Chapter 489: k*ll These Monster Beasts and Take Down Everyone Obstructing Brother!
“Just as I suspected, these disciples are terrible at city defense.”
Bai Feng watched the scene transmitted from the virtual training, shaking his head with a sigh.
Sure, the Heavenly Sword Sect’s disciples aren’t weak, but defending a city and chasing down demon cultivators in secret realms are two totally different games — one calls for teamwork, not just rushing in like headless chickens.
If not for the Sect Master insisting on joining the Southern Region’s chaos, these guys would probably never see what a city defense looks like in their whole lives.
But hey, knowledge isn’t bad, right? Better they see the big picture now; who knows, maybe someday they’ll actually need this stuff.
“Little Seven seems to be in danger.”
Just then, Tian Yan, who’d been cozily cultivating in Bai Feng’s arms, suddenly spoke up.
Bai Feng looked up and saw the Heavenly Sword Sect disciples had already been pushed inside the city walls. Those pesky monster beasts seized the opportunity, ripped open a secret passage big enough for a Transformation God stage monster to squeeze through, and poured into the city, clearly planning to sabotage the Formation from the inside — way easier than smashing through the outer walls.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A few bursts of intense spiritual power later, several monsters collapsed altogether, incapable of getting back up. The rest of the beasts caught sight of Little Seven on the wall and started dividing their forces — some charging straight at her, looking like they wanted to take her out for good since she was so good at sniping from a distance.
“But don’t worry about just these.” Bai Feng kept a relaxed expression. These days, Little Seven’s strength has skyrocketed.
As he predicted, before the others could even set up a proper defense, Little Seven sheathed her enormous weapon (longer than she was tall) and drew a short sword from her waistband, charging right into the monsters.
What followed was a slaughter one-sided enough to make even a butcher proud. The monsters were countless, but in the big formation they were all being suppressed. Plus, Little Seven’s power wasn’t what it used to be — these monsters couldn’t keep up with her at all.
She darted through the monsters like a white flash, easily stabbing their vital points with her short sword. The monsters couldn’t follow her speed, and even if multiple attacked at once, she calmly pulled out portable arrays or smaller weapons to block or counterattack.
“Ha… ha…”
Little Seven stood on the bodies of dead monsters, panting hard — not from exhaustion, but from the thrill rushing through her veins.
Earlier, in the virtual training, as a killer, she’d be quick to eliminate targets — but never slaughtered as many enemies as today. Her heart pounded with an excitement she’d never known.
Taking deep breaths to suppress her violent urges, she looked towards the city.
Though the Heavenly Sword Sect disciples performed poorly early on — barely holding the city line before being pushed back — they quickly recovered. With their much stronger overall strength, they managed to push the monsters back towards the hole in the formation.
Seeing this, Little Seven didn’t hesitate. She re-aimed her g*n, firing at any monster crawling out of the breach.
It wasn’t that she liked the new weapon — but she found that using this distant attack device dulled her inner excitement a little, helping her keep her emotions and desires in check.
Meanwhile, Bai Feng watched the virtual scene play out, but his face didn’t look particularly relieved.
“If it’s just like this, they’re probably going to lose,” Tian Yan added with a frown.
“Considering it’s their first time fighting like this,” Bai Feng nodded slightly. The bl**d Snake Clan wasn’t just at this level — otherwise they wouldn’t have forced other monster tribes into an alliance.
Plus, to keep things real, the Heavenly Sword Sect disciples could revive — but only three times. Past that, they’d be forced to exit the battlefield, making them extremely cautious and careful with their lives.
As predicted, with more and more disciples wounded and dying and no fresh replacements coming, the defense finally started to falter.
A bl**d Snake (full Transformation God stage) burst out from a breach in the formation, wielding its beastly strength to slam at the city. Though it was eventually slain, it broke the fragile formation line. Other monsters seized the opportunity and flowed out of the breach nonstop.
“It looks like it’s over, but it’s better than I thought,” Bai Feng muttered, lightly shaking his head. He didn’t really expect these disciples to hold back the bl**d snake tribe’s assault — defending a city isn’t their forte. His main goal was to give them a solid understanding of war in the Southern Region to prevent future mishaps if they ever go there on a support mission.
“No, it’s not over.”
Tian Yan had stopped cultivating. Her eyes remained fixed on the virtual scene, unblinking.
Little Seven had already charged down the wall when the formation broke, moving like a streak of white light weaving through the monsters. She discarded all her portable arrays and slaughtered her way inside.
“One, two, three…”
She murmured softly, her originally light-colored pupils suddenly seeping into a crimson ink-like hue, spreading rapidly in her eyes.
When the rational bl**d Snakes responded, Little Seven already had a trail of slain monsters around her, and her power seemed to grow stronger with each k*ll.
The bl**d Snakes, sensing her ferocity, quickly commanded the remaining monsters to attack her en masse, aiming to wear her down with numbers. But Little Seven’s stamina seemed endless; under the suppression of the arrays, these unthinking monsters couldn’t touch her.
Suddenly, a crimson snake burst up from a monster’s corpse, sharp fangs bared as it lunged at Little Seven—only for her to turn her head, flick her wrist, and send a flying short sword straight into its head. The snake was knocked back, pinned to the wall.
The impaled snake struggled, twisting desperately — but it was horrified to find itself unable to free itself from the simple short sword. The sword emanated a faint red spiritual energy, constantly eating away at its body, growing stronger with each second.
“What the heck is this thing?”
Before it could figure out what was happening, a white figure flashed past, and its head was instantly severed.
“Which… number is this now?” Little Seven gasped, catching her breath. She shook her head, wiping bl**d and dirt from her face as she looked over the battlefield. The Heavenly Sword Sect disciples had regrouped, even piled up a huge array fortress blocking the breach. The monsters and disciples seemed to keep their distance from her, fitting with the unspoken tacit understanding.
“Keep going… no, stop…” Her head spun. The sensation of dizziness crept in. She’d lost count after a while — continued fighting hard might push her over the edge into losing her mind.
“I have to… leave.”
She reached out instinctively, grabbing the short sword on the wall, but a voice echoed in her mind, urging her:
k*ll these monsters. Take out everyone blocking Brother!
No, this isn’t right… Brother wouldn’t like her like this…
“Little Seven, wake up.”
A gentle voice broke her free from the chaos. She looked up to see Bai Feng, concerned, standing before her. She sniffled, and a strange calm washed over her. The killing urge vanished in an instant. Without hesitation, she reached out and hugged him tightly.
