Chapter 390: “Bro, can you delete it…”
“Is that all?” Bai Feng looked skeptical. “What’s so embarrassing about this?”
“Hmm hmm.” Bai Yu Mo hurriedly nodded, but whether what she just said was actually that… well, only she knew.
Seeing her hesitant to speak, Bai Feng didn’t push and simply patted his leg. “Come on.”
“Mm…” Bai Yu Mo nodded slightly and started shifting her body a little. Seeing this, Bai Feng reached out and simply yanked her over.
Her body lost balance as Bai Feng dragged her, and she ended up crashing into his embrace. Now, why would a high-level sword cultivator be so easily pulled around… well, that’s not really the point.
She curled up in Bai Feng’s arms, feeling safe and cozy — so much so that she couldn’t help but relax.
It’s kinda funny. As a kid, she was the one who loved acting cute, but she always pretended to be strong, refusing to be treated like a little kid. But now, wanting to act cute but too shy to speak… awkward, right?
Thinking of that, she scooted even closer into Bai Feng’s embrace — this might be the last time she dared to do so. After all, it’s pretty embarrassing to speak up.
Before she knew it, she had closed her eyes and was breathing evenly, peacefully.
Bai Feng didn’t let go, keeping her just as she was, letting her rest well in his arms.
…
“Uhm…”
After a while, Bai Yu Mo slowly opened her eyes. She’d just had a dream, where she returned to her childhood with her memories intact, saw a very young Bai Feng, and took the chance to act adorable toward him.
Thinking about what she did in the dream made her cheeks flush with embarrassment.
“Wake up?”
“Mm…” Bai Yu Mo nodded slightly. She looked up and saw Bai Feng fiddling with a… this thing again?
Her brow furrowed slightly. “A Secret Realm doesn’t allow using Image Retainers to contact, right?”
“Oh, I just heard some really cute sounds earlier, so I recorded them,” Bai Feng said with a grin, holding the device.
“C-Cute sounds?”
Maybe because she was just waking up, her mind was still foggy, and she didn’t catch on.
Then Bai Feng happily pressed play. Immediately, a soft, coquettish voice came out from the device: “Big bro… hug…”
As soon as she heard that, Bai Yu Mo’s whole body froze, like a computer that just crashed. Her face turned instantly crimson — although the tone wasn’t exactly different from what she could say, it’s just a voice. Her voice.
And yeah, she recognized it—this wasn’t what she said in her dream to young Bai Feng?
In the next second, Bai Yu Mo snatched the device with a flick, staring at multiple recordings inside, and felt her rationality just… collapse.
Oh no, she felt like she couldn’t survive in this world anymore…
“Bro, can you delete it…”
Her voice trembled, almost on the verge of tears.
“Eh, that voice is so adorable, deleting it would be such a shame,” Bai Feng coughed awkwardly, but saw her close to tears and could only let out a bitter sigh. “Alright, alright, I’ll delete it. Done.”
It was his first time hearing Bai Yu Mo sound so cute, wanted to keep it as a keepsake, but didn’t think she’d react like this.
Bai Yu Mo, still held in his arms, gradually regained some sanity. She buried her red, warm face into his chest and whispered softly, “…Big bro, do you really like the stuff I said in my dream?”
“Mm, because honestly, I’ve barely heard you act cute from childhood till now,” Bai Feng said with a smile.
Bai Yu Mo was silent for a few seconds, then slowly lifted her blushing little face. “Then can you delete my dream talk? Big brother…”
Like acting cute in a dream, but this time, her tone carried a hint of shyness, making her even more adorable.
“…Cough, that’s a bit too much rule-breaking,” Bai Feng said with a light cough, feeling his heart race slightly.
If it was anyone else, he might not get so excited, but Bai Yu Mo was different. She was usually so serious and proper—hardly anyone could picture her acting cute. That huge contrast was pretty shocking.
He clicked on the recording list in the Image Retainer. “Since you begged so much, I’ll definitely fulfill your request.”
At this moment, Bai Yu Mo gently pinched the corner of the device. “Um… can I delete it myself?”
“Sure,” Bai Feng replied directly, not refusing, and handed her the device.
She looked at it, lost in thought for a moment. Then she lifted her head slightly and asked softly, “Can I keep this device for a little while? I’ll give it back to you later.”
“Okay.”
Bai Feng nodded, though he had no idea what she was up to. He didn’t question her, just let her do her thing. After all, it’s just a device; in this secret realm, they couldn’t even communicate with it, just take pictures or something.
Meanwhile,
“Suddenly I feel really annoyed,” Yun Yue Yao grumbled inwardly as she hurried along outside. “But given how thick-skinned Bai Yu Mo is, she probably won’t do anything too crazy, right?”
Forget it, just get to the center of the secret realm and then see what’s up in the ring.
…
“Jie Jie Jie, you’d better just hand over your finger now. I’ll give you a painless end,” a sickly pale man cackled, his voice twisted.
In front of him was another man, equally pale, but in much worse state. The lower half of his body looked torn apart, as if a beast had bitten and swallowed him.
Despite his grievous wounds, he showed no signs of surrender. His face was manic and hysterical, holding his right hand down to his side: “This finger is mine! Don’t even think about taking it!”
“Well, then, there’s no choice,” the healthy man licked his lips, savoring it. “If you honestly admit defeat, I’d be pretty disappointed.”
Without hesitation, he reached out and grabbed the man on the ground. The other opened his mouth—long, sharp teeth bounced into view—and bit toward his opponent’s neck.
Suddenly, the remaining half of the battered man let out a desperate scream. No matter how fiercely he fought back, defending his finger with his bloodied life, his grip remained tight.
Soon after…
“Not bad.”
The man, eyes unfocused, stared at the finger he held. Without hesitation, he cut off his own index finger on his right hand, then pressed the severed finger to the tip.
And that’s how the story ends.
