Chapter 440: Young Master Bai, Could You Kindly Give My Charm Art a Little More Guidance?
“Young Master Bai, I’ve settled my tribesmen down. Could you perhaps give us some tasks to do?”
In the early morning, Qiao Qiao found Bai Feng and asked him sincerely.
“If you’re bored, go work at Yu Ling Long,” Bai Feng yawned. “But since you’re asking, I’ll give you a couple of requests first—find a few patient Nine-Tailed Foxes among your clan.”
Qiao Qiao blinked rapidly. “Young Master Bai, are you planning to find some fox-eared maidens to serve and rest with you, just like the stories outside? If that’s the case, I think I can—”
“Not quite.” Bai Feng shot a glance at Qiao Qiao, who pretended to be shy. “I’m actually planning to hire some special game customer service reps. Simply put, I need people who can answer players’ questions when they encounter problems, even lend a little help.”
Originally, he intended to find some Nine-Tailed Foxes to be characters rescued in the game plot, but after some thought, he felt it might not be appropriate. Those kinds of roles should ideally be virtual, not linked too closely to reality—lest problems arise.
So he decided to directly use characters from the Spring and Autumn Period. These characters are popular, and it’d boost game publicity, too.
But he wasn’t planning to abandon the Nine-Tailed Foxes entirely. They could serve as semi-NPCs within the game, helping answer questions and guide players. After all, no one in this world had ever experienced online gaming. Surely, players would have plenty of questions during play.
When Qiao Qiao heard it’s about teaching people to play the game, she immediately lost interest, but she still nodded seriously. “Got it. I’ll select some tribesmen who meet Young Master Bai’s requirements.”
“Oh, by the way,” Bai Feng suddenly remembered he forgot to sweeten the deal, “If any of your tribesmen have excellent Array talent, they can come to Heavenly Sword Sect. Just pass the assessment, and they can enter the Array Peak for training.”
“Then I thank Young Master Bai here,” Qiao Qiao’s face lit up with joy. She had spent some days in Heavenly Sword Sect and clearly understood how different it was from her Monster Tribe. Sending talented youngsters to train there was definitely better than practicing in their home cave.
“Alright, anything else?”
“I do have another matter to ask Young Master Bai,” Qiao Qiao nodded, subtly leaning closer to Bai Feng with a hint of anticipation. “Could you help guide my Charm Art once more?”
Bai Feng nodded without refusal. “That’s no problem. How’s your Charm Art practice going? Any improvement compared to before?”
“I think I’ve improved quite a lot,” Qiao Qiao said proudly, a smile of pride on her face. “Thanks to your guidance before, my progress was pretty quick. Want to try it yourself?”
“I’m already at the Refinement Stage now.”
“No worries, actually, that makes it easier to feel my improvement,” Qiao Qiao waved her hand.
Seeing her persistence, Bai Feng decided not to refuse. “Alright, if you say so, I’ll personally check how much you’ve improved compared to before.”
“Many thanks, Young Master Bai.”
Qiao Qiao’s smile faded slightly, and her Spirit Power began to circulate within her. Her slightly elongated eyes flickered with a faint pink glow.
Her eyes resembled a swirling vortex— irresistibly drawing people to gaze into them, unable to look away and sink in.
Bai Feng was unaffected. He had already learned to counter Qiao Qiao’s Charm Art before, and now with his substantial illusion techniques and cultivation reaching the Refinement Stage, he was confident.
‘Her progress is clear. Looks like Qiao Qiao isn’t as lazy as she acts.’
Bai Feng quietly nodded, deciding to go easy on her.
He took a step forward, raising his right hand to gently tap her forehead with a finger.
“Mm…”
The faint pink glow in Qiao Qiao’s eyes instantly dissipated, her legs went weak, and she knelt on the ground.
“Huff huff…”
She panted softly, then slowly lifted her head to look at Bai Feng, her heart pounding wildly.
“Are you okay?”
Bai Feng bent down and extended a hand to her, though a little puzzled—he was quite sure he just countered her charm slightly, so her reaction shouldn’t have been so dramatic.
But Qiao Qiao didn’t grab his hand; she kept staring at him. Unexpectedly, several tails had slipped out from behind her, flicking and swaying, with one slowly reaching out as if to wrap around his wrist.
Bai Feng: “?”
Did he accidentally use a little too much force in countering? Or was Qiao Qiao just joking around?
“Hehe, Young Master Bai…”
Qiao Qiao suddenly reached out with a tiny hand, grabbing his right hand, her slender fingers slipping between his and clutching tightly.
Bai Feng tried to pull back but in the next moment, Qiao Qiao was like a delicate dandelion puff, being ‘pulled’ up and then tumbling onto him.
“Young Master Bai~”
Her voice was much softer than usual, trembling with a hint of fear and shyness. Combined with her charming tone, it almost made one want to hold her tight.
Bai Feng hesitated briefly. Though she hadn’t used Charm Art, her sweet voice still seemed tinged with its influence, making his heart itch.
He instinctively looked down only to see Qiao Qiao raising her head — her shy eyes now covered with a pink hue.
This, clearly, was her true “killer move.”
Bai Feng was stunned for a moment, then slowly raised his left hand, gently placing it on her small face.
“Young Master Bai…”
At that moment, Qiao Qiao’s mouth curled into a barely perceptible arc—after all her practice, she finally managed to turn the tables a little with her Charm Art.
But then Bai Feng suddenly raised his left hand and tapped her head.
“Mm!!”
The pink glow in Qiao Qiao’s eyes vanished instantly. Her eyes became vacant, and her grip on Bai Feng’s right hand slackened.
Bai Feng’s lips curled into a smile as he praised, “Not bad, not bad. You figured out how to catch me off guard by using skills outside of Charm Art while I was focused on it. If I hadn’t reached the Refinement Stage, I might really have been affected.”
“Young Master Bai…”
But Qiao Qiao seemed not to hear him. Her body, as if devoid of strength, leaned against Bai Feng’s chest. Then she raised her seemingly powerless hand, clutching his clothes tightly.
Slowly lifting her head, she revealed her empty eyes, her lips still curved into a satisfied smile. She hugged Bai Feng tightly, her breathing gradually becoming heavier, repeatedly murmuring: “Young Master Bai, Young Master Bai, Young Master Bai…”
“…Oh no!”
Thinking solely about countering and forgetting to hold back, she overdid it!
“Brother, did we have breakfast today…”
As Bai Yu Mo just stepped inside, she suddenly halted, eyes fixed on Qiao Qiao, who was pressed against Bai Feng’s chest, rubbing and hugging him. Without hesitation, she drew her long sword from her waistband.
