Chapter 534: Yun Yue Yao’s “You Know What I’m About to Say” Expression
“Cough! Ha… *huff*!”
A girl with semi-transparent blue eyes suddenly sat up from her bed, gasping for air like she just ran a marathon. Instinctively, she reached out and patted her neck, as if checking whether she still had one.
Her strength was hidden so deep it was terrifying. Honestly, she was a totally scary person.
She thought that if she made a move—even if she couldn’t finish off her opponent—she’d at least scare him. But who knew? The final scare was on her—she got totally spooked instead.
But…
She lifted her head and looked at the long sword hanging on the wall. Hand raised, the sword emitted a sharp sword cry and floated into her grasp.
This time, she used a secret technique from the Divine Monarch, borrowed someone else’s body, and hid her most superb swordsmanship. Together, that’s the only reason she got beaten—by only one sword. If she fought herself, there was no way she’d lose.
“Ruo Er, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
A middle-aged man hurried inside, standing at the bedside, concern etched on his face.
“I’m fine,” the girl, called Ruo Er, shook her head. “Though I didn’t see her this time, I still gained a little.”
Seeing that Ruo Er wasn’t very interested in talking, he relaxed and stroked his beard with a smile. “Was Dad’s effort this time unnecessary? I tell you, Ruo Er, you really should change your personality. Your Celestial Eye is powerful, but you gotta use some hard tactics too. Never get too full of yourself.”
“Mm.”
Ruo Er nodded. But it seemed like she was just giving a perfunctory response. Deep in her mind, she was still thinking about her recent sword clash with Bai Feng—and his terrifying sword intent.
Next time, I will cut you down!
…
‘Where did those women come from?’
He Yi blinked, staring at the unexpected newcomers, utterly confused.
“Big Brother, are you okay?” Little Qi asked, standing beside Bai Feng after taking down the assassin, her voice full of concern.
“I’m fine. Don’t treat me like a fragile scholar—I’m not weaker than any of you,” Bai Feng ruffled her hair.
“Young Master, should I go—”
Zuo Qiu’s words trailed off, but her eyes hinted at m*rder plans. You could tell she was pondering what she wanted to do.
“Not yet. Let them jump around for a few days,” Bai Feng shook his head. Right now, Siku Family had already made a deal with the Divine Monarch—probably prepared for an ambush. Going in blindly would be asking for trouble. Plus, he wanted to give Siku Family a real blow—if they soft-soaked too early, it wouldn’t be fun.
“Turns out, the traces of the Siku Family are wiped clean,” Tian Yan said, looking down at the corpse of the Black-clothed Man.
Bai Feng stepped over to Tian Yan, squatting down to examine the corpse’s glowing blue eyes. “Anything unusual about this guy?”
“Nope,” Tian Yan shook his head. “What’s his story?”
Bai Feng recounted what he discovered before the fight, and her face grew thoughtful. “So, you suspect someone else is behind this? The Divine Monarch indeed has similar secret techniques. Looks like their cooperation might be even deeper than we thought.”
“Guess we have to be extra careful.”
“Yeah, but don’t worry too much,” Tian Yan looked at the unthreatening corpse. “The Divine Monarch doesn’t do lost causes. Besides that guy with the odd eyes, everyone else was just here to make a show. I don’t think the Divine Monarch would be unaware of our strength.”
“True. Those assassins trying to attack us were pretty weak,” Bai Feng nodded. He’d thought that at least some pseudo-Merging Stage assassin would come—maybe even some powerful Refinement Stage ones. But nope, they sent a few sniveling demonic energy-rush mini-wares.
If Tian Yan knew what Bai Feng was thinking, she’d definitely call him out—he was underestimating the Divine Monarch. Merging Stage isn’t just some street-corner punch card; even the Divine Monarch doesn’t have many. Most powerful Refinement Stage expert? Coming to attack was basically like a bunch of cannon fodder—going full send and getting eaten. Only if Bai Feng himself left the Heavenly Sword Sect’s range, away from the protection of Merging Stage cultivators, might there be a chance for Merging Stage fighters to sneak attack.
“Let’s go back first,” Bai Feng glanced at the communicator—since Yu Mo and Yun Yue Yao had flooded it with messages. They didn’t show themselves directly, probably fearing enemies lurking in the dark, so they stayed covert inside their celestial rings, alert for trouble. Messaging was their only way to communicate secretly.
…
“Bai Feng! You finally came back!”
As Bai Feng arrived on the white crane, he saw Hu Yi Yi sitting idly at his door, lost in thought. When she spotted him, she hurriedly stood up, waving eagerly.
“… Here’s your dinner. I’ve got some stuff I need to do next, so eat on your own,” Bai Feng said. He knew exactly what Hu Yi Yi was up to—she was probably waiting outside because she wanted to come in. So he simply handed her a bag of tiger rations.
“Oh!” Hu Yi Yi eagerly snatched the rations and made a beeline for her place. But then, she suddenly stopped, turned around, and said to Bai Feng, “If you need help with anything, just ask me.”
“Got it, got it,” Bai Feng waved. Then he looked towards a slightly distracted He Yi. “This is yours. Don’t overthink it. Just eat first. If you really feel bad, you can train more with us.”
“Thanks.” He Yi Yi took her dinner. “I’ll head out now.”
“Take care,” Bai Feng nodded. When he pushed open the door and stepped inside, two people instantly appeared beside him.
“Brother, you really shouldn’t go out so much,” Bai Yu Mo said with concern. “We were almost attacked by assassins near Heavenly Sword Sect. If you stay farther away, I don’t even want to imagine what the Divine Monarch might send next.”

Yun Yue Yao nodded in agreement. “Exactly. The Divine Monarch might really have been beaten badly in the latest fight, plus the unruly Siku Family. Before we reach the Merging Stage, it’s better not to go out too often.”
“Don’t worry, I value my life even more than you all do,” Bai Feng said with a helpless shrug.
“But we can’t just sit back and be defensive all the time. After all, there’s no such thing as a perfect safety spell,” Yun Yue Yao reached out, stroking her chin. “So, the immediate priority is to increase our strength.”
She then looked up at Bai Feng with a ‘you know what I mean’ expression.
Bai Feng: “…”
Hey, Yu Mo, say something! Oh wait, she also wants to get stronger? Well, that solves everything.
Meanwhile—
“Dinner’s ready!”
Hu Yi Yi couldn’t wait—she ripped open her bag of tiger food and dumped it into her bowl.
After a few bites, she looked over at He Yi, who was poking her rice with chopsticks. “What’s wrong?”
“I feel like I can’t really help much,” He Yi sighed. When they first met, her cultivation was stronger than Bai Feng’s. Now, she’s fallen far behind. Will she still be a worthy mount in her own eyes?
“With Young Master Bai’s skill, we’re already struggling to be useful,” Hu Yi Yi mumbled with a mouth full of meatballs. “Look at that fox who’s glued to her games every day. Not only can’t she help, she’s making Bai Feng spend effort bluffing her into training. But honestly, I think Bai Feng secretly enjoys it. Maybe that’s also a kind of help.”
He Yi’s face flickered with shock—did Hu Yi Yi just start using her head? Does Bai Feng’s meatball recipe have brain-boosting effects too?
But after a few seconds, her face turned contemplative. “Maybe I’ve got a possible angle now.”
