Chapter 539: Some Brothers Have It, Some Brothers Don’t! When It Comes To Such Strong Spirit Beasts, There’s Obviously More Than One!
“Young Master Bai, do you think the game test is good enough like this?”
He Yi Yi, still somehow in beast form, used her head to nudge open the door and asked Bai Feng from inside.
“I thought I told Hu Yi Yi to test it?”
Bai Feng mumbled softly, but he wasn’t too bothered. Probably Hu Yi Yi was too lazy to do it herself, so she handed the game console to He Yi Yi and her crew.
Then he looked over at Bai He walking in: “By the way, why are you in that shape today?”
“Oh, uh, I just swapped out my clothes a bit… and, uh, it’s a little awkward,” He Yi Yi squirmed and looked away shyly.
Bai Feng stroked his chin—he remembered Hu Yi Yi had asked him a few days ago about changing her outfit. She said there were lots of new clothes in the Northern Region. Since she became his mount, she planned to switch to something more fitting for the North’s style.
If Bai Feng recalled correctly, he recommended T-shirts and belt-decorated long pants, right? Honestly, he felt shorts might suit her better, but considering Hu Yi Yi was a monster tribe lady, her ideas were influenced more by Zhongzhou traditions. So he suggested longer pants with less exposure, plus a shirt, a gray-black jacket, and a short skirt for the normal look.
“Mind if I take a look?” Bai Feng grinned. “Maybe I can give you some tips.”
“Sure.”
Hu Yi Yi nodded, and in truth, besides asking Bai Feng for advice, she had also gone to Yu Ling Long to observe for a few days and flipped through her fashion magazine. In the end, she picked the first outfit Bai Feng suggested because she thought that style suited her better.
But once she bought it excitedly, she ran into a problem.
A white mist appeared around her, and once it dispersed, her new outfit was revealed.
White, slim pants hugged her legs—he could vaguely see the contours of her muscles—and as he looked up, he noticed her exposed midriff with defined abs…
Huh? He remembered he suggested a regular T-shirt, not some belly-baring short top?
He kept looking up, puzzled, and then promptly understood what was going on.
Whoa! Were those clothes really that tight? Had she always been that big? Maybe it was the robe? But he remembered when they first met, Hu Yi Yi’s front was pretty flat!
It seemed she noticed Bai Feng’s gaze—she raised her arm to block herself and shyly moved aside: “That’s because of this, my clothes might be a bit small for me.”
“Yeah, no kidding,” Bai Feng nodded seriously. “You should size up. Maybe check out the sweatshirts Yu Ling Long’s been selling recently—they’d probably fit your current shape better.”
“Got it,” Hu Yi Yi nodded, her expression turning serious.
Bai Feng hesitated for a few seconds but finally asked with a bit of piqued curiosity: “By the way, when we first met, you weren’t this… prominent, right?”
“I just used some fabric to restrain myself back then,” Hu Yi Yi whispered.
‘Can fabric really hide that much? Or are the restraining fabrics some kind of magical tool too?’
Bai Feng internally scoffed. But since this was a world with spiritual energy where cultivating was a thing, maybe there was some secret technique to hide ‘ferocity’!
He decided not to linger on the awkward topic and instead asked, “Oh right, you tested the game for me, right? Think there’s anything that needs fixing?”
Hu Yi Yi snapped back to seriousness, thinking for a few seconds before shaking her head: “Nope. I think the game’s pretty fun. But if it’s sold in the Southern Region, it might cause issues.”
“Don’t worry about that,” Bai Feng said calmly. “It’s only being sold in the North, Dongzhou, and Zhongzhou.”
He knew well enough that a game involving Spirit Beast battles probably wasn’t suitable for the chaotic Southern Region. Besides, the Southern Region was a mess right now—that’s why he never even considered releasing it there.
He also sent copies of this game, called ‘Spirit Beast Showdown’, to some disciples of the Heavenly Sword Sect. The feedback was pretty good, so it looked like it might go live soon. Since his goal wasn’t profit, he planned to keep it free—maybe add some time-saving items for sale.
This time, he was using the name ‘Tian Yan Holy Land’ for the release. After all, part of his plan included the Siku Family—Yu Ling Long’s words just plain told them he was here to stir trouble.
Though he had good relations with Tian Yan, not much was known outside. And unlike Yu Ling Long’s business, the Holy Maiden couldn’t really dominate everything herself. But Tian Yan’s reputation was surprisingly good, and once he proposed, they agreed without hesitation—so quickly it even worried him a little.
As for the Siku Family, facing a game sold by Tian Yan—an unpredictable Holy Land—they might be cautious at first but wouldn’t outright block it.
Bai Feng shook his head lightly, looking at Hu Yi Yi, who was slightly flustered because her clothes didn’t fit. “Alright, go back first. I’ll call you if I need anything.”
“Okay.” Hu Yi Yi nodded, transforming back into her white crane shape, then swiftly flew home.
Bai Feng sighed softly—truth be told, Hu Yi Yi’s help these days was pretty significant. Seeing her so interested in clothes, maybe he’d buy her a gift—though not some overpriced high-grade Spirit Clothes from Yu Ling Long.
As for what the outfit would require in terms of body data—ha! That’s a small problem for a divine-consciousness cultivator like him in the Refinement Stage. Plus, he was an old hand at the art of painting—his eyes could tell at a glance Hu Yi Yi’s measurements.
……
“Have you played the new game yet? Got a walkthrough?”
“Yep. I recommend you catch an eagle. It can fly high and pick rare Spirit Fruits that are hard for us to get.”
“Eagles are indeed mighty, but they’re too hard to catch. Got anything stronger and easier to grab?”
“Some brothers and sisters do! Such mighty Spirit Beasts aren’t just one. Look at this pigeon—it loves snacks like popcorn, flies slower than an eagle, but it can do everything an eagle can, plus it’s everywhere—especially on rooftops in bookstores.”
“Hey, you just stared at me, huh? Come on, let’s have a fantastic Spirit Beast showdown! I caught so many just for this moment!”
“Wow, the Holy Land actually made a game? And it’s pretty fun! And the best part? It’s free! Plus, it supports communication devices—no need special game consoles, can you believe that?”
“Because it’s Tian Yan Holy Land, anything’s possible, maybe they’re even helping us predict the future!”
“Well, I’ve got to have some fun with this.”
Once the game launched, thanks to its name and free access, it quickly became a hit in the North and Zhongzhou.
The Siku Family also picked up on the buzz. But their attitude matched Bai Feng’s guesses—cautious, but not overly hostile. After all, a game made by the Holy Land wasn’t something they’d openly oppose.
