, his expression dark.
