Chapter 62: Bai Feng: Did I forget to feel up the corpse?
After Bai Feng woke up, even though his eyes still saw everything through a fog, his injuries had mostly healed. So, the disciples trapped inside the cave were now gearing up to leave and look for Senior Sister.
“So, you guys got stuck in the cave while you were exploring for treasure, and two Nascent Soul Stage monsters suddenly appeared and blocked your way?”
Bai Feng followed beside Yu Yao, casually asking why they were all so bummed out.
Yu Yao, a bit pissed off, nodded vigorously: “Yeah, but I suspect this cave was just a decoy. Inside, there were only a few broken rocks, and they hid really deep! The good stuff was long taken by someone else!”
Hearing this, Bai Feng suddenly remembered something—he hadn’t felt up the corpse!
And he’d burned it all to a crisp in one big fire.
Wow, what a loss!
First time doing this sort of thing—no wonder I’m so rusty.
Bai Feng reflected inwardly for a few seconds. Yeah, he felt pretty stupid, but since the corpse was already ashes, there was no fixing it. Next time, he’d just be more careful.
“Hmm? Is that the Formation set up by the Spirit Sealing Sect you mentioned?”
Yu Yao suddenly spotted a shimmering light in the distance, and faint shouting could be heard.
“Yep, but I modified it. Now, they’re actually caught inside their own trap,” Bai Feng nodded. His eyes still couldn’t see clearly, but sensing the formation was no problem. “Huh? Looks like they’re about to come out?”
No doubt about it, the Spirit Sealing Sect was pretty skilled.
But before they could emerge, I’ll just add an extra bell for good measure!
A sly grin appeared on Bai Feng’s face. He took control of the formation and tweaked some traps. With this small change, a pleasant, fragrant sound suddenly filled the air within the formation.
“All right, Senior Sister, let’s move—if we wait too long, they might run out and cause trouble.”
“Grr, if only we had more people, I’d definitely teach them a lesson!”
Yu Yao clenched her teeth. She also knew from Bai Feng that the Spirit Sealing Sect was targeting them, and they even teamed up with the monster beast controller to coax out the little junior brother.
What a bunch of dirty rats!
They’re going to pay for this, she thought fiercely.
Next to her, Su Lan Qian looked up at the location of the formation briefly, then withdrew her gaze.
She’d only visited the Spirit Sealing Sect a few times with her Master, Liu Meng—remembered the tasty snacks, that’s about it. No other impressions.
But this time, she’d gained a new one: a despicable sect that loved playing dirty tricks.
After returning, she decided her master should steer clear of them.
……
BOOM!!
A gigantic eagle, its body covered in mostly plucked, scratchy feathers, landed heavily on the ground. One wing was chopped clean off.
“Senior Sister is awesome!”
“Seriously, taking down a Nascent Soul Stage monster with just Early Golden Core strength is terrifying!”
Bai Yu Mo landed, listening to the surrounding disciples’ exclamations. Her face was unreadable, even faintly wrinkling her brows.
Still no news from Bai Feng.
Not only that, but since entering the secret realm, she felt like she was being targeted. First, several Golden Core Stage monsters attacked her; now, a Nascent Soul monster was assaulting the team.
Even with Heavenly Sword (Fake) helping, killing flying monsters like that took serious effort and energy.
“Rest for an hour.”
Bai Yu Mo sat down to meditate and recover. She had to race against the clock—every second Bai Feng was missing meant more danger for him!
“Senior Sister!!”
At this moment, a few disciples from Heavenly Sword Sect approached in a rush. When they saw their senior sister and the others behind her, they hurried over, faces full of relief and joy.
Bai Yu Mo ceased her meditation, opened her eyes, and looked at the approaching disciples.
They all bore minor wounds, their clothes dusty and tattered—looking pretty ragged.
“What happened? Did you encounter enemies?”
The disciples hurriedly explained: “It’s the Spirit Sealing Sect. Those guys seem to be targeting us!”
“They’re also still looking for Senior Brother Bai!”
Hearing this, Bai Yu Mo slowly stood, her calm presence enough to send a shiver down the spines of nearby onlookers.
“I see. I will make them pay,” she said coldly, then softly asked the disciples, “By the way, any news about Bai Feng?”
The disciples quickly replied, “We did see Senior Brother Bai, but he didn’t come to meet us and left pretty quickly.”
“But I heard that some of our Senior Brothers and Sisters got trapped in the cave by Nascent Soul monsters. Most of them are from Green Bamboo Peak.”
“We wanted to go help, but there were a lot of Spirit Sealing Sect people gathered there. Probably a trap.”
Bai Yu Mo paused for a few seconds. Though they didn’t explicitly say it, she could guess Bai Feng had gone to rescue disciples from Green Bamboo Peak.
*Why didn’t he come find me first? We had an agreement…*
Her fists clenched. A massive power gathered within her. The disciple standing nearby swallowed hard.
Even with her Golden Core Stage cultivation, why did she feel like their gap was so huge?
But soon, Bai Yu Mo’s strength dissipated. She glanced at the other disciples and commanded, “I’m going to rescue them now. The injured stay here to recuperate. Everyone else, follow me.”
“Yes!”
……
“Hah! I finally broke out!”
“First time actually experiencing my own formation—though it’s been totally messed with now…”
“Hold on—are there people outside?”
The freshly sent-out disciples looked up and immediately saw a group of Heavenly Sword Sect disciples glaring fiercely at them.
Their cheers abruptly stopped.
“Maybe we should just go back—I feel pretty comfortable inside the formation anyway.”
“Agreed.”
They turned to run, but at the next moment, a sword suddenly appeared blocking their way.
“Are you the ones looking for Junior Brother Bai Feng?” one Heavenly Sword Sect disciple narrowed his eyes, his sharp sword floating right at the necks of the Spirit Sealing Sect crowd.
“It’s me… sniff!”
A cowardly disciple, wanting to spew some harsh words, was immediately silenced by someone quick on the draw, who covered his mouth.
He shyly chuckled and said, “We are looking for him… but… we haven’t seen him at all!”
“You haven’t seen him?”
Another disciple stepped forward, showing his firm, muscular build, with a fierce grin on his face—obviously a member of the Forging Body Peak.
The Spirit Sealing Sect members hurriedly nodded:
“Yeah, yeah!”
Seeing everyone’s less-than-friendly looks, one trembling disciple raised his hand to speak:
“Hold on, I… I’ve got the latest intel!”
“Tell us.”
“Senior Brother Bai Feng did come by. But he already left, and he played us for fools,” the disciple explained, pointing at the formation. “Look, he even altered our formation! We almost couldn’t get out!”
The Heavenly Sword Sect disciple nodded, “Not lying.”
She stepped forward, her voice ice-cold: “Where are the Heavenly Sword Sect disciples you’ve trapped?”
