Chapter 336: Even the Most Radical Fox in the Qing Qiu Clan Thinks It’s Too Radical
“Finally, they left.”
Bai Feng heaved a slow sigh of relief. Since he’d said all that stuff earlier, Zuo Qiu had finally stopped overthinking and just blurted everything out—though it did come with its own set of weirdness. Things like taking a walk, napping on his lap, even poking his head and rubbing his belly. Yep, totally normal feelings for a pet, right?
Thankfully, System never batted an eye. Probably because he had already branded Zuo Qiu as a pet beforehand, so things like head-pats and belly-rubs wouldn’t dump Luck Points on him. That was a relief.
But honestly, that wasn’t his biggest worry. What would happen if Zuo Qiu kept asking for more bizarre favors? If he handled it poorly, today’s system pushing Luck Points on him might just be the tip of the iceberg—something could go seriously wrong.
‘But… this could be a great chance to level up,’ he thought. ‘If I can… Wait, what am I even thinking?’
He rubbed his forehead, shutting down that dangerous train of thought. His Luck Points were already sky-high—anything higher and he’d probably get a nosebleed or trigger some weird breaking point that made the Child of Destiny want him dead at first glance.
‘Forget it. Let’s see how things go later.’
Shaking his head, he opened the system interface to check the reward: the “Immortal’s Arm – bl**d Divine Technique.”
Just the name alone told him it was definitely a system-derived upgrade from that destroyed Immortal’s arm. After a few moments glance, his expression sharpened with focus.
Though the bl**d Divine Technique sounded like a malicious Demonic Path method, the content was surprisingly not evil. Basically, cultivating this technique sped up wound healing—yes, even to the point of regrowing lost limbs. Fancy!
Plus, the bl**d now had a new use: carrying a tiny bit of Spirit Power. No follow-up techniques, but probably meant to be used with other techniques, or maybe it was just an incomplete version of the bl**d Divine Technique.
That alone was enough. With his already formidable Flesh Body Technique, his physical strength wasn’t low to begin with. Plus, the swift healing meant he was basically unkillable in the future.
‘Just when I was planning to deal with the Demonic Path, the system gives me this technique. Looks like I’ll have to go all out now.’
But first, I need a new Portable Array Disk—something solid enough to give me the confidence to step outside.
So he stood and headed toward the mountaintop research lab.
……
“Already gotten a letter so soon?”
Qiao Qiao watched the pigeon, which was pecking sharply at the glass outside the window. She hurried over, opened the window, and directed the pigeon in.
As soon as the pigeon entered, it zoomed straight onto the sofa. Then, with a loud poof, it transformed into a young girl collapsing onto the sofa, exhausted. “Next time, I’m not taking jobs that are so far away!”
“Ling Lan? You’re actually the one delivering the message this time?”
Qiao Qiao was a bit surprised. She and Ling Lan had known each other for ages; Ling Lan was a fellow Transformation God Stage cultivator, and, well, also a bit of a thrill-seeker—one of the reasons they became friends.
“Yep. Your family’s old foxes are paying quite well. Plus, since it’s for you, I took the job,” Ling Lan nodded. Then she added with some complaint, “But if I’d known it was in the Northern Region, I wouldn’t have taken this tedious gig! They even demanded I rush it. I didn’t dare stop along the way.”
Usually, she’d tease Ling Lan for her reckless streak, but today, she was too tired. “Fine, fine. Thanks for your effort. Here’s a small cake as reward. Go rest for a bit!”
“Cake? What’s that?”
While Ling Lan examined the tiny cake, Qiao Qiao quickly read the letter.
She had a bad feeling that something was up in her clan—otherwise, why would the elders shell out big bucks to have Ling Lan deliver it?
After reading, her suspicion was confirmed: the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan was indeed in trouble. Enemy Monster Tribes had suddenly changed tactics, and recent days had seen ongoing conflicts—they seemed intent on swallowing them, even if it meant heavy losses.
But, at least, they weren’t at the worst point yet. Her clan’s recent scheming wasn’t for nothing; at a critical moment, the Human Clan pulled them out with some kind of hero—perhaps that prodigious Human genius. The situation was temporarily stabilizing, but the outlook was still grim.
“Wow, this ‘Cake’ is really delicious. Have you been eating this whole time?” Ling Lan suddenly raised her head, crumbs of cream on her lips. “Ugh, with such good stuff, and you didn’t tell me? Guess I was wrong to think of you as my good sister!”
“There’s even better stuff!” Qiao Qiao pocketed the letter, a faint smile returning to her face. “If you have enough time, you could stay here a few more days. I promise, you’ll see things that’ll blow your mind.”
“If you say so, then I might stay a little longer,” Ling Lan nodded.
“Oh! And I have a good place to recommend—go to Xuan Guang City, then visit Yu Ling Long. There are tons of cool, fun things there,” Qiao Qiao grinned. “Since I told you all this, help me with a little favor?”
“Sure! What do you need?” Ling Lan tilted her head, curious.
“Buy me a bigger house. In a few days, some juniors from my clan will come to visit. You help entertain them,” Qiao Qiao said, rummaging in her pocket and looking a bit distressed. “Cover the cost for the house first. I’ll pay you back once I get some money.”
“You’ve been at the Heavenly Sword Sect all this time, how do you plan to get money?”
“That’s none of your business! I’ve got plenty of ways to make bucks!”
Ling Lan still had doubts, but seeing how long they’d known each other and trusting that Qiao Qiao wouldn’t cheat her, she shrugged. Besides, she could just go to the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan if she had to—debt collection was debt collection.
“Fine, I agree!” she nodded without hesitation. “But let me rest a few days first. I’m exhausted from this journey.”
“You! Lazy bird… ah, whatever. Rest up. They’ll take a while to reach the Northern Region after crossing Central Continent.”
Qiao Qiao looked down at the letter in her hand—her elders’ reaction was even more intense than she’d imagined. She thought they’d just send some insignificant juniors to scout, but instead, the Qing Qiu Clan had sent their top young talents.
That reckless gamble even the most radical among the Qing Qiu Clan considered too bold.
After all, although they were the most aggressive, they still had some conservative old-timers. The fact that they made such a decision in so little time—does it mean the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan’s situation is truly dire?
