Chapter 379
Bai Feng: “This storage ring? Yeah, I’m done using this thing. All of you…”
“Huh? Looks like Yu Mo is starting to move.”
Bai Feng paused. He sensed that Bai Yu Mo was no longer chilling at some random spot but was actually rushing straight toward him, and her speed was impressively fast.
“Well then, let’s speed things up too!”
Yun Yue Yao was holding a freshly plucked spirit fruit. She took a small bite and suggested, “Since Bai Yu Mo is coming, maybe we should pick up the pace.”
After hearing about the immortal finger, she figured relying on just a few of them wasn’t very safe. Better to bring Bai Yu Mo along — after all, her strength was powerful enough to protect everyone.
“Then… no, maybe we don’t really need to rush,” Bai Feng hesitated. He shook his head, noting they’d already been heading in Yu Mo’s direction. They weren’t that far now.
“Is she about to arrive?” Yun Yue Yao reached out, holding the spirit fruit at Bai Feng’s lips. “A few more minutes?”
“Three…” Bai Feng said.
“Two.” Yun Yue Yao replied.
Bai Feng glanced down at Yun Yue Yao, whose lips curled into a smug smile. “I knew what you were about to say.”
“Then you should cooperate with me a little!”
Bai Feng let out a sigh and bit down hard on the spirit fruit Yun Yue Yao handed him—ugh, I was in the middle of a joke, and it got cut off. So frustrating.
Meanwhile, a streak of light sliced through the distant sky, heading straight for Bai Feng.
In almost an instant, the luminous streak was on collision course with him.
But he didn’t feel a fierce impact—in fact, it felt kind of… soft.
Lowering his gaze, he saw Bai Yu Mo holding him tightly. He grinned and reached out, ruffling her head. “Almost thought I was gonna fly out of your embrace.”
“I can control my strength…” Bai Yu Mo muffled into his chest.
“All right, all right. I’m not running anywhere, stop holding on so tightly,” Bai Feng said.
“Hmm…” Bai Yu Mo reluctantly loosened her embrace. Her little face was slightly red, and her eyes looked elsewhere — probably a bit shy after her actions just now.
Well, she hadn’t seen Bai Feng in such a long time, it was only natural she couldn’t help herself. If it weren’t for the fact that they just entered the Secret Realm and she’d stumbled upon the Sword Pavilion’s legacy, she’d probably forget all about waiting and just run straight to him.
She then turned her head to glance at Yun Yue Yao, nearby. Over there, Tian Yan was munching on a cake, mouth low and eyes hidden with jealousy, and Zuo Qiu looked down, seemingly envious.
Her brows furrowed slightly. “So… am I the last to arrive?”
She suspected these guys hadn’t listened to Bai Feng’s instructions—just stormed into the Secret Realm without waiting for her, while she was still cluelessly exploring.
“Because some things happened,” Bai Feng said, glancing around. Then he dropped some array disks. “This isn’t a place to talk. Let’s change locations.”
With that, he revealed the Celestial Ring on his finger.
…
“So, brother, you ran into a remnant of an immortal again?”
Bai Yu Mo’s eyes turned a little sinister.
‘Yu Mo’s strength seems to have improved quite a bit…’
Bai Feng instinctively pondered in his mind. Although Bai Yu Mo had already been stronger than him in swordsmanship before, today’s pressure was something he’d never felt before.
No wonder she was the Child of Destiny with Celestial Bone. Heck, he was basically the system’s punching bag—forced to be ‘fed’ against his will—yet she still managed to push him to the edge.
Part of that was thanks to him too. Without the Body Refining Technique, Bai Yu Mo’s strength wouldn’t be so over the top.
“Don’t worry, I’m fine,” Bai Feng said, pulling Bai Yu Mo into his arms to comfort her. Her imposing aura and sword intent instantly dispersed.
Her face was a little red, but she didn’t struggle free, just hummed softly and buried her face in his chest.
“If something really happened, what then?” Bai Yu Mo mumbled shyly.
“I’d expect you to trust me a little, sister,” Bai Feng said, pinching her cheek. “I’m not the weak chicken I used to be. I might even be more skilled than you now!”
“Hmm…” Bai Yu Mo wasn’t easily convinced by that, but she didn’t argue further. Instead, she looked around at the scenery, softly asking, “Are we inside that ring right now?”
“Yeah. I got it from that finger. Not bad, huh?” Bai Feng nodded.
Bai Yu Mo lowered her head in thought for a few seconds, then softly said, “So from now on, training will be easier…”
…
What the heck is with you and Yun Yue Yao? How come all you think about are trivial things like that?
Honestly, Bai Feng thought it was pretty convenient too.
After muttering that in his head, he suddenly remembered something and reached out to take the exchanged storage ring.
“Oh, right. Now that I have this ring, I don’t need that other storage ring anymore. You guys…”
Before he finished, four sets of eyes shot over in unison.
Bai Feng felt an inexplicable wave of pressure. He even peeked at Tian Yan—wait, why was Zuo Qiu also looking? What was with everyone?
Then he saw Tian Yan holding out a piece of cake, munching while staring at them.
“…”
Since when was Tian Yan’s personality so horrible?
As Bai Feng cursed silently at Tian Yan’s nasty streak, Yun Yue Yao appeared in front of him unexpectedly.
“I remember this storage ring was left to Xiaojiu by her grandma. So, I, as Xiaojiu’s owner, will take care of it,” Yun Yue Yao explained, brandishing her small hand with her ring finger bent. “Come on, sweetheart, put this ring on me.”
“Hold on!” Bai Yu Mo suddenly interrupted. “You’re Xiaojiu’s owner, but don’t you even care about her? Xiaojiu’s eatin’ my and Bai Feng’s cooking. You’re just her nominal owner, while I and Bai Feng are her real masters. I think I should be the one to hold onto this ring.”
That made sense—Xiaojiu loved to munch on fox food, sure, but she also liked to pig out on Bai Feng’s cooking alongside Bai Yu Mo.
‘Come to think of it, I wonder if Xiaojiu is doing okay in her cavern. I left her tons of fox food. She shouldn’t be starving, right?’
Meanwhile,
*Sniff!*
In the cave, a girl in baggy clothes was lounging on the bed, playing with a Leave-Trace Device. Surrounding her were bags of fox food—ice-cold soda next to them.
She rubbed her nose, feeling unexpectedly chilly.
“Is it cooling down?”
She stuck her tail out from behind, wrapping herself in it even as her hands kept fiddling.
“d*mn it, she’s dead again! Why is this guy so weak? I swear, I wanna dive into the game and beat up this useless idiot!”
She yelled, then angrily stuffed a handful of fox food into her mouth and continued her game from the latest save point.
“By the way, when are Bai Feng and the others coming back? When they do, I definitely need him to make a fox-compatible Leave-Trace Device. Otherwise, I gotta turn into a fox just to play—claws and all, it’s kinda awkward.”
