Chapter 435: Father Bai: I Really Hope Feng’er and Yu Mo Can Return to the Good Old Days
“So, what’s up with the Bai Family today? They weren’t this lively even during the Second Elder’s birthday party, right?”
“I heard it’s because the Young Master of the Bai Family is coming back.”
“The one who’s planning to dig up his sister’s Celestial Bone?”
“Have you been hiding underground practicing in secret these past few years? Now the truth is out—it’s not what you think!”
“Yeah, I heard it was the Third Elder’s faction planning the bone digging. The Young Master even left a letter for his father, the current head of the Bai Family, so it didn’t turn into a tragedy.”
“But isn’t the Young Master the beneficiary of the Celestial Bone transplant? And even so, shouldn’t it be less of a fuss?”
“Looks like you’ve truly been hiding in some deep state of cultivation. The Bai Family Young Master might not have exceptional talent in cultivation, but his formation talent is insanely impressive. I guess that’s one reason he doesn’t care much for the Celestial Bone. Clearly, the Bai Family Young Master has a heart set on becoming a powerhouse. After showing off his formation skills, he was even specially accepted by the Heavenly Sword Sect’s Formation Peak, and now he’s the Peak Master of the newly-formed Formation Mountain.”
“Huh… Peak Master? Have I really become a cultivation fool? What’s happened in the middle of all this?”
A few onlookers started buzzing and whispering, and their chatter quickly spread far and wide.
Meanwhile.
“Master, everything’s arranged.”
Bai Tian You, the head of the Bai Family, nodded expressionlessly: “Mm, good. You all may leave now.”
Of course, the ‘rumors’ were his own deliberate spreading—how could some random bystander know such secret news otherwise?
His reason was simple: leveraging Bai Feng’s position as the Heavenly Sword Sect’s Formation Peak Master to completely wash away old rumors.
Directly refuting rumors usually doesn’t work very well—most people just don’t buy it. But once Bai Feng achieved some success, the refutation effect improved a lot. Even before he had people start spreading the good word, some folks had already begun to ‘whitewash’ Bai Feng, calling him great and selfless. And after suffering severe suppression and falling into a slump as a spoiled brat, Bai Feng’s reputation might have been nearly ruined—but listening to it, Bai Tian You’s face reddened with embarrassment.
After the servants left, Bai Tian You finally couldn’t hold it back anymore, and his face broke into a brilliant smile: “Good kid, you’ve really surprised me!”
Initially, he sent Bai Feng to the Heavenly Sword Sect mainly to give him something to do—anything but stay at home drawing those weird diagrams all day. But unexpectedly, Bai Feng’s talent in formation had surpassed all expectations, and he even became the Peak Master of the Formation Peak.
And when the news of Bai Feng becoming Peak Master spread back to the Bai Family, those who’d previously frown at Bai Feng’s ‘idle doodling’ suddenly shut up. He even heard some people had begun to get their sons and grandsons to start drawing those diagrams, which instantly spoiled Bai Tian You’s good mood. He immediately issued a nighttime order banning anyone else from drawing such diagrams.
He didn’t want the Bai Family to turn into some sort of lewd art haven—otherwise, how would he look his ancestors in the eye after he died?
“Time’s probably about right, huh? I wonder how Feng’er and Yu Mo are getting along. Sigh… I really hope they can go back to how they were when they were kids.”
Meanwhile.
Bai Feng tilted his head and looked at Yu Mo, who had instinctively grabbed his wrist, and couldn’t help but chuckle: “You’re not the first to come home, you know. You don’t have to be so nervous.”
“But we’re not really… um… how should I tell Dad about this?” Yu Mo looked down, nerves making her mind race with all kinds of chaotic thoughts, which only made her more anxious.
“Relax. And if anyone should be nervous, it’s probably me,” Bai Feng said casually.
He subtly glanced at Yun Yue Yao and Yu Yao. Yu Yao was fine—her parents’ personalities were pretty easygoing. But Yun Yue Yao’s father, Uncle Yun, was a different story—way more dangerous. He was relieved Yun Uncle didn’t live in the Northern Region.
“Hmm? We’ve arrived.”
He snapped out of his thoughts and turned to look outside. A flying boat had landed in Blue Rainbow City, and he even spotted Bai Family’s servants waiting there.
“Let’s go.”
……
“By the way, Uncle Yun’s daughter seems to have gone with the Holy Maiden of Tian Yan Holy Land to Heavenly Sword Sect. Wonder how she and Feng’er are getting along—if they get along well, maybe she’ll come back with him, huh?”
Bai Tian You stroked his chin, pondering whether to send some pictures via communicator if Yun Yue Yao returned with Bai Feng.
Just then, he noticed a flying boat with the Heavenly Sword Sect insignia descending slowly from the sky and landing in Blue Rainbow City.
Looks like Feng’er and their group have arrived.
Bai Tian You watched as Bai Feng stepped out of the flying boat, flanked by a few figures.
“Looks like Yu Mo and Feng’er are getting along quite well,” he smiled, scratching his chin, feeling the heavy stone in his heart finally settle.
He then turned his gaze to the others, and his smile grew even broader. He easily spotted the daughter of Uncle Yun; judging from her close proximity to Feng’er, their relationship seemed pretty good.
As for the other two—one, a woman about the same height as Yun Yue Yao, looked familiar…
Could she be the daughter of the Yun family head of the Dragon Clan?
But that wasn’t too surprising—he knew Bai Feng and Yu Ling Long had many dealings, and their good relationship was normal.
What caught his attention more was the woman with horns on her head—some kind of monster tribe? No, wait, those are dragon horns. From what he knew, only the royal family of the East Continent’s dragon bloodline bore horns.
And she looked familiar too. Bai Tian You thought for a few seconds and suddenly remembered—wait, isn’t she the current Queen of the East Continent’s sister? How did she end up with Feng’er? Oh right, she once spent some time at Heavenly Sword Sect—probably met him then.
No wonder she hadn’t appeared publicly all this time; she was probably in the Northern Region. But he remembered that the East Continent Queen and her sister had a very good relationship—no way she ran away; maybe she came to the Northern Region for Feng’er? No, no, that’s too far-fetched. She probably came for portable array devices or similar things.
As he mulled over this, Yun Yue Yao suddenly reached out and hugged Bai Feng’s arm. His smile brightened even more—hehe, he really wanted to show this to Uncle Yun.
But then he saw Yu Mo also reach out and hug Bai Feng.
Bai Tian You was stunned for a few seconds, then rubbed his eyes and looked again—had he seen it right?
“Ugh…”
Bai Tian You leaned back dramatically. Sure, he had secretly hoped Feng’er and Yu Mo could revert to their childhood relationship—maybe a bit too much?
Best to hold off on sending those photos to Uncle Yun. He worried that if Uncle Yun got too excited, he might come storming straight to Bai Family from Central State.
“What’s wrong with Dad?”
Yun Yue Yao, watching the constantly ‘changing’ expression on Bai Tian You’s face, looked curious and asked Bai Feng.
Bai Feng silently shot Yun Yue Yao a glance—so now it’s ‘Dad’?
But he didn’t fuss about it. He shook his head and said, “Probably just excited to see us back, that’s all.”
