Chapter 419: Is Bai Feng Doing This Entirely for Her… Or Just Because He Likes Making My Head Hurt?
“Maybe we should think about building the Array Peak already,” the Sect Master of the Heavenly Sword Sect announced with a grin, rubbing his beard happily as he spoke to Bai Feng, who had just finished his retreat.
“I don’t really get this stuff… So, Sect Master, maybe you could handle it?” Bai Feng waved his hand with a smile. “I mean, I’d be happy if you took care of it for me.”
“Kid, people would k*ll for the chance to do this, and you’re complaining about trouble?” the Sect Master shook his head, speechless. “So, what are your requirements?”
Bai Feng stroked his chin thoughtfully. “Maybe just pick the mountain where the research room is? That way, I won’t have to waste time moving again.”
“…Forget it, I’ll do it myself,” the Sect Master sighed, a bit helpless, and finally nodded.
After sending away the somewhat resigned Sect Master, Bai Feng leisurely returned to his study.
Though he’d just broken through to the Refinement Stage, that didn’t mean he’d kicked back and relaxed. Nope, he was busy preparing for virtual training sessions right now.
As he continued constructing his array, the doorbell rang—again.
Ding dong~
“Today’s visitors sure are many…” Bai Feng sighed as he set aside his work. Not that he was surprised; even within the Heavenly Sword Sect, a disciple breaking into the Refinement Stage was a pretty big deal.
He got up, walked to the door, and opened it—only to find Chu Chu standing outside.
“Chu Chu! What’s up? Ain’t you been training in the Simulation Secret Realm today?” Bai Feng asked, surprised.
If memory serves, Chu Chu had been practically living in the Simulation Secret Realm, hardly ever coming out to rest.
Chu Chu shook her head. “I have something I want to discuss with you and Yu Mo.”
“Come in, then,” Bai Feng said seriously, gesturing for her to enter.
A moment later, Bai Feng poured a cup of tea for Chu Chu, who was sitting on the sofa. “Yu Mo is still consolidating her cultivation. You can tell me what’s on your mind first.”
“Mhm…” Chu Chu didn’t answer immediately. She held her tea cup, taking small sips. Though her eyes were covered with a black cloth, her slight head-tilt seemed like she was secretly glancing at Bai Feng—her movements a little tense and hesitant.
Bai Feng sat beside her patiently, sipping his tea.
Chu Chu set down her cup, took a deep breath, seemingly having made a firm decision. “Well, the Simulation Secret Realm isn’t really helping me much anymore, so I was thinking maybe I should go out for some real-world training. Do you have any suggestions?”
“Training, huh…” Bai Feng put down his cup. He’d observed Chu Chu’s impatience—it was like something was chasing her, always just out of reach. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been stuck inside the Simulation Secret Realm all this time.
He had no good solutions either; he’d already tried to persuade her a few times, but nothing changed.
“Well,” Chu Chu continued, “these puppets I have can’t last many more rounds—they’re kind of stiff, and after a few battles, I start figuring out how to beat them. That’s especially obvious with regular puppets. But the stronger Transformation God Stage puppets? Yeah, I’m no match for those. So I want to go out and test myself.”
Hearing her explanation, Bai Feng fell into thought. If it was just like that, he had a pretty good idea.
He looked up at her. “Actually, I’ve been working on a pretty special ‘game’ called Virtual Training. It’s even better than the Simulation Secret Realm. Want to try it first? Then you can decide if you want to go out for real.”
“What’s virtual training?” Chu Chu asked curiously. Could it be some bigger version of the Simulation Secret Realm? And instantly, a thought flashed through her mind—*Could Bai Feng be doing all this for me?* Nah, that sounded way too narcissistic.
She hurriedly slapped her own face with her hand, halting her wild fantasies.
Bai Feng glanced at her. “Unlike the Simulation Secret Realm, Virtual Training is built with a full illusion array—think of it as an almost real world, where you could even experience a new life.”
“Oh…” Chu Chu nodded softly, but her expression showed confusion—she didn’t seem to fully understand.
Seeing that, Bai Feng rose easily. “It’s hard to explain with words. You should come and experience it yourself.”
By now, he had set up a simple demo—nothing fancy, but enough for Chu Chu’s combat needs.
“Alright,” she said without hesitation. She was also quite curious about this ‘Virtual Training’ Bai Feng mentioned.
She followed him into the study and saw a strangely small array, about half a room in size.
“Don’t let the size fool you,” Bai Feng said as he checked the array. “It’s fully functional.”
“Okay,” Chu Chu nodded.
She stepped into the array as instructed. The moment she did, it emitted a faint white glow that shrouded her, and a dizzying sensation washed over her. Her Celestial Eye blinked, flickering with resistance against the illusion.
Bai Feng hurried inside and stood beside her. The array also covered him, and he spoke softly: “Don’t resist. We’ll meet inside the Virtual Realm.”
Actually, he could’ve entered by other means, but for her peace of mind, he chose to do it together.
Looking at Bai Feng beside her, Chu Chu’s tension dissolved instantly. She slowly closed her eyes, suppressing her Celestial Eye’s power.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself on a grassy plain. Bai Feng was still standing next to her.
“How do you feel? Any discomfort?” he asked.
Chu Chu tried moving her body. Her face showed some surprise. “Nope. If it weren’t for my Celestial Eye constantly reminding me this was an illusion, I’d really think this was a real world.”
Bai Feng nodded. “Good. Let’s get started.”
He raised his hand, and suddenly, a black figure appeared in front of them—the figure wore a torn robe, constantly exhaling black mist, and its head was a roaring black flame.
This shadow was obviously a Child of Destiny—a representative of luck. He had summoned a Child of Destiny from the trial space to serve as Chu Chu’s opponent. Bai Feng believed that, with a Child of Destiny’s strength, she’d be satisfied.
He had many of these, as Shui Xi Yu, who was far in Eastern Continent, had been busy clearing dissenting forces. During that time, he’d noticed that these lucky children, when facing each other, didn’t run for their lives like they did confronting others—they fought with their own strength. Otherwise, too many would be dead.
Now, with plenty of these Child of Destinies in the trial space, Bai Feng figured—since they’d all been stuffed with Luck Points—why not use the dead ones in the Virtual Training?
He lowered his arms and turned back to Chu Chu. “Try this opponent. If it’s not strong enough, I’ll adjust it.”
“Got it!” Chu Chu could tell this wasn’t any ordinary puppet. She slowly drew her sword, instantly rushing toward the black shadow.
Ding!
The black figure somehow produced a huge sword in its hand, and with overwhelming force, pushed her back several steps.
She looked down, her numb hand trembling; her covered eyes flashed red with a fierce gleam, and her face blazed with renewed fighting spirit.
