Chapter 331: Bai Feng: I Can’t Do That, Like Giving Birth
The gaze shifted back to Bai Feng.
In his mind, he had already devised a plan to punish that little golden-haired rat who swiped the cake. But… let her have her fun for now. After he sends off these two foxes, he’ll deal with her.
“Um…” You Su Rong Rong took a bite of Tiramisu, then put down her spoon and asked Bai Feng, “Do you know when that Nine-Tailed Fox Lord will finish his training?”
“Dunno. Little Jiu is pretty free-spirited; whenever she feels like she’s made a breakthrough or boredom strikes, she’ll just end her training,” Bai Feng shook his head. “If you have something urgent, just let me know, and I’ll pass the message along.”
“It’s not really that important, to be honest.” You Su Rong Rong hesitated for a moment before deciding to share some info—after all, it’s not really a secret in the Southern Region.
“So…it’s like this. Our Nine-Tailed Fox Clan has seen a decline in talented people these past few years. Plus, with the rise of clans like the bl**d Snake Clan around us, life’s been pretty tough.”
Bai Feng nodded slightly—looks like the conflict between emerging forces and long-standing clans. The decline of the old guard opens up opportunities for new players to expand.
But honestly, this setup sounded so familiar. In such a situation, there’d probably be a human genius with good relations with the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan, right?
He couldn’t help but ask, “Are you guys on pretty good terms with humans? And maybe have some disciples or a genius human friend?”
“You’re as sharp as ever, Bai Feng!” You Su Rong Rong’s eyes flashed with a hint of surprise, then she grinned. “We’ve made quite some efforts. One of them is to foster good relationships with humans. As for our juniors—they do know a human genius—just that he’s still too weak. He can’t really help us much until he grows stronger.”
“Are you talking about that hunter?” Qiao Qiao suddenly chimed in. “But I think, Su Jie, you shouldn’t get your hopes up too high. That guy’s hiding a lot of secrets—it might cause us even more trouble.”
Bai Feng stroked his chin, unsurprised. Wherever there are Nine-Tails Foxes, there’s definitely some lucky kid of destiny.
He could even guess the plot points ahead: either helping the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan solve some trouble and becoming their VIP, or the clan getting attacked and the surviving foxes fleeing to seek shelter with that lucky kid.
Honestly, he was starting to feel tired of this whole “destined child” saga.
“If that’s the case, trying to get Little Jiu to help isn’t gonna be worth it,” he shook his head. “She’s only at Transformation God level. She might be stronger than most nine-tailed foxes, but no way she’s invincible.”
“No, we’re not here to fix our current problems,” You Su Rong Rong hurriedly shook her head. “Our biggest issue isn’t urgent—it’s that our clan’s morale is low because we lack fresh bl**d. As long as… Young Jiu Lord is willing to come back, or at least make friends with us, then our clan won’t be so grim.”
Bai Feng nodded slightly. It basically meant the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan had no confidence about the future—possibly facing elder level decline soon, with no new generation stepping up.
But as long as Little Jiu was willing to return, that could change. With her talent and bloodline, she’d easily shoulder the clan’s high-tier combat strength in the future. Plus, if she was willing to have children, given her dense bloodline, their offspring definitely wouldn’t be junk.
Of course, this was the most optimistic scenario. Their real goal was probably to have her help out in times of danger—hoping Little Jiu would lend a hand because they’re kin. As long as they could stay connected, the clan might still have hope to improve their bloodline.
But all these guesses were based on what You Su Rong Rong said. The real situation needed further investigation. That said, this Nine-Tailed Fox looked pretty honest—maybe not the stereotypical fox schemer, but who knew if she was just pretending?
Bai Feng shook off his thoughts, gazing at the slightly tense You Su Rong Rong and said, “I’ll talk to Little Jiu. But I don’t think she’ll be coming back with you. Even if she does, it won’t be soon.”
“Hm, I understand,” You Su Rong Rong sighed with a bitter smile. “Mostly, we came to pay a visit and get to know each other. As long as Young Jiu Lord doesn’t dislike us, that’s enough.”
“Rest assured, I’ll let you know once she’s finished with her training,” Bai Feng said with a smile, gesturing dismissively.
Deep inside, he couldn’t help but mutter—You Su Rong Rong’s fox’s attitude was a bit too servile. If she wasn’t acting, and if her whole “poor me” act was genuine, then the situation of the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan might be even worse than he thought.
“Thanks a lot.”
“Honestly, I think we shouldn’t pin all our hopes on Little Jiu,” Qiao Qiao said, munching the last of her Tiramisu. Then, eyes mischievously narrowed, she cast a sideways glance at Bai Feng. “Bai Feng, what do you think—am I right? Should we just forget about bloodlines altogether, find a few human geniuses to marry into, and ride out this storm?”
Bai Feng shook his head. “I don’t know enough about your situation to judge.”
“Qiao Qiao!” You Su Rong Rong tugged her arm. “Be good, don’t talk nonsense!”
“I’m just stating the facts! Honestly, at this point, who cares about bloodlines?” Qiao Qiao muttered softly, not continuing to pick on You Su Rong Rong anymore.
Then she extended a hand, pointing at the Tiramisu that You Su Rong Rong had only taken a bite of, and asked, “Can I have this?”
“…Here,” You Su Rong Rong sighed, pushing the dessert over.
“Thank you, Sister You Su!” Qiao Qiao eagerly grabbed her spoon and took a couple of bites. Curious, she looked at Bai Feng. “By the way, Bai Feng, where’d you buy these desserts? Is it Yu Ling Long? I didn’t see this in the shop—what city is it from?”
“I made it myself. Not on sale yet,” Bai Feng casually replied. “If you like, wait a few days. Soon, Yu Ling Long will start selling them.”
“Huh? Bai Feng, you can even make desserts?” Qiao Qiao’s eyes widened in surprise. “That’s pretty cool—what don’t you do, anyway?”
“Well… lots of things. Like giving birth—I can’t do that,” Bai Feng said plainly.
Qiao Qiao burst into laughter. “Bai Feng, you truly are interesting. Even though you can’t have children, you could just have someone else do it for you. I know a lot of fox maiden girls who’d love someone like Bai Feng—you want me to introduce you? I think they’d be delighted!”
Bai Feng’s mouth twitched slightly—how did she sound like a madam?
