Chapter 409: How Did Your Little Brain Actually Grow?
“Senior Sister Su, are you okay?”
Bai Feng saw Su Lan Qian suddenly become powerless and hurriedly reached out to hold her, examining her carefully.
But he didn’t detect any sickness or Heart Demon—at most, she just looked a bit tired. But this level of fatigue shouldn’t cause her body to go limp like this.
“I’m fine… just a little too excited,” Su Lan Qian hurriedly shook her head. “It’ll be better in a little while.”
At the same time, she clutchingly hugged Bai Feng. During their brief separation, although she had her stuff from Bai Feng’s clothes and bedding, those items’ aura kept fading with every use, making her feel even more uneasy inside. Now she wanted to seize this opportunity to absorb more of his aura—preferably like before, infusing herself with it…
“Good, good—you’re fine. We have important things to do next. I’ll keep you company when we take a break,” Bai Feng said while ruffling her hair.
Only then did she seem a little reluctant to let go.
“Oh! By the way, is our master here? I have something I want to ask,” Su Lan Qian nodded.
“Yes, she’s been here lately,” Bai Feng replied.
“Huh? So, Master’s got so much free time?” Bai Feng looked a bit surprised. He thought that Master Liu Meng would be busy researching portable Array Disks for a few days and then go back to her own things. He didn’t expect her to stay in the lab all this time.
“Well, maybe she just likes this environment,” Su Lan Qian said uncertainly.
“Yeah, given her personality, that’s not surprising,” Bai Feng nodded slightly.
His master, Liu Meng, might be from the Demon Path, so her personality and philosophy differ quite a bit from traditional Array Masters—disobedient, rebellious, some might say off the beaten path. She’s quite a contrast to his other master, Chu Ning Yan. Neither of them seem to understand how they became friends.
“Let’s go see her.”
…
“From now on, unless something unexpected happens, you should be considered pre-members of the Research Room,” the Array Master leading the group told the new disciples. “But I’ll warn you upfront—we’re different from traditional Array Masters. If you’re not used to or don’t like it, speak early. Otherwise, getting kicked out won’t look good.”
“Um, what’s the difference?” asked a little girl, raising her hand.
Seeing that the query was from the youngest among them—probably due to her age or perhaps because younger disciples tend to be more talented—the Array Master softened his tone a bit: “It’s hard to explain in a single sentence, you’ll find out later. But don’t worry too much—the work here isn’t hard, and you’re mostly here to learn.”
A few obedient disciples nodded, likely because they wanted to take care of Bai Feng. None of them came from wealthy backgrounds, so they had no airs.
The Array Master nodded slightly: “Alright, take your tokens and pick a room to settle in. With the token, you can wander around the sect freely—just don’t lose it.”
“Understood.”
Shortly after, the youngest disciple chose a corner room. She gazed wide-eyed, curious, staring at the Array formations inside—the ones that could sh**t water, sh**t fire, that made sounds when pressed outside, and even had freezing functions…
“This looks pretty interesting,” she thought.
She reached out and poked the water fountain that could spray water. Many formations here were quite different from what she remembered.
“What should I do next?” she wondered, playing with the faucet and water.
It seemed that only the person who recommended her to join the Heavenly Sword Sect to cultivate, preferably in the research room with Bai Feng to learn Array Magic together, had said nothing else.
“Maybe I should just go out and look around?” Her curiosity grew wildly. After all, she was at the core of the mighty Heavenly Sword Sect in the Northern Region. Naturally, she was very curious about this place.
So she turned off the water, wiped her hands, and pushed the door open to go out.
…
“Master.”
“Oh, you’re back?” Liu Meng waved hurriedly when she saw Bai Feng. “Come over, have a look at the forum I made for the sect.”
“Huh… oh.” Bai Feng was stunned for a moment. He thought his master was researching portable Array Disks or some other advanced stuff to improve herself. He never expected her to be “building” a forum.
He looked at what her version of the forum involved, pondering deeply.
“Back when I used forums before, finding a specific user’s shared photos or stuff was a pain. Having to search through tons of replies, some images buried at the end of threads, or split across multiple posts—really tedious. So I tweaked it to suit my ideas.”
Liu Meng slid her finger over the ‘forum’ interface while explaining.
“Now, just clicking on a person’s name shows their shared pictures, tutorials, even cultivation tips. Replies are minimized; you can’t see others’ responses unless you click into them.”
‘SomeBo?’ (a pun on a popular social site, similar to ‘SomeWe’ or ‘SomeBoo’)
Bai Feng’s mind instantly associated it with a certain website. Though Liu Meng’s forum differed in many ways, it was already taking shape.
“Master, how about making it a bit more straightforward? Like, you could focus on personal sharing features—like a better version of SomeBo…” He briefly described the basic functions, planning to get some water to clear his throat when suddenly, he noticed Liu Meng staring at him intently.
Then she reached out, resting her hand on his head—then began to caress it.
“Honestly, I have no idea how your little brain is actually growing. No wonder Ning Yan kept praising you recently.” She roughly ruffled Bai Feng’s hair, as if trying to see if his brain structure was different from ordinary folks’.
The corner of Bai Feng’s mouth twitched as she rubbed his head—only he’d done this to others before, never thought someone would do it to him.
“Master…”
Right then, Su Lan Qian tugged at Liu Meng’s sleeve, seeming somewhat unhappy.
“All right, that’s enough,” Liu Meng said with a helpless sigh, rubbing Su Lan Qian’s head. “Honestly, you’re even jealous of your own master.”
After a few sarcastic remarks, she got up from her seat. “Go on, get busy. I’m going to keep tinkering with my forum. If you have questions, just ask me there.”
As she took a few steps and then suddenly turned back, she pulled a sealed piece of clothing from her storage pouch and handed it to Su Lan Qian.
“Oh, this was the outfit I bought for you before. Don’t forget to wear it.”
Su Lan Qian: “……”
