Chapter 66: Master Sister Yu Yao’s Height Is Unmatchable
“Brother, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have left the room…” Bai Yu Mo lowered her head, clutching her clothes in a grudging grip.
“Alright, rest up first. Thanks to you this time, otherwise I might not have escaped from that demon woman’s hands.” Bai Feng picked up Bai Yu Mo and surveyed the scene. Even though his eyesight was still blurry, he could tell this room was beyond saving.
The bed, chairs, tables—nothing was intact, all shattered by the aftershock of the fight. There were sword marks and big holes all over the walls too.
The porridge at the door, however, was still surprisingly intact.
“Little Junior Brother, what’s wrong?” Yu Yao peeked out her head slowly. In fact, they had already sensed the danger at the start of the fight, but it was just too intense to approach.
Is this really the kind of battle a Golden Core Stage genius should be unleashing?
“Just now, Hundred Faces Saintess sneaked in, but Bai Yu Mo drove her away.” Bai Feng simplified the situation with a quick explanation. “Senior Sister Yu Yao, could you prepare a new room?”
Yu Yao was immediately stunned. “Huh? Hundred Faces Saintess? Do you want me to check the regular disciples?”
“Thanks, Senior Sister.”
Bai Feng glared at Yu Yao’s height and comfortably handed over the task.
“Um…” Su Lan Qian cautiously peeked out from behind, hesitating. “Maybe I can just use my room? It’s right next door, and I… I don’t need to rest.”
“That works. Sorry to trouble you,” Bai Feng nodded and briskly carried Bai Yu Mo towards Su Lan Qian’s room, gently placing her on the bed.
He sat beside her, while Su Lan Qian stood in the corner, head bowed like a sculpture—looks pretty bullied.
“Um, maybe you should—” Bai Feng started to suggest, but before he could finish, Su Lan Qian hurriedly interrupted.
“No need. I’m fine here. Don’t worry about me, and… please don’t chase me away.”
Bai Feng: “…”
Are you being a bit too meek?
Ah, she seems happy, so whatever.
Bai Feng shook his head, glancing at Bai Yu Mo sleeping on the bed. It was the first time he saw her looking so weak.
Having fed her restorative pills, he pointed to the porridge on the table. “By the way, I brought some porridge. Want to drink some?”
Bai Yu Mo shook her head. “No, it’s okay. Your eyes still haven’t recovered.”
“I can ask Master Sister Yu Yao for help.”
“No need. Just stay with me a bit longer, okay?” Bai Yu Mo slowly grabbed his hand. “Just for a little while…”
Bai Feng looked down. Bai Yu Mo’s hand reached out from under the blanket, clutching his, gripping tight as if afraid he’d leave.
Even a genius like Bai Yu Mo, when hurt, just wants a loved one’s company!
Come to think of it, her reaction was a bit… over the top.
It kind of scared him.
He noticed she kept staring at him, nervous tinge on her face. He sighed helplessly, pressing her hand gently: “Don’t worry. With how I look now, I can’t really go anywhere.”
“Mm…” Bai Yu Mo nodded softly, a faint smile almost flickering on her lips.
It felt a little sneaky to ask for care while being weak… but honestly, it made her feel better.
Feeling safe, she slowly closed her eyes, breathing evenly. Her hand, however, remained clutching Bai Feng tightly.
“Are you asleep?”
Bai Feng watched Bai Yu Mo sleeping peacefully, not leaving, but sitting on the bed, pondering how to prevent the demon woman from sneaking in.
This time, Bai Yu Mo was safe—he could verify her identity through the system by checking her aura of destiny, after all.
But what about others?
Like Yu Yao… oh, no need to worry about her; her height is something unimitable.
Or Su Lan Qian, even disguised as a normal disciple.
The Hundred Faces Saintess’s ability really is tricky, no wonder she’s been active for so long without getting caught.
“Well, let’s add a few arrays to the camp,” he murmured.
That should be enough for now. In a few days, they can leave this secret realm. Once back at the Heavenly Sword Sect, they’d be safe.
It’s just a pity about Ye Tang—they never really got to enjoy exploring the secret realm.
…
“Brother, don’t… I’ll change, I promise. Don’t leave…” Bai Yu Mo suddenly sat up on the bed, looking confused at her surroundings. After a few seconds, she remembered battling the demon woman with drained spirit power, and now she was just resting on the bed.
It felt like ages since she’d slept this well. Even in her dreams, she fought nightmares.
She wanted to raise her hand to rub her heavy head but realized she was clutching Bai Feng’s hand. He was just leaning by the bed, resting.
“Brother…”
The nightmare’s fear instantly faded. She lowered her head slightly, then suddenly looked towards the corner of the room, where she saw Su Lan Qian also sitting against the wall, asleep.
She shifted her gaze back to Bai Feng, her heart pounding. After hesitating a few seconds, she lightly kissed the back of his hand.
“Thank you.”
Her cheeks flushed pink. Quickly, she straightened up and gently laid Bai Feng back on the bed to rest.
Watching him sleep beside her, a satisfied smile appeared on her face. She wanted to enjoy the moment, but waking him prematurely wouldn’t do. And there was someone else in the room—best not to get caught.
“Reheat the porridge,” she whispered, quietly getting off the bed.
Learning from last time, she left a sword intent at the bedside, then carried the cooled porridge out of the room.
After she left, Su Lan Qian suddenly opened her eyes. She trembled violently and bowed her head—feeling that maybe this sibling duo’s relationship was a bit strange. If Bai Yu Mo found out she wasn’t asleep, wouldn’t she be silenced forever?
…
“Senior Sister Su, can you set up the array now?”
Bai Feng stood atop a ruined building, already preparing the formations after waking up.
Though this was their temporary camp, the terrain was decent. He planned to arrange a few arrays to turn it into a defensive stronghold. If any disciple was hurt while exploring the secret realm, they could recuperate here.
Most importantly, with arrays in place, they could prevent the demon woman from sneaking in again.
“If it’s near you, I think I can.” Su Lan Qian lowered her head, looking no different from usual.
“Alright, then please help carve the array,” Bai Feng nodded. “I’ll handle the overall layout; you just focus on the details. My eyesight’s still not fully recovered.”
He could help with divine consciousness, but since his eyes were still healing, prolonged use was not ideal.
Plus, he hadn’t been able to fuse the Yin-Yang Pattern fragments he got because of his eyes. He’d hoped fusing them would restore his sight…
“Got it.”
After Su Lan Qian agreed, Bai Feng explained the layout to her.
The array was a layered composite, combining multiple Tier 4 arrays and a Tier 5 array. Its main function was to identify intruders’ identities.
He also planned to modify it based on the terrain trap array (fragment) he had studied.
“Alright, let’s begin.” Bai Feng stretched, and to motivate Su Lan Qian, he tossed out a carrot: “Once we’re done, I’ll promise to do one thing I can do.”
Su Lan Qian paused, then lowered her head softly: “Mm.”
While Bai Feng focused on constructing the array, suddenly, bustling noises erupted from the camp: several disciples hurried in, carrying an extremely injured person whose wounds were gruesome and bl**d stained his Heavenly Sword Sect robes.
It seemed he had regained consciousness from the bump, squinting with difficulty and shouting hoarsely, “Quick! Save Junior Brother Lin Yan and Senior Brother Luo Chen!”
