Chapter 151: Poor Little Thing with a Bit of Melancholy
Just as they were chatting,
Dragon Brother’s phone rang.
The video froze, glitching until the signal dropped out.
Looking at the caller ID, Dragon Brother felt a mix of helplessness and amusement.
It was Lin Wan Ning! Ever since he took this little sister under his wing, she called him every single day without fail.
The cool, aloof campus beauty had a secret: she was actually a total clingy little thing! If he told anyone, no one would believe it.
When he answered the call, Lin Wan Ning’s unique voice chimed in, “Bro, let’s go grab a bite!”
“I found a super affordable barbecue place! No refusing! Last time, you treated me, so this time if you refuse, I’ll have to spread rumors about you!”
Lin Wan Ning had her principles too. Even though she called him “bro,” she wouldn’t randomly ask him to treat her to food or anything else.
In her words, if she was going to take advantage of someone, there had to be a limit! Besides, calling Dragon Brother “bro” wasn’t even about getting benefits.
Otherwise, if she casually dropped a hint, plenty of guys would be jumping at the chance to treat her.
“Got it! But give me a bit, I just wrapped up and I haven’t showered yet. I’m a sweaty mess.”
After Dragon Brother agreed, Lin Wan Ning hung up.
Just as the call ended, a message from Hu Yu Ying bounced onto the screen.
After thinking for a moment, he decided to video call her.
When it connected, Hu Yu Ying cautiously asked, “What’s up, Dragon Brother?”
“Nothing much, just a friend called to say she wants to go out to eat.”
“Oh! By the way, when the break comes, I’ll introduce you all to someone.”
Li Qing Xue scoffed, “Introduce us? That means she’s a girl, huh?” Her gaze turned disdainful as she looked at Dragon Brother.
Hu Yu Ying’s beautiful eyes sparkled, and even though she was just looking at Dragon Brother, he couldn’t help but feel a wave of pity wash over him. “Is Dragon Brother going out to eat with other girls?”
That melancholic little expression on Hu Yu Ying’s face left Dragon Brother dazed for several seconds before he laughingly explained himself.
Of course, he omitted the part about his back getting hurt.
“Little girls are so nice. Calling me ‘bro’ probably makes them feel guilty, but I think I might be in over my head.”
Li Qing Xue had already heard about this from Dragon Brother, so she wasn’t surprised.
But she was way more curious about that girl.
“So, did you get hurt, Dragon Brother?” Hu Yu Ying didn’t take her eyes off him since he started speaking.
“Of course not! I, your Dragon Brother, threw a punch and took that bully down!” He acted it out on the video.
He went all out demonstrating which fist he used, then chuckled at Hu Yu Ying on the screen. “How about that? Pretty impressive, right?”
“Impressive!” Hu Yu Ying giggled at his smile, and her laughter felt like a spring breeze, gentle and comforting.
“Nice.”
Dragon Brother mumbled, noticing how Hu Yu Ying had transformed from the gloomy figure that used to follow him around with her head down.
In less than a year, her changes had all been witnessed by Dragon Brother.
He felt a mix of pride and a bit of smugness, thinking, “Yeah, I played a part in that!”

“Of course! I always keep my word, and this little bit of money is nothing for my future.”
“This stock is going to soar! But that’s pocket change; the big deal is my future girlfriend is going to be a top star!” Ye Liang Chen said confidently.
“Seriously? If you’re that amazing, why are you borrowing money from us?”
“Exactly! My monthly living expenses are already this tight, and you want to borrow another hundred?”
Ye Liang Chen scoffed at them. “You guys are so small-minded.”
“Sometimes, you have to think bigger and look further ahead!”
One of the roommates muttered, “Who knows what the future holds…”
Ye Liang Chen couldn’t help but smirk, flipping his hair confidently.
“You can’t predict the future, but that doesn’t mean I can’t! Besides, I’m not a loan shark; what are you afraid of? We’re all in the same dorm. You think I would run away?”
“And by borrowing money today, it means I owe you a favor, but let me tell you—my favors are worth way more than a hundred bucks!”
“That’s my confidence! I believe my future is in my hands!”
Hearing this, the other roommates were holding back laughter. “Fine, we’ll still be dorm mates for the next four years. Just remember to pay me back next month!”
So, one roommate lent Ye Liang Chen a hundred bucks.
Holding onto the three hundred he got, Ye Liang Chen smiled confidently. “Don’t worry. Soon, I’ll give you all a surprise!”
He gathered his fingers into a fist and then dramatically spread them open like fireworks. “And it’s going to be a HUGE surprise! Just hope you’re not too shocked when it happens!”
With that, he fixed his hair in the mirror and strutted out of the dorm.
But the moment he stepped out, the smile vanished, replaced by an endless frown!
“d*mn Dragon Brother! If it weren’t for you screwing up my chance to meet my treasure girl, my family wouldn’t have had to shell out so much for me to get into this crummy university!”
“And you, Li Qing Xue, you shameless two-timer! Just wait! Before long, it’ll be a love triangle of doom for you, and I won’t show any mercy!”
After venting all his frustrations, Ye Liang Chen took a deep breath.
“If I remember correctly, today should be the second time we meet!”
But looking at the cash in his hand, he couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly. “Can’t believe I’ve sunk to borrowing money.”
