Chapter 444: “Senior Sister, Calm Down! We’re Still on the Street!”
“Young Master Bai, does this look okay?”
You Su Rong Rong handed a stack of files to Bai Feng. Bai Feng picked them up, flipping through a few pages filled with recommendations for game staff and suggestions for various positions.
“Hmm, not bad,” he nodded. As expected, compared to clever Qiao Qiao, You Su Rong Rong is a bit more reliable. “Just follow what’s on there. You manage things; I can rest assured. If you run into any problems, just tell me.”
“Yes.”
You Su Rong Rong quickly responded, but inside she let out a sigh of relief.
Unlike Qiao Qiao, she’s a member of the You Su clan, who only joined after being chased here. She was forced into submission, with little choice. Naturally, she doesn’t command the same respect as someone who joined the Qing Qiu clan from the start. So she has to work extra hard to prove her and her clan’s worth to Bai Feng, lest they get ignored, marginalized, or outright abandoned.
Luckily, with Qiao Qiao’s help, she’s been reporting on the Nine-Tails Fox’s tasks to Bai Feng lately. Their relationship isn’t bad, and she’s pretty familiar with the work—so she’s not completely clueless.
Bai Feng put down the personnel info he was holding and looked at You Su Rong Rong, who was now dressed in a long robe again. After getting used to the OL outfit, seeing her in a robe felt kind of odd.
You Su Rong Rong sensed Bai Feng’s gaze and tensed up. “Young Master Bai, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, I just haven’t seen you in a robe for a while. It feels a little strange.” Bai Feng shook his head.
“Does Young Master Bai prefer I wear the previous outfit?”
He nodded. “You could say that. That outfit suited you quite well.”
Her serious and stern personality in the OL uniform looked like a typical secretary—equally formal and strict. If Qiao Qiao wore it, it might look more like a cute role-playing game between lovers.
“Then I’ll change back next time.”
You Su Rong Rong slightly averted her gaze, playing with her hanging hair instinctively.
Seems like Qiao Qiao wasn’t wrong; Young Master Bai really does like that kind of outfit. She found it a bit embarrassing but was willing to put her shame aside for the survival of her clan.
“Oh, by the way, how is Qiao Qiao? Is she better now?” Bai Feng suddenly remembered and asked.
“Much better. Yesterday, she saw your image in the Image Retainer, and her expression wasn’t so vacant anymore.”
“That’s good.”
He nodded. If that incident left Qiao Qiao with any long-lasting trauma, he’d feel a bit guilty.
Just then, the door was suddenly pushed open. “Little Junior Brother… Huh? Rong Rong’s here too?”
“Um, please just call me You Su. At least, call my full name…” You Su Rong Rong weakly rebutted.
“Alright, Rong Rong, you can go back first. Contact me through the communicator if anything comes up.”
“You, too, Young Master Bai, please call my full name…” she weakly countered again, feeling helpless.
Bai Feng nodded. “Understood, Rong Rong.”
She finally gave up correcting their way of address. “Then I’ll leave first.”
“Go slowly.”
After You Su Rong Rong left, Bai Feng turned his gaze to Yu Yao, who had sneaked over and was close to him.
“Senior Sister, is there something you wanted to see me about?”
“It’s nothing much. Just wanted to see what little Junior Brother is up to,” Yu Yao giggled, pulling out some freshly baked snacks from her storage pouch. “I brought some treats. Let’s eat together.”
“Well, I won’t refuse.”
Bai Feng sat back in his chair and took a piece of pumpkin cake made with glutinous rice flour, slowly savoring it. Yu Yao plopped herself down beside him, standing on tiptoe to sit on a chair and munching on the snacks on the table.
After about ten minutes…
Bai Feng glanced sideways at Yu Yao, who was leaning on him, eating her snack. “You really came just for afternoon tea, huh?”
“Senior Sister, do I seem like I only visit when I have a problem?”
Bai Feng pondered for a few seconds, then nodded. “That’s true.”
Yu Yao immediately retorted loudly, then her voice softened again. “I don’t always come just because I have a problem, you know?”
Like… um… maybe…
Yu Yao slowly curled up.
Bai Feng looked at her bundled-up form and snickered, lifting her onto his lap. “Alright, alright, keep eating your snacks. We have to redo the array formation after this!”
“Speaking of which, it seems like you’ve been working on this formation for a long time, huh?” Yu Yao lifted her chin, gazing at Bai Feng. “Just a shop’s formation can be this complicated?”
“Actually, I was experimenting with some new stuff. It’s almost done today. I’ll show you in a bit.”
“Yay!”
Yu Yao looked a bit excited.
Half an hour later…
Yu Yao stared at a huge black ‘screen’ mounted on a towering building, her expression a bit blank—what is this thing? Where’s my Yu Ling Long badge?
“Pretty cool, huh?”
Bai Feng was pretty satisfied with the big ‘screen’ in front of him. To fit it, he raised Yu Ling Long slightly and added some wooden decorations to make it blend with the surrounding illusion.
Though it had flaws—like it being a bit too tall compared to the nearby buildings, making it stand out, and the fact that when it’s off, it looks a little empty overall, he was quite pleased.
“What’s this?” Yu Yao reached out and pointed at the black ‘screen’ with a confused look. “This thing looks kind of ugly, doesn’t it?”
“Don’t worry, I haven’t activated the array yet!”
Bai Feng snapped his fingers. Instantly, the screen lit up.
First, the words ‘Yu Ling Long’ appeared, then a few seconds later, it played a promotional video for the project You Yue Qing shot with the Image Retainer. Since he didn’t have a better video, he just used this one for now.
Yu Yao gazed at the lit-up giant screen, slightly opening her little mouth.
Bai Feng’s design made this screen look three-dimensional, as if the characters in the ad were right in front of them.
As the ad played, passersby on the street stopped in awe, and because Bai Feng raised Yu Ling Long higher, even people beyond the street’s end looked over at the display.
“Senior Sister, how about it? Not bad, right?”
Hearing Bai Feng’s question, Yu Yao turned her neck to look at him.
The next second, she threw herself onto him. “Little Junior Brother, you’re a genius! I take back what I said earlier—this screen doesn’t look ugly at all! It’s awesome!! What reward do you want? I, your senior sister, will give you anything!”
“Senior Sister, calm down! We’re still on the street!”
