### Chapter 507: I Won’t Let You Out of My Sight
“Darling, let’s go check that out over there!”
Yun Yue Yao threw her arms around Bai Feng’s arm, pointing ahead at what looked like a garden.
Not to be outdone, Bai Yu Mo hopped in and grabbed his other arm, while the quiet Little Qi looked up at the two of them. In the past, she would have shyly followed along, keeping her head down, but now she quickly sped up to catch up with Bai Feng, tugging at his clothes from behind to signal her discontent.
Bai Feng: “…”
I should have only brought one person.
He sighed and pulled his arms free from their clutches. “Alright, if you both keep holding onto me, I’m going to have trouble walking.”
“Then how about you carry me, darling?” Yun Yue Yao snuggled closer, “That way, we won’t have three people fighting over two arms.”
“…That’s even weirder.” Just the thought of it seemed ridiculous; he shook his head. “Let’s check out over there first. If you see something you like, go ahead and ask.”
Suddenly, Yun Yue Yao reached out and grabbed his wrist. “I like this! How much is it?”
“Cut it out.” Bai Feng lightheartedly knocked on her head.
But Yun Yue Yao didn’t let go; instead, she changed to holding onto his clothes. “I don’t care if it’s not for sale. I’ve set my sights on you, and I won’t let you out of my sight for even a second.”
“…”
Bai Feng couldn’t shake the feeling that Yun Yue Yao was acting a bit strange. Sure, she loved to cling to him, but typically she didn’t show it so directly in public.
After pondering for a moment, he recalled that in the future Yun Yue Yao had ‘seen’, his demise was tied to separating from Bai Yu Mo while shopping.
“I, too… won’t let you out of my sight.”
Just then, Bai Yu Mo approached, her expression a mix of jealousy and realization—she might have heard something about his potential doom from Yun Yue Yao, or maybe both.
Meanwhile, Little Qi, not fully understanding, joined in.
Seeing things return to the initial chaos of their shopping trip, Bai Feng couldn’t help but complain, “Can we act a little more normal? At least let me walk properly…”
“Yes.”
Even though Yun Yue Yao agreed, she only loosened her grip slightly, as if she feared that if she let go completely, he would vanish.
“…”
Fine, let them be.
An hour later.
Bai Feng emerged from a shop, stashing his prepared gifts into a ring. He’d bought all kinds of Southern Region specialties: fabric and leather for Yu Yao, special fruits for Su Lan Qian, a comb and snacks for Little Jiu, and a feather pen made from the shed feather of a Refinement Stage expert for Shui Miao Miao.
He basically got little gifts for everyone he knew. He had to admit that the Southern Region really had some great stuff at bargain prices, while goods imported from elsewhere were sky-high.
He even spotted ‘Spring and Autumn’ during his shopping spree, and unlike the North Region’s secretive deal, these books were boldly displayed in the store, complete with glittery effects. It almost made him giggle.
Truly, the Southern Region was as refreshingly straightforward as its customs.
Having admired the odd shop’s offerings, he quickly moved along.
“Excuse me, sir! Would you like to buy some flowers?”
At this moment, a little girl suddenly called out to him, holding a basket filled with vividly colored flowers, clutching a red flower that looked a lot like a rose.
“Then I’ll take one… No, make it three.” Bai Feng didn’t refuse; they looked nice. “How much for these flowers?”
“Just six copper coins!” The girl quickly plucked three soft pink flowers from the basket, then handed over the red flower too. “This one’s a gift for you!”
“Thanks!”
Bai Feng smiled and took the four little flowers, but before he could pass over the smallest Spirit Stone on him, he suddenly noticed something odd about one of the flowers.
Instinctively, he pulled the flower the girl had given him. To his surprise, this vibrant red flower gradually transformed into a fist-sized snake eye!
In the next moment, he whipped around to look at the little girl, only to find a hint of a mischievous smirk that didn’t quite fit her innocent appearance.
“Watch out!”
Yun Yue Yao, who had been following Bai Feng, sensed something was off. In an instant, she withdrew her sword and swung it at the girl. But, predictably, the ‘girl’ was ready; the sword missed and hit the ground with a cloud of dust.
Yun Yue Yao quickly scanned ahead, but the ‘girl’ had already vanished.
At the same time, Bai Yu Mo drew her sword and stood beside Bai Feng, while Little Qi dashed a few steps forward, then hesitated and returned—she hadn’t found any trace of the Demon Woman, who seemed to have vanished without a sign left behind.
Bai Feng opened his system and saw the mark he had left on the Demon Woman was racing off into the distance at breakneck speed.
Got too relaxed! Who’d have thought the Demon Woman would still be in this city? Most of his attention had been on the Child of Destiny, so of course he missed her.
“Are you alright?” Yun Yue Yao circled Bai Feng, examining him closely. That’s when she spotted the snake eye he was holding, and her brows instinctively furrowed. “Is this… the remnant of an Immortal that the Demon Woman snatched?”
“Exactly.” Bai Feng nodded, looking at the snake eye in his hand, feeling perplexed about the Demon Woman’s intentions. “But why did she give this to me?”
“I sensed you might need my help.”
At that moment, a calm voice barely above a whisper floated into his ear.
Standing off to the side, Bai Yu Mo narrowed her eyes—sure enough, Tian Yan was hiding out in Bai Feng’s ring.
“You really hit the nail on the head.” Bai Feng held out the snake eye. “The Demon Woman just gifted this to me. Can you figure out what she plans?”
“Demon Woman?”
Tian Yan raised an eyebrow in surprise. Had the jest she made earlier proven true? Was the Demon Woman really going after Bai Feng to infiltrate the Divine Monarch and seize the Immortal’s remains?
But as she focused on the snake eye, she sensed something was off. “Wait a moment, this snake eye… the Spirit Power inside seems to have been drained.”
“The Spirit Power was drained?!”
Bai Feng looked down at the snake eye in his hand. With that observation, he realized it was completely still. He couldn’t even tell it apart from other ordinary snake eyes.
“At least we know why the Demon Woman was after the Immortal’s remains.” Tian Yan stroked her chin thoughtfully. “Though as the inheritor of Qian Mian, what does she intend by sucking the Spirit Power out of the Immortal’s remains?”
“Is it to absorb and merge it to boost her powers?”
Tian Yan shook her head. “That’s not a Spirit Stone; absorbing Spirit Power from an Immortal’s remains can lead to serious problems.”
