Chapter 446: Ling Lan Feels Like She’s Already Ate Her Fill
Bai Feng first chuckled awkwardly, then suddenly remembered something. He looked at Bai Tian You and asked, “By the way, Dad, now that we’re in the Refinement Stage, can you tell us about Yu Mo’s background?”
“Don’t you already know?” Bai Tian You shook his head. “If you hadn’t written me that letter before, I wouldn’t even know she has another daughter still alive.”
“I mainly want to ask if there’s anything else secretive going on.”
Bai Tian You watched Bai Feng’s earnest look and couldn’t help but chuckle. “I knew you weren’t so innocent, but if you want to do something big, wait until you reach the Merging Stage. The Siku Family in the Central Continent isn’t some small family—they have more sleeping ancestors than we have white family members, and they’re basically the big bosses in Central Continent. Taking them on isn’t exactly a walk in the park.”
“I understand. Without full confidence, I won’t act impulsively,” Bai Feng nodded seriously.
“Good, good. But unfortunately, your old man doesn’t know everything secret,” Bai Tian You sighed. “Ever since I returned home from traveling with Uncle Yun and Yu Mo’s father—thanks to the distance and me becoming the head of the Bai Family—I’ve had less contact with them. If it weren’t for him bringing Yu Mo here to ask me to take in her daughter, I wouldn’t even know their family went through that kind of thing.”
He clenched his fists and hammered the armrest of his chair. “Sadly, my strength isn’t enough. Our Bai Family only has some influence in the Northern Region. Our actions are limited. Uncle Yun also wants to do something, but the Siku Family is just too big. The Yun Family isn’t willing to provoke them, and he can only follow the family’s advice, which ultimately made him go back empty-handed.”
Bai Feng contemplatively nodded—no wonder his father was so angry when Yu Mo’s bone-removal incident happened.
He had anticipated this—if their relationship weren’t genuine, there’s no way they’d entrust Yu Mo, who possesses the Celestial Bone, to his father’s care.
“Ah, I’ve said too much,” Bai Tian You let out a sigh and shook his head. “Just take good care of Yu Mo. Don’t bully her. And don’t rush into revenge. You and Yu Mo are still young—you’ve got plenty of time to go far. No need to risk it now by going after them.”
“Rest assured, I won’t be reckless,” Bai Feng promised.
…
“All my matters are settled on my side. It’s about time I head back to the sect. If you encounter any problems, just contact me through the communicator or find me at Heavenly Sword Sect.”
Bai Feng told Qiao Qiao and You Su Rong Rong.
“Mm, Young Master Bai, safe travels.” Qiao Qiao nodded. Ever since she’d been influenced by demonic tricks—though she had been cured now—the effect still lingered, and she appeared much more obedient in front of Bai Feng.
Probably she’d never dare use demonic tricks on him again.
“Oh, right, where’s Ling Lan?” Bai Feng looked around. Usually, this dove would be with Qiao Qiao. Why was she nowhere to be seen today?
“I don’t know. I didn’t see her today either,” Qiao Qiao shook her head. “Maybe she saw something interesting and ran off to play?”
“Forget it, I don’t really have anything to tell her anyway,” Bai Feng wasn’t too concerned. He then turned to You Su Rong Rong. “Rong Rong, I’ll leave the matter to you. With you handling things, I can rest easier.”
“Mm, I’ll do my best,” You Su Rong Rong nodded. Then she quietly added, “Also, please call me You Su Er when you address me, Young Master Bai.”
“Understood…” Under her intense gaze, Bai Feng chuckled softly and didn’t joke anymore. “You Su Rong Rong.”
After giving a few more instructions, he stepped into the flying boat, ready to head to Heavenly Sword Sect.
“This trip turned out pretty smoothly,” he sighed contentedly, leaning back on the soft cushion.
In the past, nearly every trip he took involved some trouble—this time, nothing unexpected happened, and he found himself a bit out of practice.
But given the current situation, more surprises were unlikely. The devilish powers in the Northern Region had been shattered, the Divine Monarch of Central Continent was lurking in hiding after the d*ath of a merging-stage powerhouse, and most of the Child of Destiny kept getting distracted by secret realms popping up, fighting over resources with small and medium forces.
“Cuckoo~”
Suddenly, a white shadow darted from the corner of the flying boat and leapt into his arms.
Bai Feng calmly watched the dove, which kept nuzzling his fingers, appearing completely unbothered.
No wonder he hadn’t seen Ling Lan—turns out she slipped onto the boat secretly.
He wondered if she still thought he didn’t recognize her.
Seeing how affectionate the dove was, Bai Feng could tell that Ling Lan was probably convinced he didn’t suspect her identity.
But he had no intention of revealing the truth—if he did, she wouldn’t be so clingy anymore.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out some popcorn, gently scratching the dove’s head with his fingers.
“Brother, where’s this dove from?” Bai Yu Mo approached and asked puzzled, eyeing the dove in Bai Feng’s hand.
Bai Feng shook his head casually. “Maybe it flew in this morning by accident?”
“Is that so?” Bai Yu Mo looked suspicious. She thought this dove was probably no ordinary bird. After all, the Heavenly Sword Sect’s flying boats weren’t exactly easy to sneak onto—regular pigeons couldn’t get in, for sure.
Her mind raced back to this morning when she left and didn’t see Ling Lan. Plus, this dove seemed to really love popcorn, which only solidified her suspicion.
But why would Ling Lan disguise herself as an ordinary pigeon to get close to Bai Feng?
Bai Yu Mo was confused. Could it be that the Silver-Winged Dove was secretly instructing Ling Lan? Do pigeons have that much brain power?
Just then, Bai Feng cut in, “Yu Mo, is there something wrong?”
“Not really,” Bai Yu Mo shook her head and then sat beside Bai Feng. Her gaze lowered slightly. “Just wanted to stay with you a little longer.”
“You make it sound like we’re going to be apart soon,” Bai Feng chuckled, ruffling her hair. “But this time, we’re going back together. The past is the past. Don’t overthink it.”
“Mm…” Bai Yu Mo nodded slightly and leaned closer to him.
The pigeon, nearby, withdrew its gaze, looking down at the unfinished popcorn. She’d only eaten a few pieces, but suddenly, she didn’t feel like eating anymore. She felt like she’d already eaten her fill.
Just as she was about to take the popcorn elsewhere, a hand reached out and stroked her with spiritual power.
“Goo~!”
This time, the patting was much more intense than before. Too much—this was really overwhelming!
Ling Lan struggled to break free, but Bai Feng’s massage was too firm. She couldn’t escape his big hand.
Finally, her eyes went blank, and her mind turned to mush—only then did Bai Feng stop.
“Almost forgot you were here. Sleep well,” he said casually, tossing the dazed Ling Lan onto a soft cushion on a nearby chair. He certainly didn’t want a little lamp post staring at him, which was precisely why he ramped up the massage.
And so, peace returned to the flying boat.
