Chapter 468: Little Jiu: This is *my* spot! You damned fox spirit!
“Only the second one?” The fox on the table looked a bit displeased. “Forget it, I won’t bother asking who’s first.”
She guessed quite accurately—after all, her bloodline had been diluted so much that her Nine-Tailed Fox powers weren’t exactly top-tier anymore. Compared to Little Jiu, she was a poser.
“So, Qiao Qiao, how come you look like a fox now?”
Bai Feng stroked her tail as he asked.
“Because I figured Sir Bai would prefer this look.” Qiao Qiao happily tangled several tails around him, letting Bai Feng enjoy the fluffy sensation all around.
“It’s not so much liking, more like I won’t feel weird touching you if you look like a fox,” she added breezily.
Bai Feng ruffled her head, causing her to squint comfortably.
“If Sir Bai likes it so much, I’ll keep doing this for you from now on.”
“That sounds kinda weird,” Bai Feng casually teased.
Admittedly, her touch wasn’t as comfy as Little Jiu’s, but the feedback Qiao Qiao gave was something Little Jiu couldn’t match. Besides, Little Jiu only reacted when her ears were touched—other than that, she was pretty much aloof.
“So, I have a question,” Bai Feng casually scooped Qiao Qiao up and stroked her fur gently. “Y’all usually use humanoid forms in the clan, or fox forms?”
“Mostly humanoid after transformation—more convenient. Though some prefer beast forms,” Qiao Qiao relaxed in Bai Feng’s arms. “Me and Su Jie tend to lean toward human appearances. But it’s mainly because I like pretty clothes… and Su Jie’s got her reasons too.”
“What reasons?”
Qiao Qiao grinned mischievously. “Haha, Su Jie’s had long fur, look kinda fluffy and round—that’s why she’s nicknamed Rong Rong.”
“Unbelievable…” Bai Feng found it hard to picture Su Su normally, considering her serious, earnest personality made it tough to connect that with the fluffy look.
“If Sir Bai is interested, I can take some photos,” Qiao Qiao’s lips curled into a sly grin. “Sometimes, Su Jie rests on her cushion, looking adorable and furry.”
“…” You’re selling your best friend like this?
Bai Feng glanced down at Qiao Qiao, suspicious she might be still under some spell. He was about to scold her for such rude behavior but… well, her rather fluffy fox form was undeniably cute.
“Just one shot of her resting normally on the cushion, that’s all. No weird stuff,” he said.
“Don’t worry, Sir Bai. Besides, I wouldn’t dare take anything else—you know what would happen if Su Jie found out,” Qiao Qiao said with a brash laugh. She snuggled closer into Bai Feng’s arms, her eyes and movements still carrying that seductive vibe—likely thanks to her charm arts. On some video sites, she’d definitely be trending with comments like “Understand Zhou Wang, Become Zhou Wang, Surpass Zhou Wang.”
Just as Bai Feng wondered whether to keep this charming fox-like Qiao Qiao at a distance, the door suddenly swung open.
“Bai Feng! You’re back? When are you making me that… game…”
Xiao Jiu peeked her head in. She stared at the fox she saw in Bai Feng’s arms and froze. Her mind seemed to grind to a halt.
She looked down first, then raised her gaze at Qiao Qiao. A weird tightness came over her chest. She didn’t think much, but a fiery anger slowly crept into her eyes, her nine tails flicked upright, and her presence turned fierce—a primordial beast awakening.
‘This *d*mn* fox spirit! This is *my* spot!!’
“Um, Sir Bai, I’ll go ask Su Jie for help first. I’ll contact you later!” Qiao Qiao suddenly looked guilty, lowering her head like a caught little… *ahem*.
In truth, she found Xiao Jiu’s stare a little intimidating. She swiftly jumped out of Bai Feng’s lap and rushed out of the room, vanishing in a flash.
“Why’d she run so fast?”
Bai Feng was confused. He looked down at Xiao Jiu again; she was actually running toward him.
Before he could say anything, Xiao Jiu jumped straight onto his legs and nestled into his arms, purring.
“What’s wrong?” Bai Feng found her strange. She looked less lively than usual.
He reached out to pet her, but she not only didn’t resist—she tilted her head and rubbed against his palm happily.
Wait… That’s weird!
Did touching Qiao Qiao just now trigger her?
He hesitated to ask, feeling it might be better not to dig into her mood.
After a while, Xiao Jiu seemed calmer. He continued working on the game. Suddenly, she made a dissatisfied humm, prompting him to look at her again and put his hand back. Xiao Jiu obediently laid her head on his lap to enjoy the petting.
But every time he raised his hand, she’d lift her head with a dissatisfied sound.
“…I’m making a game for you,” Bai Feng sighed helplessly.
Xiao Jiu remained indifferent to the game, only protesting with her sounds when he lifted his hand.
“Oh no, she’s really upset now. Even games can’t distract her,” Bai Feng realized.
He remembered Xiao Jiu had never disliked being touched before, nor when he pet Xiaoxue. Could it be because Xiaoxue is a cat, not a fox?
He was puzzled about what exactly Xiao Jiu cared about.
Fortunately, Xiao Jiu didn’t keep bothering him. After a moment, she stayed lying on his lap but no longer interfered with his work.
Just as he thought her mood had settled…
Night fell.
Bai Feng returned to his bedroom, preparing to rest.
“Xiao Jiu’s probably back to normal,” he thought. She had eaten plenty of fox food at dinner, aside from less chatter, everything seemed fine. She vanished after dinner, likely back to her usual game spot.
It seemed she had a little temper, but not serious. Maybe tomorrow he’d get her some of her favorite fox food flavors.
As Bai Feng settled into bed and pulled the covers over him, he suddenly noticed how warm the bed felt—it was like someone had been there ahead of him…
He stopped moving, then slipped his hand under the covers and pulled out a white fox.
“Xiao Jiu, you’re not sleeping in your own room? What are you doing in my bed?”
