Chapter 64: You’re Not Bai Yu Mo, Who Are You Anyway?
“Uh… Sorry about that…”
Faced with Bai Yu Mo’s apology, Bai Feng didn’t stop his ‘reception’ of her adorable little face. Nope, he just kept on squishing her cheeks like he was kneading dough.
Meanwhile, he thought to himself that Bai Yu Mo’s emotions seemed a bit *too* unstable. If she keeps getting triggered, she might end up with a Heart Demon just like Su Lan Qian.
He guessed she was still haunted by events from a few years ago — not just feeling guilty, but judging by her almost pleading behavior, she might actually be worried that he’d drift away from her because of her past experiences.
He really needed to find a way to fix that issue.
Standing nearby, Su Lan Qian watched the scene with a hand instinctively reaching up to her own little face. If her cheeks got pinched… No, no, no! What was she even thinking? Just imagining it made her think maybe her Heart Demon wouldn’t pop out for days.
Bai Feng didn’t notice Su Lan Qian turning shy, and after a brief squeeze, he finally let go of Bai Yu Mo’s already flushing cheeks. He heaved a sigh of relief, feeling instantly happier.
He then opened his System to check. Lo and behold — no Luck Points were added. Mission accomplished: he successfully stopped the System from shoving luck points into his face.
Finally — a win against the System!
“Er, sorry to interrupt your sibling bonding time, but… could you tell me, Senior Sister, what’s going on with Ye Tang?”
At that moment, Yu Yao, unable to hold back her curiosity, sidled over and asked Bai Feng and Bai Yu Mo.
Bai Feng glanced at Bai Yu Mo and hesitated, trying to decide whose turn it was to speak first. Meanwhile, the disciples from Heavenly Sword Sect who couldn’t keep up with Bai Yu Mo finally caught up.
“Great! Bai Brother is safe!”
“Where’s Ye Tang? Isn’t he in the team?”
“He dared to attack fellow sect members and even collaborated with Spirit Sealing Sect to force Bai Brother out. We need to take him to the Law Enforcement Hall for punishment!”
“He should be expelled from the Sect! Someone like him doesn’t belong in Heavenly Sword Sect!”
Hearing their righteous indignation, Yu Yao finally understood what was happening — and a flicker of anger sparked in her heart.
Turns out, their predicament had all been Ye Tang’s fault.
Remember, these disciples had been nearly killed by those two Nascent Soul Stage monsters. Had Yu Yao not braved the impact of the monsters, even more of her weaker companions wouldn’t have made it back.
“Don’t tell me… wait,” Yu Yao suddenly recalled what Bai Feng said about Ye Tang earlier — he mentioned Ye Tang was dead.
Gasp. Was her little brother this strong?
She shot a quick glance at Bai Feng. His face was unreadable, as if he didn’t care about the whole thing.
She poked his waist lightly and whispered: “Little Brother, how did you do that? Aren’t you a Formation Master?”
“Yeah, I am!” Bai Feng replied simply.
Yu Yao pressed on anxiously: “Come on, don’t keep me in suspense! Tell me how you managed it!”
“Did you forget what Spirit Sealing Sect did? Or was it because of the big array they set up? Honestly, I wouldn’t have dared confront Ye Tang without their protection.”
Hearing that, Yu Yao finally remembered Spirit Sealing Sect had placed a great Formation nearby.
She rubbed her head and said, “So, Spirit Sealing Sect basically shot themselves in the foot — and accidentally killed Ye Tang too?”
Well, that was about the only explanation that fit.
She gave Bai Feng a thumbs-up: “Little Brother, well done!”
Good riddance! As a victim, Yu Yao held zero pity for Ye Tang.
“But Little Brother, why didn’t you get a few more people to help? That way, your eyes might not be temporarily blind, right?”
“First, I can only see blurry — I wouldn’t say I’m totally blind,” Bai Feng explained. “And second, I only noticed too late.”
That was one reason. Plus, he hadn’t found Lin Yan and Luo Chen, and more importantly — he was worried that Ye Tang’s punishment might turn from d*ath on the spot to detention in the Law Enforcement Hall. For the Child of Luck, that was practically the same as releasing a tiger back into the wild.
Yu Yao nodded but muttered softly, “Ugh, I feel like it wasn’t worth making our Little Brother temporarily blind just to stop that guy.”
Especially in the Secret Realm — weren’t they just slowing down Little Brother’s growth?
“Alright, now that we’ve found Senior Sister, let’s find a place to rest,” Bai Feng waved his hand. More than anything, he just wanted a spot to chill out.
…
Camp Site.
“Um, Yu Mo, as Heavenly Sword Sect’s Senior Sister, you probably have lots of stuff to do, right? Maybe don’t just stick around me all the time.”
Bai Feng lay on a makeshift wooden bed, looking a bit helpless as he addressed Bai Yu Mo sitting nearby.
“I don’t have anything pressing,” Bai Yu Mo shook her head. She patted her thigh and said, “Brother, please lie here. I have this Mystic Eye Dew that can heal eye injuries.”
“Do I really need to lie on your leg for medicine?”
“This is super expensive! I only got six drops in total!” Bai Yu Mo pouted, dead serious. “What if I accidentally waste some? At least, be a little closer!”
“…Don’t Golden Core Stage people sometimes shake hands or fumble?” Bai Feng teased, but he still scooted over and lay down on Bai Yu Mo’s leg.
His eyesight would recover after some rest, but he figured if he could speed up the process, why not? It was awful not to see clearly.
Bai Yu Mo didn’t do anything weird — she just leaned her hand near Bai Feng’s eyes and gently dropped the Mystic Eye Dew.
A cool sensation spread through his eyes, and Bai Feng could feel the Yin Yang Pattern slowly activating, absorbing the dew.
‘Whoa! It really works!’
His vision sharpened a bit. Maybe a few more rounds, and he’d be able to see the facial features clearly.
He then casually asked, “Yu Mo, can you move your hand away from my face now?”
He opened his eyes, still blurry, but from her posture, he could tell she was probably looking down at him, and her little hand was mischievously wandering across his face.
“Ah… uh, okay,” Bai Yu Mo hurriedly withdrew her hand, her eyes darting around. Even her ears looked a little red.
She first moved Bai Feng’s head off her lap, then quickly jumped off the bed. Her tone was brisk: “I’ve almost finished the congee I cooked. I’ll go ahead now. Brother, rest well!”
She hurried out of the room, softly shutting the door behind her.
“Is she shy?” Bai Feng turned his head to look at the closed door, half expecting her to be joking.
He pondered a moment when suddenly, the door swung open again.
From her figure, Bai Feng knew it wasn’t Yu Yao, and she wasn’t wearing the Heavenly Sword Sect disciple’s robes, nor did she look like Su Lan Qian…
While wondering who had entered, a familiar yet strange voice sounded at the door:
“Bro, are you feeling better now? I just checked; the porridge isn’t ready yet, but I got some Spirit Fruit. Do you want to eat a little to fill your stomach?”
Bai Yu Mo? She’d just left! How come she’s back so quickly?
And her tone was different — not quite like her usual gentle voice. What was off?
As Bai Feng mused, Yu Mo added, “Bro, are you asleep? I want to come in.”
Finally, he realized what was bothering him!
Her tone carried a bit of respect — a respect he hadn’t heard in years.
And now, aside from calling him “Bro,” Bai Yu Mo lacked any respect whatsoever.
You’re not Bai Yu Mo anymore — who *are* you?
