Chapter 439: Please, Young Master Bai, Take Us In—I Can Do Absolutely Anything!
Su Rongrong stood casually beside, waiting for Qiaoqiao and Bai Feng to wrap up their little chat. But just then, her communications device started jittering like a caffeinated squirrel on a sugar rush.
Prior to this, she had switched her comm device to silent mode—only the most special, important people could make it vibrate. So, naturally, when it did, her face instantly darkened like a storm cloud about to unleash fury.
She took a tiny step back, hurriedly fished out her communicator, and looked at the screen. Her expression sank faster than a sinking ship—if she were the emotional type, she might’ve even thrown her device across the room.
Turns out, the message was simple: Don’t come back. The clan’s decided to send some youngsters over to the Northern Region, and she’s supposed to join Bai Feng and the Qing Qiu Clan for work duties. Basically, her family’s staging a ‘separation’ plan, leaving her stranded like a kitten in a storm.
“Is it really this bad now?” she thought, fighting the urge to grimace and flash a bitter smile. She’d love to rush back to the Southern Region and lend a hand, but she knew deep down—what would she do? She couldn’t fight barely their way out of a paper bag. All she could do now was secure a roof over her clan’s heads.
With that in mind, she turned around and strutted toward Bai Feng like a lady on a mission.
Kneeling on the ground just like Qiaoqiao did moments ago, Su Rongrong begged, “Young Master Bai, could you please adopt us? We, the You Su Clan, will do anything—anything at all!”
“…Huh?”
What? Your You Su Clan was totally fine refusing to leave the Southern Region, right? Or was the situation of the Nine-Tailed Fox in the Southern Region about to take a nosedive again? Her head was swirling with questions.
Seeing Bai Feng unmoved, she turned to Qiaoqiao, who looked equally clueless, and then boldly reached up to the collar of her own. “Can I use this?”
Qiaoqiao blinked and nodded instinctively, and only after Su Rongrong snatched the collar did she realize—wait a second, what is Sister Su planning to do with that collar? Could it be…?
Then she watched as Su Rongrong tilted her head back slightly, exposing her smooth, pale neck, and let out a deep breath. Like she’d made up her mind, she carefully slipped the collar over her own neck.
‘Sister Su actually wore it…’ Qiaoqiao’s mouth went slack. Then she frowned slightly and muttered inwardly, ‘But why does she have to be the one to wear it? That takes away the key meaning of the collar—shouldn’t the Young Master Bai be the one putting it on her, with his own hands? What’s with her just slipping it on herself?!’
Of course, Su Rongrong wouldn’t hear her inner commentary. She continued kneeling and pleaded to Bai Feng, “Please, Young Master Bai, take us in—I’ll do anything!”
“…Well, no need to go that far,” Bai Feng said, his mouth twitching slightly. Su Rongrong’s speed was faster than a rocket. By the time he reacted, she’d already got the collar on herself.
“As long as you obey my commands and follow my lead, I can consider accepting you,” he added with a shrug.
Su Rongrong immediately let out a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Young Master Bai!”
Just then, Ling Lan strolled over, copying their gesture and kneeling down confidently. “Please, Young Master Bai, take us in too.”
“…What, you’re just crashing the party?” Bai Feng’s face twitched. Are these pigeons turning into repeat recorders or something?
“I just contacted the Clan Leader, and after some discussion, we think submitting to you is a better deal than just cooperating,” Ling Lan explained earnestly. “So, please, include us, too.”
He sighed inwardly. Having the pigeons jump into the chaos made everything seem a lot more… casual. But overall, Bai Feng nodded lightly. “Fine. From now on, follow me.”
He thought to himself—two dens of foxes, and now this flock of pigeons? Not bad, not bad.
—
Meanwhile, someone gently commented nearby, “Have you noticed the city’s suddenly full of monsters lately?”
“Are you crazy? Have you been buried underground like that shut-in from before? Yu Linglong even opened a fox-themed tea house in Qing Rainbow City! And you didn’t hear about it?”
“Do you think it’s safe having so many monsters packed into the city?”
“Don’t worry. Bai Family’s Young Master has tamed them all—turns out they’re all very obedient! Plus, Bai Family and Yu Linglong are watching over them.”
“I bet some of those monsters are even in the Transformation God Stage, and they still bow obediently? Seriously?”
“Honestly, if it was anyone else, I wouldn’t believe it. But this is Bai Feng—youngest Peak Master of Heavenly Sword Sect, the guy who invented portable Array devices, and he single-handedly stomped the Spirit Sealing Sect’s younger generation. He’s basically a genius among geniuses, the strongest of the strong!”
“I envy Young Master Bai! I mean, every morning he probably wakes up to a chorus of fox-eared maids serving him, right?”
Over on the other side…
“It looks like everything’s set,” Bai Feng said, snacking on some popcorn as he tossed a piece to a pigeon perched on the windowsill.
Ling Lan, meanwhile, suddenly froze, staring at the pigeons. She looked deep in thought.
“White Young Master’s methods are truly admirable,” Qiaoqiao sighed in awe.
Many in the Northern Region viewed monsters as dangerous, mostly because they were mostly wild beasts from the mountains. So, at first, she thought it would take forever for the Nine-Tailed Foxes to integrate into city life. But Bai Feng just subtly guided public opinion, and most people’s hostility was easily eased.
Sure, some still harbored suspicion, but this was far better than she had imagined.
However, Su Rongrong had a different opinion. She looked contemplative and asked, “But Bai Feng using his reputation to support us— isn’t that a bit risky?”
“Hey, I told you—we’ve set the rules. If anything happens, we handle it by the rules,” Bai Feng said, waving his hand. Then he added, “Just remember, when punishing those troublesome foxes, be transparent and open. Show everyone your attitude, and stir up some positive public opinion. Maybe ask Bai Family or Yu Linglong to help supervise, so it’s more effective. After all, you’re monsters—you’ll need some special tricks to survive here.”
“Got it, thank you, Young Master Bai,” Su Rongrong nodded, still knowing that ultimately, Bai Feng’s word was the key. If they weren’t under Bai Feng, Bai Family, or Yu Linglong’s protection, even the best tactics would be risky, and they might end up weak and vulnerable.
“Go do your thing. If you run into any trouble, just contact me.” Bai Feng took another popcorn and looked at the two pigeons—instead of two, now there was a third? He blinked, looking around.
Lings Lan was gone—just a half-eaten bucket of popcorn remained.
He sighed silently. Sometimes he really couldn’t understand these pigeons’ brains: they refuse to eat his popcorn, then snake over to snatch someone else’s popcorn disguised as a normal pigeon? Is that even possible?
