Chapter 421: You’re the Master of Killing the Vibe
After munching on the grilled meat fed to her by Yu Yao, Bai Feng didn’t continue to tangle with Yu Yao but instead quietly started eating his own meat.
“Junior Brother.”
“Yes?”
Yu Yao lowered her head, flipping the grilled meat with a somewhat downcast tone. “What does it feel like to be at the Refinement Stage?”
“Nothing special.” Bai Feng watched as she flipped a piece of meat over. “See if you notice any difference between me now and before.”
“Hmm, not really.” Yu Yao glanced up briefly, then sighed. “Sigh, Senior Sister really hopes to break into the Refinement Stage too. I’m your senior sister, yet you’re leaving me further behind.”
“By the way, Senior Sister, you should be close to the late Transformation God stage, right?” Bai Feng rubbed his chin. “Want to do some special training with me? You might break through to the Refinement Stage real quick.”
“That’s not so easy. I’m not a genius like you and Bai Yu Mo,” Yu Yao shook her head, then looked up at Bai Feng again. “What’s this special training you mentioned?”
“It’s a pretty unusual array,” Bai Feng explained to Yu Yao. “Oh, and this has something to do with you. I’m planning to make a new game—not a casual one you forget right after playing, but a long-term management game.”
“Wow, a management game?” Yu Yao’s eyes lit up. “Sounds fun. But why do you need help?”
“So I need a team to manage it,” Bai Feng said. “Those foxes are fine too. Senior Sister, pick out a few smart ones for me.”
“Sure.” Yu Yao nodded. “What kind of game are you making?”
“You’ll find out later.” Bai Feng kept her in suspense. “So, Senior Sister, are you in for the special training?”
“Of course! Why not?!”
Yu Yao nodded without hesitation. Forget the training—just spending more time with Bai Feng is enough for her.
“Great, then let’s continue eating.” Bai Feng picked up another piece of grilled meat and ate. He looked around. “By the way, where’s Little Snow? I haven’t seen her.”
Yu Yao looked away, a bit guilty. “Dunno. Probably sleeping somewhere.”
Meanwhile, Locked in her room, Little Snow was boredly pushing a ball of yarn on the ground. She lifted her head, peering through the metal ‘welded’ window at the moon outside, and suddenly let out a loud meow:
“Meow!!!”
*The Nerve of this owner! I’ve helped you so much, and now you turn your back on your cat?!*
*Decided—I’m moving in with Bai Feng. I refuse to stay with this lousy owner anymore!*
…
Unexpectedly, Tian Yan appeared next to Bai Feng as he was building the array alone, tilting her head to look up at him.
“I didn’t think you’d be the first to break through to the Refinement Stage.”
“I didn’t expect you to still be stuck after all this time.” Bai Feng shot her a glance. Ever since he gave Tian Yan permission to come and go freely from his ring, she often popped up at odd moments—especially when he was unbothered.
Tian Yan looked at him expressionlessly. “It’s because you spend all your time mingling with others, cutting into my practice time, making my cultivation slower.”
“…Do you really have to say such misunderstandings?” Bai Feng grumbled. “Are you planning to become a Dao Companion with me or what?”
Tian Yan didn’t answer. Instead, she fell silent, lost in thought.
“Hey, hey, don’t tell me you’re serious.”
“But it’s worth considering.” Tian Yan looked up, her face still expressionless, as if she was commenting on something unrelated. “If we became Dao Companions, you’d spend much more time with me, and I could even cultivate while you sleep.”
Bai Feng slightly twitching the corner of his mouth. “Don’t forget your identity as Holy Maiden Tian Yan.”
“But as Tian Yan, my top priority is to improve my cultivation. Other things can wait,” Tian Yan replied seriously.
“That sounds pretty dangerous,” Bai Feng said, rubbing his temple.
“Relax. I’ve been by your side for a long time, so I know what kind of person you are. That’s why I’m considering it,” Tian Yan stared at him intently, a faint upward curve at the corner of her mouth. “Basically, you’re special to me.”
“Have you been reading some weird books lately?”
Something feels off. Recently, Tian Yan keeps saying things that cause misunderstandings, and it’s happening way too often. Before, she was always a mystery.
“Yeah, I’ve read some books.” Tian Yan didn’t deny it. “After all, I need your help, so saying some nice things to make you happy helps me stay close and cultivate. Of course, everything I say is the truth—not false, not deliberate.”
“…Have you considered that this might put you in danger?” Bai Feng lowered his head slightly and lifted her chin with his finger.
“I already said I’m okay with becoming your Dao Companion.” Tian Yan stared at him, her expression unchanging, as if nothing had happened.
“I see you’re determined,” Bai Feng released her chin, expecting to see her panic. But, as usual, she remained calm, leaving him slightly disappointed. He went back to his work seat.
“Not continuing?” Tian Yan tilted her head.
“What continuing?”
Bai Feng asked back, but Tian Yan didn’t respond. Instead, she moved closer and asked, “So, what do you think?”
Bai Feng looked at her standing before him, seemingly eager for a decision. Then he reached out, grabbing Tian Yan’s wrist and pulling her into his embrace. “This is what I think. And you?”
Tian Yan, lying in Bai Feng’s arms, lifted her head—her face devoid of shyness or blush, as calm as usual, her expression unreadable.
But then she reached up and gently cupped his face, kicked up her toes, and kissed him directly.
A few seconds later, she withdrew her hands, which had been on his cheeks, her face still expressionless as if nothing had happened: “That’s what I think.”
“…Strange. Why is this blonde twin-tailed girl so aggressive? Shouldn’t she maintain her tsundere image?”
At that moment, Tian Yan, who had been watching Bai Feng intently, slightly opened her mouth and asked, “Can I cultivate while you sleep from now on?”
“…You’re the Master of Killing the Vibe.”
Bai Feng’s mouth twitched. Honestly, he still couldn’t quite figure out Tian Yan’s inner thoughts.
“After all, my goal is cultivation and breakthroughs.”
“…That’s a bit tsundere too.”
Bai Feng internally grumbled, then suddenly had a suspicion. He asked further, “So, after you break through, will you still keep the Dao Companion status?”
Tian Yan didn’t answer immediately. She looked at him for a few seconds, then slowly explained, “Of course. The Refinement Stage isn’t the end.”
“So, until when? Merging? Great Ascension? Tribulation?”
“You talk a lot.”
