**Chapter 408: Are You Tired of Me, Senior Sister?**
“Not bad at all! The new product and the optimizations on the communicator are pretty great!”
Bai Feng held the ‘report’ organized by Yu Yao regarding Yu Ling Long. He originally hadn’t planned on reading it, but Yu Yao insisted he check it out, claiming that as a half-owner of Yu Ling Long, he needed to familiarize himself.
“Those foxes and pigeons from the Southern Region have helped a lot too. They’ve got quite a few talented individuals among them,” Yu Yao nodded. “Although, there are just a few too many of them. If it weren’t for my aunt managing Xuan Guang City, I bet there would be a big mess by now.”
“If the numbers get too unwieldy, you can send some of the foxes and pigeons over to Blue Rainbow City,” Bai Feng suggested.
“I had a similar thought, but I need you to come with me to Blue Rainbow City. I plan to renovate Yu Ling Long over there,” Yu Yao replied.
“That shouldn’t be a problem, but we’ll have to wait a little while.”
It was about time he returned home too. Once he passed the Refinement Trial and advanced to the Refinement Stage, he’d finally have some self-defense capabilities and could go back and visit.
Speaking of which, if he brought Yu Yao along, would that count as meeting the parents?
Bai Feng fell into deep contemplation.
“I’m in no rush; just go about your business,” Yu Yao waved her hand, then suddenly remembered something. “Oh right, there’s one more thing I need to tell you.”
“What’s up?”
“Those foxes and pigeons seemed to have nominated one of the foxes to report directly to you. I think it’s a pretty good idea because managing those foxes is a bit tricky. With your help, I could lighten my load a bit,” she asked, “What do you think?”
Bai Feng thought for a few seconds. Since those foxes came based on Little Jiu’s association, it would be tough for Yu Yao to manage them alone.
He nodded. “Sure, who’s the reporting fox? Is it Qiao Qiao?”
Yu Yao shook her head. “Nope, but you know her. It’s You Su Rong Rong, who doesn’t really seem like a fox spirit at all.”
“Oh, her? Seems like she’s not giving up,” Bai Feng responded without much surprise.
With a curious tilt of her head, Yu Yao asked, “What’s up with her? Do we need to replace her with another fox?”
“It’s still about Little Jiu,” Bai Feng shook his head. “No need to switch. I think even if we refuse this time, she’ll find another way to try and settle in.”
“Okay, I’ll let them know.”
After that, Yu Yao took out the communicator and began typing away.
“Speaking of which…” While Yu Yao was busy with her texts, Bai Feng looked at the person still perched on his lap and asked, “How long are you planning to stay there?”
“Hey! Are you trying to kick your senior sister out? We haven’t seen each other in ages! Or do you not want me around anymore?” Yu Yao feigned sadness, dramatically pulling out a handkerchief to dab at her eyes.
“…”
Bai Feng couldn’t help but smirk. Maybe he had been away for a bit too long; Yu Yao seemed to have forgotten that time she had to eat her words.
“Fair point,” he said, pulling Yu Yao into an embrace, turning her to face him while gently lifting her chin. “How about we get a bit cozy then?”
“Y-Younger Junior Brother…” Yu Yao’s cheeks flushed bright red, her speech stumbling, “W-Wait! I’m not ready yet—ugh…”
Moments later, the once feisty Yu Yao sat quietly on his lap, blushing and utterly still.
Bai Feng appeared undaunted and looked at her, “Senior Sister, do you have anything else to discuss?”
“…Yes.” Yu Yao finally met his gaze, but her eyes wandered off again. “I made a few clothes recently and I’d like you to… check them out…”
“Sure, where are they?”
“F-Follow me.”
Yu Yao jumped off his lap, grabbed his hand, and hurriedly led him toward the bedroom, head down.
…
“Are these the promising disciples of this round?”
“Yes, they’ve got decent array talents. The Sect Master instructed us to keep an eye on disciples with good array skills and send them to your research facility for training, so here they are.”
“We have our hands full as it is. When do we have time to train new disciples…”
The speaker sighed. The research facility Bai Shixiong built differed from those on other peaks. Like in Dan Peak, where alchemists mostly worked independently, only occasionally gathering for discussions, these array masters were all about teamwork—discussing, experimenting, and were burdened with a ton of daily work.
But he didn’t mind much. They received a fixed ‘salary’ and if new arrays were successfully developed and put on the market, they’d get bonuses. Most importantly, he could truly feel progress—not only in his personal skills but in the environment around him. For instance, the forum Bai Shixiong created had undergone three major updates, significantly evolving from its original version—a transformation he never experienced in the traditional array master environment.
“Well, it is what the Sect Master decided. I assume Bai Shixiong knows about it too. Maybe you should ask him?”
“No need; the Sect Master already informed me.”
Just then, Bai Feng strolled in from behind, glanced at the newcomers, and paused his gaze on a girl who looked to be only thirteen or fourteen years old. What are they doing sending kids like this?
He internally grumbled about the Sect Master’s questionable decisions before returning his attention. “I’ve got a plan. You take them to the houses at the foot of the mountain, and I’ll let you know what to do next.”
“Yes, Bai Shixiong.”
Once the new disciples left, Bai Feng shook his head in resignation. Perhaps because he was nearing the Refinement Stage breakthrough, the Sect Master had started thinking about establishing an Array Peak, and these newcomers were just the beginning.
But he was also keen on training new disciples, so he didn’t hesitate further.
Bai Feng planned to employ a different approach to training these disciples since the research facility’s methods didn’t fit traditional array masters. Establishing an appropriate training system was especially important.
“Bai Feng?”
A faint voice rang out from a short distance. Bai Feng instinctively looked up to see Su Lan Qian peeking through a partially open door, half-hidden behind it and staring at him.
“Senior Sister Su,” Bai Feng greeted with a smile, even cracking a joke, “You’re not still bothered by the Heart Demon, are you?”
“Mm…”
Su Lan Qian slowly approached, but instead of rushing into a hug, she stood in front of him, her small face tinged with a hint of red.
‘It’s Bai Feng’s aura, much more intense than the one on the blanket and clothes. I can’t be dreaming…’
Bai Feng had no idea what thoughts swirled in her head, assuming she was just shy, so he pulled her into a gentle embrace.
“Ugh…”
Su Lan Qian’s body shivered for a moment before she leaned weakly against him, her breath becoming a tad heavier.
