Chapter 441: Bai Feng: Time to Work Twice as Hard
“Stop, Yu Mo, don’t cause trouble for now.”
Bai Feng let out a sigh and reached out to tap Qiao Qiao’s forehead again. The next second, a glimmer of clarity appeared in her eyes. She slowed her movements slightly but didn’t let go of him.
“Fortunately, at least she hasn’t fully sunk into it, or else it’d be a real problem.”
He placed his hand on Qiao Qiao’s head, protecting that fragile thread of lucidity, then released his divine consciousness to forcibly disperse the enchantment’s lingering effects on her.
“Hmm!”
Qiao Qiao muffled a sound, feeling like a giant hammer had just slammed into her brain. She almost fainted.
She instinctively rubbed her head, feeling something was off—what on earth had she just done?
She then lifted her head to look at Bai Feng, her heart pounding fiercely. She clenched her legs tightly and slowly sank onto the ground.
“Let me help you sit on the sofa first.”
Bai Feng reached out, but Yu Mo sidestepped his hand. She lowered her head, clutching her chest with one hand. “Please, Young Master Bai, stay… stay away from me… or I might lose control of myself…”
“That might be a bit difficult,” he said, glancing at the wrist wrapped with multiple tails. “You need to loosen your tails first if you want me to be free.”
“Um, Young Master Bai,” Qiao Qiao averted her gaze, voice softly protesting, “You should know that a fox’s tail has a mind of its own. I can’t really control it.”
“I’ve never heard of foxes having such strange settings,” Bai Feng muttered with a hint of sarcasm but took a step back nonetheless. He then told the sullen Bai Yu Mo, “Yu Mo, lend a hand—she’s under the influence of the charm, help her get to the sofa, will you?”
“Oh, okay.”
Yu Mo nodded and walked over to Qiao Qiao, grabbing her underarm and helping her onto the sofa.
Bai Feng: “…”
Fine. Anyway, at least she’s on the sofa now.
“Qiao Qiao, stay here and rest. I’ll be leaving for a bit.”
“Mm, Young Master Bai, take care.”
Qiao Qiao lowered her head, dare not look at Bai Feng. Though he had awakened her from the enchantment, her deep entanglement meant she still felt residual effects even after regaining consciousness.
Bai Feng waved to Yu Mo, and the two quickly left the room.
Qiao Qiao looked at the door, which was firmly shut, then slowly let out a breath and flopped onto the sofa.
“So ashamed…”
She muttered, wanting to close her eyes for a rest, but her mind kept flashing Bai Feng’s figure.
After a moment, she opened her eyes again, her mind still clouded by the charm’s residual influence, dominated by thoughts of Bai Feng.
“Maybe I should just play on the forum for a while.”
She slowly sat up and leaned back on the cushion, opening her communicator and placing her hands on her knees. But the forum, which used to be so interesting, now felt a bit dull.
Browsing a few more posts, she logged out and subconsciously focused on the pigeon letter—then, inexplicably, clicked on Bai Feng’s avatar. That pair of feet wrapped in black silk, lying on the sofa, suddenly tensed up and curled nervously.
After hesitating a moment, she finally clicked in.
Meanwhile.
“Basically, that’s the situation,” Bai Feng picked up a piece of meat, put it in his mouth, and briefly recounted the charm incident involving Qiao Qiao.
“Isn’t that a bit risky?” Bai Yu Mo murmured softly, bowing her head.
“This time’s an exception,” Bai Feng laughed at the memory of Qiao Qiao’s earlier misadventure. “Just giving pointers on charm magic generally doesn’t need to be so intense.” He paused, then added with a smile, “And I guess Qiao Qiao probably won’t dare to do that again—she’ll likely steer clear of me for the next few days.”
Because this time was definitely not the same as last time—the last time he countered her charm, she didn’t suffer such strong aftereffects. If anything, it might’ve even left a psychological shadow.
“Hmm…” Bai Yu Mo nodded. She then picked up some food with her chopsticks and served Bai Feng some. “Brother, eat more.”
As Bai Feng continued his meal, he felt his communicator buzz repeatedly. He pulled it out and took a look, noticing it was actually Qiao Qiao sending a message.
Qiao Qiao: Young Master Bai, after I recover, can you still teach me charm magic?
Bai Feng: Don’t worry. Since I said I’ll guide you, I won’t give up halfway.
Qiao Qiao: Young Master Bai is so reliable. I really don’t know how to thank you.
Bai Feng: Just work hard.
Qiao Qiao: But that’s what I should do. I mean, apart from what I “should” do, how else could I thank you, Young Master Bai?
Bai Feng: Then work twice as hard.
Qiao Qiao: …
Seeing Bai Feng’s reply, Qiao Qiao didn’t know what to say, only feeling it was very in his style. But as long as Bai Feng was willing to keep guiding her, that was enough.
—
“Not really feeling it. Not as good as Chunqiu and Senior Brother Bai’s drawings.”
Shui Miao Miao flipped through some pages of her newly bought book and then lazily tossed it aside.
Thanks to Chunqiu’s popularity, many artists shifted to learning his style. Some learned quite well, but she still felt their work paled in comparison to Chunqiu and Bai Senior Brother’s art. And her drawings, frankly, were more provocative.
“I should go ask Bai Senior Brother for advice,” she sighed. Her attempt this time was totally a failure.
The reason she came out with Bai Feng in the first place was pretty much the same as she’d said before—since she didn’t have many things to do and heard Bai Feng was returning to the Bai family, she shamelessly tagged along for some inspiration.
Moments later, Shui Miao Miao saw Yu Su Rong Rong supporting a somewhat disoriented Qiao Qiao coming out of Bai Feng’s room. Her head was topped with a giant question mark—what exactly did that fox spirit do in Bai Senior Brother’s room?
Thinking this, she hurried in: “Bai Senior Brother, you’re… okay, right?”
“What could possibly happen to me?” Bai Feng put down the array diagram, looking puzzled at Shui Miao Miao, who had rushed in—was she overthinking something again?
“Huh?”
Shui Miao Miao approached him, examining him closely. She quickly realized Bai Feng’s clothes were pristine and no sweat was evident—no, wait! Bai Feng’s cultivation level should’ve prevented him from sweating during that kind of activity, right?
But if so, then the mingling of sweat and the intense scenes would be all gone, wouldn’t it?
Bai Feng looked at Shui Miao Miao, appearing more confused as if she had been struck. What exactly was she imagining?
Perceiving Bai Feng’s gaze, Shui Miao Miao snapped out of her fantasy, hurriedly slapped her cheeks, and forced herself to appear serious. “Uh, I just saw Qiao Qiao coming out of your room, and she looked a bit off…”
“Well, she was practicing charm magic with me, and I overpowered her, but I forgot to hold back, so she’s got a slight aftereffect. She’ll be fine after resting a few days.”
She nodded, but suddenly her eyes widened in shock. “Oh… huh???”
