Chapter 138: Poor Little Girl Feels Wronged
“I added her! I really added her!” Xu Shuai exclaimed as he proudly waved his phone around.
“Remember that girl I brushed fingers with when we went to get our military training uniforms today? I just added her on Penguin!”
“Whoa, dude, you’re fast!” Li Long Long glanced over, but Xu Shuai clutched his phone like it was the last slice of pizza at a party.
“Forget you, if you want to flirt, go do it yourself.”
“Fine, I will!” Li Long Long pouted, then whipped out his own phone, jumping into the brand-new class group they had just set up today.
Everyone had changed their nicknames in the group, and he peeked at Han Xiao Jing’s profile picture, clicked it and closed it again—his guilty conscience kicking in like a bad habit.
If he had no skeletons in his closet, adding someone wouldn’t be such a big deal, right?
“Yes, yes, yes!” Huang Fei shot up from his bed, staring at his phone like it just revealed the secret to life. “I added her too! Hahaha…”
Now that Dragon Brother had been added by the cold school beauty, even Huang Fei and Xu Shuai had their sights set. Li Long Long grit his teeth and hit the add friend button too.
Moments later, his friend request was accepted.
Li Long Long held up his phone in triumph, grinning. “See? I added her too. Who even cares, right? Hmph…”
The dorm suddenly fell into an unusual moment of silence.
The three of them huddled on their beds, twisted like pretzels, occasionally bursting into strange giggles.
“Are you all some strange giggling beasts now?” Dragon Brother looked at the three of them, utterly amused.
Xu Shuai and Li Long Long were one thing, but even Huang Fei, the genius behind the Ten Core Theories of Love, had turned into a giggling beast? What a world!
Aren’t they supposed to be enjoying single life?
Facing Dragon Brother’s teasing, Huang Fei simply buried his head under the covers. “You’re just jealous we’re actually chatting with someone…”
As soon as he finished, there was a knock at the dorm door. “Is Dragon Brother in here? Someone is looking for him downstairs.”
At this, all three of them jumped from their beds, their eyes locked onto Dragon Brother like hawks.
As he headed out, they bolted toward the balcony.
Their dorm was on the fourth floor, and it didn’t take long before they spotted Dragon Brother’s figure.
“Whoa, am I seeing things? Didn’t Old Ao say he had no romantic experience? That cool girl added him because he saved her, but now… what’s going on here?”
“I don’t know, but it feels like I just bit into a dead fly. While we were over here patting ourselves on the back for adding girls, he’s now meeting one in person—no, she came to find him!”
“I feel like I’m ridiculously pure compared to him!”
“Seriously! Good-looking, athletic, never dated but always surrounded by girls, and whenever he makes a move, it’s like a nuclear bomb!”
“Looks like sports students really are…”
Before he could finish, the other two interrupted, “Who are you talking about?”
Xu Shuai finally realized he was almost about to insult himself!
Downstairs, when Dragon Brother saw Hu Yu Ying and Li Qing Xue standing not far away, surprise flooded him, followed by an unnameable emotion tugging at his heart.
The sunset painted their silhouettes, as if time itself had frozen, and everything melted into smiles.
Dragon Brother truly didn’t expect the two little ones would come looking for him.
He had planned to wait until military training was over to seek them out.
“Didn’t expect this, did you?” Li Qing Xue said with a playful smirk, her expression radiating pride.
Seeing the smile on Li Qing Xue’s face, Dragon Brother couldn’t help but chuckle back—her smile was like a spell that infected everything around her.
“Dragon Brother!” They exchanged smiles that felt like they said a thousand words without uttering a sound.
When Dragon Brother looked at Hu Yu Ying, he felt an odd calm wash over him, almost like his heart had settled into place.
He smiled, but then—wait, why was he suddenly feeling a little pitiful? Sure, he was happy, but there was a voice saying, “You didn’t keep your promises.”
You know how the saying goes: “When reliance becomes a habit, leaving feels like withdrawal.”
Unbeknownst to him, long before he even realized, Hu Yu Ying’s dependence on him had completely filled her heart.
Or maybe Dragon Brother knew about her reliance and simply chalked it up to companionship.
“Oh dear, I guess the little girl feels wronged,” he chuckled, tousling Hu Yu Ying’s hair.
Watching the affectionate interaction between Dragon Brother and Hu Yu Ying made Li Qing Xue a bit envious.
There was such sincerity in Hu Yu Ying’s treatment of Dragon Brother, it always felt so uncomplicated…
“It’s just some people can’t keep their word.”
“Okay, okay, this round is on me. What do you want for dinner tonight? I’ll cover it!” Dragon Brother found it impossible to counter Li Qing Xue’s incessant chatter; she was just so lively.
“Why do you look so reluctant? Come on, two gorgeous ladies flanking you—don’t you know how many people are secretly envious of you?”
“Wow, you’ve got me feeling a bit too full of myself now,” Dragon Brother laughed, cracking his knuckles.
Li Qing Xue immediately dodged, holding up her head defensively. “Can’t catch me!”
Hu Yu Ying watched the playful exchange between Dragon Brother and Li Qing Xue, feeling hopeful inside.
Li Qing Xue’s lively spirit was something she didn’t possess and couldn’t learn from anyone else.
It felt like all the beauty in the world gathered in her, and anyone near her was inevitably influenced by her optimism and vivacity.
“What are you daydreaming about?” Dragon Brother waved a hand in front of Hu Yu Ying. “Why do you look more dazed than usual?”
“From now on, I won’t call you my little follower anymore; I’ll call you little Muddlehead!”
“No way, I’m definitely your little follower,” Hu Yu Ying insisted, fixing the hair Dragon Brother had messed up.
She was his little follower, the most obedient one at that.
With just a couple of casual remarks, Hu Yu Ying’s emotions shifted in sync with Dragon Brother’s.
“How did you two get here?”
Dragon Brother was also surprised to find out it was only three kilometers to A University by bike.
He had just run that distance this morning!
“We took a ride.”
“Must’ve been tough sneaking into the school, huh?”
“Super easy! We just walked right in,” Li Qing Xue said, cupping her chin with her hand. “What, you think we don’t look like students?” She winked, proud as a peacock.
Her youthful brilliance was on full display…
