### Chapter 136: Step-Dad, Please Accept Our Worship
“What’s up?” Dragon Brother asked.
The cold girl seemed a bit flustered, clearly not a person who liked to take the initiative.
Seeing her nervous demeanor, Dragon Brother felt she looked more familiar by the second.
Before he could let his suspicions run wild, the cold girl slowly approached, and he noticed the ointment in her hand.
“This is an anti-swelling ointment I got for you. Use it morning and night,” she said with her uniquely cool voice.
It was that distinctive voice that triggered recognition in Dragon Brother.
Who would’ve thought she still remembered him and cared enough to get this?
She probably recognized him at the restaurant earlier and went out of her way to buy the ointment.
Taking the ointment from her, he smiled and said, “Thanks! Almost didn’t recognize you.”
He had drank quite a bit the night before; though the street lamps offered some light, it was still relatively dim, and she’d been so anxious and messy with her hair that it was tough to connect her to this ethereal beauty standing before him.
Still a bit dazed, Dragon Brother smiled at her, and she chuckled lightly, “I should be the one thanking you.”
“Alright, alright, let’s stop thanking each other. You thank me, I thank you—it’s just weird.”
Lin Wan Ning nodded, initially not finding it strange, but after hearing him say that, she couldn’t help but agree it was a bit bizarre.
Yet, deep inside, a smidge of fondness for him began to stir.
Not because Lin Wan Ning was overly confident about her looks or figure, but because there were always so many guys trying to grab her attention.
This had started back in middle school and continued strong into high school.
Having come to university a bit late yesterday and after the events that transpired last night, she found many people in campus—even today—trying various methods to get her attention…
Though she could see through their intentions instantly, she never quite knew what to say to them…
Now that she thought about it, if the guy who helped her had been anyone else, they would have definitely tried to get close, asking for her contact info or inviting her to hang out.
Though she felt that might be too absolute, she had encountered way too many guys like that.
But the person standing in front of her not only hadn’t tried any of that—he seemed to have forgotten her entirely.
It felt as though his helping her was truly just a casual act. No ulterior motives at all.
Being around such a person was refreshingly comfortable. So far, Lin Wan Ning felt quite at ease.
“I’m Lin Wan Ning; what about you?”
“Dragon Brother,” he said, nodding, then incredulously asked, “What’s your name??”
Lin Wan Ning was puzzled by his sudden excitement, but she answered seriously, “Lin Wan Ning.”
“The Lin Wan Ning from the music department?”
“Yes, that’s me! How do you know I’m from the music department?” Lin Wan Ning nodded, not that it was a secret.
Dragon Brother smiled.
Lin Wan Ning wasn’t sure why Dragon Brother knew her name and department, which made her laugh a bit.
But she found it rather interesting: “What’s up with that?”
“Nothing really, just feels like this world is small and so bizarre!”
Lin Wan Ning’s gaze fell, her pointed ears flushed under her hair.
Even though she hadn’t dated before, she had heard lines like “the world is small, let’s meet, fate is beautiful, let’s be together…” countless times.
“Why do you say stuff like that?” Lin Wan Ning murmured, her usually cool voice taking on an unexpectedly sweet tone.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to be awkward! I saw you at that restaurant too—were you there with friends?”
“Yeah, with my three roommates.” Hearing Dragon Brother apologize didn’t really bother Lin Wan Ning.
“Great! Let’s go over; I was just on my way to have a meal with my roommates.”
“Okay.”
Dragon Brother walked ahead, glancing back at Lin Wan Ning following closely behind, and couldn’t help but think of Hu Yu Ying, his little sidekick.
Little sidekick, like a little tail…
So he slowed down.
Lin Wan Ning hadn’t expected Dragon Brother to walk so fast. She was almost lagging behind but suddenly noticed he had slowed down and rushed to catch up.
She wouldn’t forget about the person who helped her just because he said a few words.
In the situation yesterday, had Dragon Brother not stepped up, if that bottle had hit her, she’d hardly consider herself that tough—just a few bruises and scratches…
And if the guy had started hurling nasty insults, her reputation would’ve been in serious trouble…
Upon entering the restaurant, Huang Fei, Li Long Long, and Xu Shuai were left dumbfounded, glancing at Dragon Brother and the stunning cold beauty beside him, their jaws practically dropping.
“Dude, did he just score big time without even trying??”
“No way! As the love trifecta of doom, we hadn’t even made a move, and he’s already bagged the prize?!”
“Uh, hey, Dragon Brother, who’s this lovely lady?”
Dragon Brother turned to Lin Wan Ning and said, “This is Lin Wan Ning from the music department.”
Continuing, he added, “These three are my roommates—you probably saw them last night.”
“Last night?” The three were momentarily stunned, then suddenly exchanged wide-eyed looks as if to say, “cr*p! If we had known last night, we totally would’ve swooped in to be the heroes in this movie!”
Lin Wan Ning just nodded, her expression cool, emanating an aura of aloofness.
Given the way they were sneaking glances at her, while she had gotten used to such attention over the years and wasn’t particularly offended, she still didn’t enjoy feeling like a product under examination.
So she glanced at Dragon Brother instead, “Remember to apply the ointment twice a day; it’ll heal quickly and leave no scars. Ah, I’ll go ahead.”
“Sure, see ya!”
Lin Wan Ning hesitated for a moment. Noticing her want to say something, Dragon Brother asked, “What’s up?”
Hearing that, Lin Wan Ning’s ears turned slightly red. She fidgeted with her fingers and softly asked, “Can I add you on Penguin?”
Dragon Brother blinked, stunned, “Huh?” He thought she was troubled about something.
After a few moments and finishing on their phones…
Lin Wan Ning glanced at her contacts and noticed she had a new entry pop up on her Penguin. Her cold expression now softened a bit as she muttered, “Thanks.”
And with that, she rushed back to her room without even daring to look around at the curious stares.
“Hey, you guys spaced out or what?” Dragon Brother waved his hands in front of his mates, who looked utterly dazed.
Just yesterday, they had sworn to help him find a girlfriend.
And yet, here he was, with a cold beauty from the campus actively adding him on Penguin!
Not to mention she initiated it!!!
“Step-dad, please accept our worship…”
