Chapter 200: Do You Know What I’ve Sacrificed for You?
“How could you say something like that to me?” Ye Liang Chen’s eyes widened in disbelief, eyes brimming with tears. “Do you even realize how much I’ve lost just to redeem you guys?”
Just as Li Qing Xue opened her mouth to say more, Ye Liang Chen abruptly covered his ears, whispering mournfully with tear-streaked cheeks, “I won’t hear it. I just won’t.”
Seeing this bizarre scene, Hu Yu Ying and the others instinctively took a step back, giving him some space. They had come out for a bath and now found themselves tangled in what could only be described as the worst soap opera—who knew bathing would turn into an emotional rollercoaster?
“Why don’t you believe me? Why? Everything shouldn’t be like this,” Ye Liang Chen lamented, sounding genuinely confused—no, bewildered. Especially about Hu Yu Ying. In his previous life, she was the picture of serenity and grace, yet this life she’s spouting such shameless words? It was unthinkable.
All of this chaos was the doing of Long Ao Tian.
Long Ao Tian had inadvertently passed his bad habits onto Hu Yu Ying—talk about a toxic inheritance—turning her from a gentle, adorable girl into… this!
Feeling torn inside, Ye Liang Chen looked at Hu Yu Ying with a mixture of pity and frustration. “Look at you now. You’ve become unrecognizable. I don’t even know who you are anymore.”
“Ye Liang Chen, are you okay?” Li Qing Xue asked, her brow furrowed with concern.
“Don’t talk,” Ye Liang Chen snapped at her, eyes burning with intense emotion. “You too! Look at yourself. What have you become? Still asking why I’ve changed?”
“Have you even looked in the mirror? You know full well Long Ao Tian’s intentions aren’t for your best, and yet you still rush headlong—fearing he might not see you? Seriously?”
The disappointment in his voice hit hard. Then, shifting his gaze to Lin Wan Ning, he said sharply, “I thought you were different from them. Turns out I was wrong. Do you even realize you’re basically colluding with a criminal?”
“Are you nuts?” the three of them stared at Ye Liang Chen, their expressions slowly changing from shock to concern—no, maybe slight worry that he’s lost his marbles.
Without another word, they turned and left.
Ye Liang Chen scrambled after them, desperation in his voice: “Wait! What are you saying? That I’m sick? I’m saving you! How can you say that?”
“You don’t know anything,” he continued, voice trembling, “but I’ve shown you everything I’ve done for you. I’ve sacrificed everything—yet you call me crazy?”
Li Qing Xue couldn’t hold it in anymore. She spun around and snapped, “What exactly have you sacrificed for us?”
“What right do you have to say that? Do we NEED you to succeed? Why? Our lives are ours! Why are we entrusting them to you?”
“Even if Long Ao Tian is as terrible as you say, can’t I still choose to help him? Huh?”
Her anger boiled over. She was furious.
“Fine, fine,” Ye Liang Chen nodded slowly, a twisted smile on his face. “So, you finally admit it. Then let me tell you—how much I’ve sacrificed for you.”
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “I didn’t want to tell you this before, I wanted to bear it alone. But since you ask, I’ll lay it all out.”
“Hu Yu Ying, when Long Ao Tian was bullying you, I was silently defending you in my heart. I even kept a little notebook recording all of Long Ao Tian’s evil deeds, ready to help you avenge yourself someday.”
“When I saw Long Ao Tian setting up a stall with you, worried you’d fall deeper into his trap, I stepped in—redeeming you again. But you rejected me. Still, I chose to save you.”
“And last time, I took two slaps from Long Ao Tian for you. Isn’t that enough? Or do you need more?”
“As for Li Qing Xue, we’ve known each other for nine years. During those nine years, I’ve been like a big brother, protecting you, right? But what did you do?”
“You have the ability. Even if you stayed another year to retake exams and got into A University, I supported you. But you refused. My nine years of protecting you—just for a year of retaking? Ha! That’s hurtful.”
“But I didn’t hate you. I was just trying to use my connections, spending money, coming to Kyoto. I thought you’d be happy to see me, to fulfill that promise of dating after university.”
“But what did you do? You betrayed your word, turned my efforts into a joke. Aren’t these sacrifices enough?”
Finally, he turned to Lin Wan Ning. “You went to school at Ye Village, right?”
“Yes, I was your preschool classmate.”
“We knew each other in kindergarten. Even though I moved away later, one summer I came back to Ye Village and helped you up when you fell. Aren’t we childhood sweethearts?”
“After coming to Kyoto, I recognized you at first glance.”
“When I found out Long Ao Tian was about to hurt you, I was the one who appeared and protected you!”
Lin Wan Ning frowned.
Seeing her frown, Ye Liang Chen chuckled. “Don’t remember, huh?”
“Earlier, you and Long Ao Tian left the mall riding your bikes toward school. Do you remember what Long Ao Tian did to you? He even forced you to stick out your tongue. It was actually me who made a racket, stopping him from doing something inappropriate.”
“All of this—if I hadn’t spoken up, would you even know? I’ve been silently helping you from behind the scenes all along. Sacrificing everything for you. Yet you keep hurting me again and again.”
He poured out everything he’d done for them with trembling voice, expecting that perhaps hearing his sacrifices would move them to tears, maybe regret their earlier rudeness, and awaken to his true sincerity…
But he never expected Lin Wan Ning to pull out her phone and dial 110: “If you dare to stalk us again, I’ll call the police. You pervert!”
“Ye Liang Chen, from now on, let’s pretend we never knew each other,” Li Qing Xue said seriously.

She wasn’t angry anymore. Facing someone like him, she’d run out of patience. The best thing to do now was ignore him.
Hu Yu Ying didn’t even look at Ye Liang Chen. She yanked the two kids and left directly. No point wasting another glance on someone who always talks smack about her brother. His so-called ‘sacrifices’ were just empty words.
First, her brother never bullied her. On the contrary, she had been the one causing trouble for him; he’d always helped her—really, really, really good to her.
Second, her brother was helping her sell stuff because he wanted her to earn money.
Thanks to him, she managed to save enough for college tuition in a short time, and even helped her grandparents improve their life a little.
All this made her believe that Ye Liang Chen’s words earlier were all lies or illusions. The clearest sign—he kept claiming that Long Ao Tian assaulted her—completely false.
Watching their figures disappear into the distance, Ye Liang Chen clenched his fist and slashed the air with a fierce gesture, thinking they would finally feel touched by his sacrifices.
But nope—she chose to stubbornly ignore him!
“Initially, I wanted to give you one last chance but turns out I’m just too kind. Fine, fine, remember everything you said to me today,” he spat. “Without my help or redemption, your future is obvious. When the time comes—you better not come crying to me for salvation!”
He said all that, yet inside, he couldn’t accept the ending. He was a reborn person—if not for saving them, why’d he be such a lowlife?
He was really ungrateful, and it made him furious!
All the obsession from his previous life mixed with this one… he was not willing to let go. Truly not.
Watching their slender, curvy figures vanish into the night, dark seeds of vengeance quietly sprouted in his heart…
