**Chapter 585: Hope Everyone is Okay**
“Young Master, how did you find us?”
Upon hearing Shi Tou’s question, Bai Feng didn’t hold back and directly explained, “Of course, I traced you using your communicator.”
When he barged into the Demon Path territory, he had found several communicators in a city, which was clearly suspicious. A little backend investigation revealed that it was linked to the Monster Tribe that trailed after Ling Feng and the others, along with Shi Tou.
Though he had no idea why the Immortal Corpse trapped them in some city, he guessed it must have some special purpose, so he came over. To his surprise, the ‘dark cloud’ hovering over the city didn’t disperse upon his arrival, and the ominous black threads kept hanging around them.
At that moment, the white wolf girl finally woke up. Rubbing her head, she looked around, “Uh… what happened to me?”
Then she saw Bai Feng and quickly knelt on one knee, “Thank you for rescuing us, Master Bai Feng!”
“Yeah, now tell me what you encountered after coming to the Western Region.”
“Well, it’s like this…”
The white wolf girl’s account was pretty much the same as Shi Tou’s, except it included the fact that they were trapped in the Western Region and couldn’t leave no matter what.
“Master Bai, do you know if Brother Ling Feng is…”
She lowered her head, a sad expression on her face. To her, Ling Feng had been missing for so long; surely he couldn’t have fared well.
“He’s not dead, he’s alive. I’m just about to find him,” Bai Feng shook his head, “but if we delay any longer, who knows what could happen.”
“Can we go with you?” The girl’s expression brightened, quickly asking Bai Feng.
“Uh… hmm?” Bai Feng lifted his head, his brow furrowing in thought, “Seems like you guys are pretty important in the eyes of the Immortal Corpse.”
Shi Tou and the girl instinctively raised their heads, but all they saw was the clear, cloudless sky, finding nothing out of the ordinary.
However, in Bai Feng’s view, that lingering ‘dark cloud’ didn’t plan to disperse; instead, it extended black threads straight towards him and the others.
“Get lost.”
Before Bai Feng could react, Chu Chu quickly stepped in front of him, her dark eyes flashing with a hint of bl**d.
In the next moment, the black threads shattered like glass, and even the ominous cloud above them dissipated a little.
But the Immortal Corpse didn’t seem inclined to give up; this time, even more threads rushed towards them as the clouds converged again.
“Alright, let me handle this.”
Bai Feng placed a hand on Chu Chu’s shoulder, and in the blink of an eye, a terrifying divine consciousness surged out from within him.
He raised his head; even though he merely released his divine consciousness and didn’t do anything else, those black threads couldn’t even get close.
Honestly, this was his first time fully utilizing divine consciousness since breaking through to the Merging Stage. With the additional strength from the Divine Forging Technique and the Yin Yang Pattern, his divine consciousness was already on par with that of an Ascendant. Although the Immortal Corpse’s body belonged to an Immortal, its wisdom was still just in its infancy, so it naturally couldn’t compete with him in the realm of consciousness.
“Immortal Corpse, we’ll meet again.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the massive divine consciousness charged towards the ‘dark cloud’ above, and almost instantly, the ‘cloud’ disappeared completely, revealing a clear sky once more.
“Wow, so strong! Is this really a Merging Stage cultivator?”
The people nearby couldn’t help but swallow hard. While that overwhelming consciousness wasn’t directed at them, they could still sense its terrifying presence, feeling like fragile ants before a huge foot, ready to be squished at any moment.
“Let’s hurry, time is short. The Immortal Corpse must be getting desperate now; if we’re late, I can’t predict what might be in store for Ling Feng.”
“Yes, Master Bai Feng (Young Master)!”
Without any further pondering, they nodded enthusiastically; their hearts felt a lot lighter—no wonder the Young Master of the White Family was willingly followed by Brother Ling. His strength was indeed impressive! Looks like Bai Feng taking care of an Immortal wasn’t just exaggeration.
…
“Brother Ling, save me!” A burly man who looked just like Shi Tou was being dragged into a sea of black mist.
“Brother Ling, have you forgotten our promise?” The white wolf girl reached out her delicate finger to his shoulder, half her body already consumed by the black mist, her face filled with desperation. “Please, for my sake…”
Ling Feng looked at the familiar figure before him, but he felt no emotional pull: “Your tricks only disgust and anger me.”
Even though these beings resembled those he knew, he saw through it instantly—they were imposters.
In the next instant, Demon Energy surged within him, shredding the illusory figures apart.
But before long, the scenery around him shifted back to that fateful night, and there was still a burly guy who looked like Shi Tou, still being dragged by the mist—only this time, the shouts were different: “Brother Ling, run away!”
“Brother Ling, don’t worry about us, just escape!”
Ling Feng looked at the people on the verge of being devoured by the mist and couldn’t help but chuckle: “This is getting more ridiculous. Even if you’re trying to use this method to force me to give up, at least do a better job at disguising it.”
At the same time, he felt a pang of curiosity. The guy must be getting anxious after failing to capture him for so long, releasing these illusions of Shi Tou and the others in an attempt to affect his mindset. He was startled for a moment but quickly realized these illusions were just for show.
Speaking of which… I wonder if Shi Tou and the others managed to escape. I hope everyone is okay.
As Ling Feng pondered, the Demon Energy around him began to swirl violently, sweeping away the useless illusions and charging back towards him, seemingly furious.
…
“Good, the location hasn’t changed.”
Bai Feng shut down the system, watching the mass of Demon Cultivators pour towards them, his brows knitting together.
Each of these Demon Cultivators was connected by a black thread, but they didn’t seem like the amnesiac Shi Tou and his friends. However, something was very off; there was no communication between them, yet in battle, they moved in perfect synchronization with their teammates. If they faced unavoidable danger, they even understood to sacrifice themselves, completely lacking the selfish nature of typical Demon Cultivators.
“Controlled, huh?”
Bai Feng pondered for a few seconds. His further observations revealed these Demon Cultivators seemed to possess not even a shred of individuality. In essence, they appeared more like a cohesive unit, akin to a swarm of bees or ants, but far more extreme—almost like they shared a single consciousness.
Clearly, the cause of this phenomenon was the black threads on them.
“It looks like I’ll have to cut it directly.”
Unlike Shi Tou and the others who were still struggling to resist, these Demon Cultivators had long given up any semblance of self-defense. All that was left was one option: brute force destruction.
In a flash, Bai Feng unleashed his massive divine consciousness, which transformed in his hands into a sharp blade, slicing through the black threads binding the Demon Cultivators ahead.
Yet the Demon Cultivators didn’t stop; they still obstructed their progress. However, they no longer worked seamlessly together, moving stiffly and awkwardly, occasionally even getting in each other’s way.
